So just picked up a 100 ml EDP and can't stop smelling it. it's so soft and warm, an absolute masterpiece of perfumery. I love your passion , thanks for all your in-depth reviews
Wow. I don’t think I’ve seen a more passionate fragrance review before. I have a sample of it and I really do enjoy it. I think now I have to get a bottle. Well done on this excellent review.
Thank you Mohammed, I am glad you like the review and plan to get a full bottle mate :). These sort of fragrances are a must have for a connoisseur. I hope it gives you as much pleasure and happiness as i experience from it mate, all the best !
Wow!!!... Thank you for the history lesson. I've NEVER heard ANYONE explain, or break down the history of "Shalimar". I visited India and saw the "Taj Mahal" for myself. What a sight to behold. Just breathtaking. Thank you. 😉
I recently purchased this fragrance and I wore it for the first time today, I only took 3 sprays and let me tell you the dry down on this gem is amazing, I received many compliments and it lasted for hours on my skin
Oh beautiful! I cannot get enough of this fragrance :)

Congrats on 150 episodes. You deserve way more subs. You have become one of the few true perfume reviewers on RU-vid that really know what is talking about. You really captivate the audience with your passion and with your connoisseurship. Thanks a lot for all the knowledge. I don’t miss a video
Thanks Joao, truly appreciate your support mate :). I am glad that your time is valued here mate and I hope to carry on creative decent content :). Have a nice day my friend !
Your best review yet my friend. I really enjoyed this one. I bought Shalimar EDP for my mother a few months ago and she loves it. I just showed her this video and now she is absolutely smitten by it. You sir, do reviews like a master, especially when you really love a fragrance. Now my mother is watching all your videos :) I am going to try it on myself soon and may buy a bottle for myself if it works. Well done mate.
hahaha, I hope your mother likes the review of her favorite fragrance mate :). Well this is very easily wearable by a man so I am pretty sure the EDP will work for you :). Let me know what you thought once you give it a try.
FANTASTIC, FANTASTIC FANTASTIC !!! The Passion You Show This Fragrance Is The Reason I Bought A Vintage Bottle.. Can’t Thank You Enough..👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
The way you have passionately reviewed it ... I will certainly buy this for the emotional value of being legend inspired by love. AC, I am your new subscriber, Really a fantastic review.
Thank you Himanshu and much appreciate your feedback and sub! If you are thinking of getting this then please do consider the Extrait as well if its in your budget, as I found it to be next level :)
I think I’ll just have to jump in and go for a full bottle. I love orientals, I love Guerlain, and I love Habit Rouge EDT. It sounds like this would be right up my alley. Thank you for such a beautiful and erudite review, A.C.
Amazing video. I could feel your passion and love for the fragrance. My two favorite oriental fragrances in the world are Guerlain Shalimar Edp and Fredric Malle Musc Ravageur.
A beutiful review of a magnificent fragrance. I agree with you, Shalimar is the greatest perfume ever. It never stops enchanting me as it endlessly unfolds , it captivates me it, it opens up doors in my soul leading to joy. Shalimar is an experience.
@@ACSmellsGood I loved the review, I didn't find it lengthy but right for such a truly magnificent fragrance. All the great Guerlains are olfactory poesie, music, paintings. They make me thing of Malher's symphonies, complex and imprevisible. Have you ever thought of making a review on Nahema. It is a very underrated fragrance, was not a financial succes yet one of the most beautiful Guerlains I' ve ever smelt. Intensely rose it is sensuel, deep and velvety and even a bit dark, a perfume to loose yourself in. The original version was amazing.
I love Shalimar. I was seated next to a beautiful lady at a wedding. As I began our small talk, polite dinner conversation I noticed her scent. Deep resinous incense, powder, dusty florals, it was warm and sensual. I asked her what perfume she was wearing. She smiled and said: “Shalimar.” I was smitten. Great review of this monument in perfumery.
Bravo AC! Fantastic video-your passion is both evident and contagious. I’ve fallen hard for Guerlain as of late and am planning a bottle purchase for every season: Habit Rouge for spring/summer, Heritage for fall, Shalimar for winter, and Mitsouko for spring/fall. Thank you for sharing your passion.
Jeeeeez what a review AC.... for a moment I had my eyes closed listening to this review.... so picturesque. I will get this during the week. I want to live this experience. Your reviews is full of information and depth...
Thank you for this review!! I'm going to blind buy this fragrance, not just because of your review but I have been eyeing this fragrance for a while, and all the notes involved. I enjoy a complex frag. I trust your nose, please continue to give these informative reviews. I also thank you for your Molinard Habinita review, I blind bought that as well..........LOVE IT
Thanks for the soulful review. I tested it and it love this scent, even if it's marketed for women. I bought it and this review played a nice role in the decision. Really unique fragrance. Cheers, Alex
@@ACSmellsGood Damn, after a while of wear, that perfume is simply mesmerizing. Now I'm looking for another one that I've been curious about from Guerlain. I've seen your review as well. How does Heritage play into the mix? How is it compared to Shalimar? I've seen your review but unfortunately I can't test it and I'm still in the "new phase". I currently wear Shalimar, EN A L'extreme, Guerlain Vetiver and Lalique Pour Homme Lion. I'm torn between Habit Rouge and Heritage but can't exactly pinpoint what would work best, I wish there were samples of these available in stores. Have a good one, Alex
Hey AC! Thank you for your passionate review for this masterpiece! I blind bought this and I am so glad I did. I think this one smells more manly than Habit Rouge lol. The scent of this one (Shalimar EDP) actually reminds me of scotch whiskey....
I am totally delighted you enjoyed this fragrance so much. This one is very close to my heart as well. I know men may give this a miss thinking this is for woman but when they try it never fails them. I have seen so many of my subscribers come and say they really enjoyed this fragrance. Have a great day and much appreciate the feedback.
AC! You have a gift and many thanks for sharing it. Such a wonderful review of Shalimar. Gave me an even deeper appreciation for this fragrance and for Guerlain. Just wonderful! Cheers!
Thank you Lamar, i think we both are on the same page on the scent mate, and my reviews give 5 minutes of Joy to my friends , then that's exactly what i am after :). Thank you for your support buddy I couldn't have done it alone :)
I'm a new viewer, subscribed a couple of week's ago. I've been wondering for some time now whether or not to get Shalimar. it started of searching fragrantica for a fragrance that's similar and close to Tom Ford Noir EDP as I love that scent. but expensive. Prada Amber Intense came in at number one and Shalimar EDP second. ordered Prada Amber Intense. but I wasn't too sure about Shalimar because it states that it's for women. so passed on and had a look at third place, Habit Rouge. but as I'm reading the reviews for Habit Rouge (and good reviews by the way) I noticed Shalimar keeps popping up in people's review. (still wasn't sure) so I thought let's have a search on RU-vid. I come across this review and all I would like to say is, thank you so much uncle AC for this review. because right now I am sitting here hold Shalimar in my hands. thank you so much for convincing me and not just convincing me. but the confidence to just blind buy it. not a single regret. this was love at first sniff. love it so much I've ordered Shalimar EDT and Habit Rouge. once again, thank you so much. p.s I ordered Prada Amber Intense based on your review as well.
Beautiful video, AC! Perfect choice, Shalimar is THE fragrance to celebrate 150th video. May I suggest one of Edmond Roudnitska's masterpieces for your 200th video? 👌
Thank you Stefan. I have a fair idea which one it is that you are going to suggest and please do :). I think you will suggest Moustache , which I will have to get and more than happy to do so :).
Smells Good I’d be happy with any one of Roudnitska’s greats: Moustache, Diorella, Eau d’Hermes... and it doesn’t have to be vintage, the reforms are great as well:)
Ok mate, done! In fact i will review all of the ones you mention, one by one, they are worth it! but will reserve one for the 200th. thanks for confirming that the current formulations are as good :).
Brilliant point! It absolutely is and I have reviewed it but smells very different than Shalimar. I think it was a father and son tradition that was carried out till Habit Rouge. Jicky was created by Aime Guerlain , that influenced Shalimar by Jacques and finally Jean Paul created Habit Rouge :).
150 Episodes??? That's fantastic! I'm very glad I found your channel. Very nice review of a very nice beautiful fragrance. Congratulations buddy. I hope you keep doing reviews for a long time. :)
Thanks Daniel, yeah mate I have been in game for nearly 2 years now :), second anniversary coming in a couple of weeks. This one is a superb fragrance bud, try it if you can :).
Superb review AC. It’s one of favorite perfumes of all time. I love all concentrations of it (especially extrait for me) and flankers. Women around me are always attracted to it as well. But I don’t wear it for anyone but my self, that’s how I am with all my perfumes now. Haha. Guerlain has quickly become my absolute favorite fragrance house ever and Shalimar is in my top 5 personal favorite/greatest of all time. The only others that can compete for me are Jicky, L’heure Bleue, Mitsouko and Vol de Nuit. Just a 2 years ago I was able to appreciate it but would’ve never thought it would be one of my top 5’s along with the rest of the Guerlain classics.
Lovely comment Jonathan, its as If i had written this comment myself, your thoughts echo my sentiments on Guerlain as well. I wish the modern Guerlains were as nice. I am yet to smell L' heure Bleue and Vol de Nuit, which I will sample with renewed vigor after your comment.
Smells Good L’heure Bleue extrait may be the most emotional piece I’ve ever smelled. Therefore to me, it's possibly my number one perfume of all time with the other four Guerlain’s coming very close because they are emotionally complex as well. I do think that Guerlain has released something comparable to their classics (in recent times) after Chamade PH. For me, that would be Lui and possibly even Encens Mythique d’Orient. Possibly even Arsene Lupin Dandy. Cheers!
@@Kos0818 I agree on your point on the latest releases. In fact their designer range is all but dead. If you want to smell anything interesting you will have to go Niche. All Thierry Wasser does is release flankers of Habit Rouge and IDEAL. This guy is running Guerlain to the ground. I am very unimpressed with his current vision on Guerlain designers tbh.
Smells Good actually it's not him. He hates making flankers of La Petite Robe Noir, Mon Guerlain, and Shalimar. He’s constantly forced to make those by LVMH because it’s safe for the company’s income. He wants to make new great designers and even flankers to some of the other classics for their anniversary’s. He wanted to do a L’heure Bleue flanker in 2012 for the 100th anniversary and they shot it down because they don't care about the rest of the classics. It's really sad. I know all of this because he told a big Fraghead friend of mind at a Toronto meet and greet personally.
Well Jonathan, if I was stifled like that and I had his talent, I would have left and started my own brand like MFK. Its a shame that Guerlain is on such a greasy pole.
Hi AC sir , will try this for sure after watching your's and Nikhil sir's reviews 20+ times each :) and more over I think that now I have somewhat acquired the capability to understand and appreciate this classic beauty. Just out of the way , I really love the music you blend in the background ( here Beethoven , sometimes Vivaldi , at times Mozart just wow )
HAHA... After falling in love with Kuoros , Opium pour femme , Boucheron pour femme , Armaf shades wood , Farenheit , Rasasi Shurah , Faqat lil rizal , I wish to try the beast 😀
Good evening AC. I recently got L' Instant De Guerlain over the Christmas period, and I love it. It was my first Guerlain. I was wondering which Guerlain's you might recommend me trying next please? I an interested in Shalimar EDP and also Habit Rouge EDT, but honestly I would like to try everything by them. Thank you for your time AC!
Superb, AC. Enjoyed. I loved wearing this classic once, when I sprayed my arm. Oh, how it developed..! It was..., beautiful! The old formulas must have been something.. ;)) Mahalo, for the history! BobO
Thank you Bobby and great to see you mate :). I am so glad you enjoyed this fragrance mate, its a seriously amazing scent with depth and complexity to match ! have a great weekend :).
@@ACSmellsGood Hey AC, I was trying Guerlain Shalimar and Guerlain habit rouge edt&edp. They're smell almost identical!!! Base your experiences, Which one would you choose?? Btw, Shalimar is so alluring on my skin and habit rouge makes me like a real gentleman. Would love to hear your advice. Thanks a lot before
@@TheInstrumentalicoustic Hi Bayu, great to hear from you mate. I would go for the EDP , Habit rouge. You have captured the key essence of both Shalimar and Habit Rouge to the Tee mate, well done!!
Hello A C hope u doing fine!! What a beautiful review bro...as usual u look awesome. Vintage perfumes woow u have collection an amazing 😉 I ever could have them. A question if u kindly answer! How long an EDP or EDT can be retained for? Does EDP and EDT has any expiry?
Thank you Khaleel and a great question. Good quality fragrances like Guerlain Shalimar will keep for 30 -40 years even longer if stored properly. My best practice is to keep it away from direct sunlight and fragrances don't like huge temperature fluctuations so keeping them in an air conditioned environment will also help. It is also a good idea to keep fragrance bottles in their original packaging as it stops sunlight from interacting with the juice.
lovely review, heard so much about it. think I will get this next after your approval. the bet is when I try it will I recognise it from somewhere. I got lheure bleue and there is that recognition. im 60 so it could be when I was a boy on auntys knee.
Thanks John, and yes this might give you a feel of ' I may have smelled it on someone before'. It happened to me when I first smelled Acqua Di Gio but hey ho. I am still to sniff L heure bleue mate but I am on the hunt. If you get Shalimar EDP, you are bound to love it, it just such a fragrance :).
Thank you Rohit and yes doing these sort of reviews are my passion but they don't get me the views :(, nevertheless I won't stop reviewing these gems. Glad you liked the review and do sample it if you can :).
Thank you Brenda, and to be honest, I grew up reading books on Mughals and hence it was an instant thought for me. If you see the head dress of the queens of that era , it would be clear instantly. I am glad you watched an enjoyed the review as it was a very long video, but I love the creation so much that I just didn't care how long the video went on for :) Have you been to the Taj Mahal? If you haven't, you must try, the scale of the monument and the surrounding gardens will leave an imprint in your mind for ever. Its a monument that moves you :)
@@ACSmellsGood I'm very well AC, enjoying the sun after a pretty miserable "summer" so far. Really enjoying my Guerlains recently, particularly Habit Rouge EDT. Hope you are well!
@@HandsomeSmells Very well my friend, and yeah enjoyed the heat last Friday and hoping we get some of our "summer" back. I am the same as you I love my Guerlain fragrances. Good to interact with you.
@@ACSmellsGood I enjoyed it immensely. Great research and presentation! And both advice! Thank you, I will be spraying it on my hair and chest under the shirt now! Best video on the beloved Shalimar! Many greetings from a new subscriber! 😘
