Is Tim Pierce famous? Is Pete Thorn famous? Not outside the guitar community, and they are better players than Lemmo. There are thousands of great players that are not famous. Talent doesn’t equal fame.
@@alex-px1uz Right? I said top 5 out of respect to all the great instruments they've displayed, but this one is just WOW! And, man, does it look beautiful as well. That guitar just screams "play me!" I wish I had rich guy money...
First guitar I ever strummed was a 61 gibson hummingbird. It belonged to my great grandfather who passed away last week at the age of 92. A few months ago he picked it up after 20 years and by muscle memory could still play it.
@@Shred_The_Weapon I wish it would've as well. My grandmother and her dad (my great grandfather) had gotten into a wreck in 1960 and destroyed his previous guitar. The insurance paid for what was needed to replace the vehicle and my grandmother had a little left over so she bought him a a brandnew 61 hummingbird for what she recalls costed $300 with the case. I figured it would go back to her but, she said shes not sure who got it. Im hoping his youngest grandaughter got it cause she actually plays guitar, but i have a feeling it ended up in my great aunts hands and she's the type to keep it just so noone else could enjoy it.
Oh my lordy, Mike.. never in my life heard of you.. but now you'll be in my search history in hopes to find out how you arranged that beautiful piece in the 2nd half of this session. Amazing my man, amazing
Wow I watched this video to see the guitar but forgot about the guitar completely listening to the playing. I never comment on stuff but had to on this. Terrific!
That first piece was just awesome man!!! I can picture myself rolling down the Californian Pacific Coast Hwy with the top down, breeze blowin' and sun goin' down listen to that and chillin' and Im not even in the USA....awesome stuff man! Norms so lucky to have you man as you are lucky too as you get to play and we are the lucky ones as we get to listen to you play! #IwishIcouldplaylikeLemmo
I love the Hummingbird, and don't own one. Tried on 30 yrs ago and was so surprised by the tone. I'm going to buy one within the next few years. But, more importantly, the song is pretty good being played here.
Jesus, man! One can learn so much from just watching you & I mean as a player. Wish I didn't have to work away from home or else I'd be figuring all this out already... 😔😔
At 02:30 and a bit after; nice close-ups!I really like how the reflections show that the wood has shrunk between every tree ring the top intersects. That top would have been mirror-smooth when sold. I wonder if the Market thinks that is a plus or a minus. To me, it is like grey hair, a sign of the quality that comes with age!
My uncle has a 1960 Hummingbird which is actually the first year they were made. Its in good shape for a 60 year old guitar. He told me he paid around $250 for it and its worth at least $7000.
Are the older Hummingbirds heavier than the modern Hummingbirds? It seems that the wood on modern Gibson acoustics are a bit thinner and the guitars are lighter, but Ive never played vintage versions.
I luv the dreadknots and the hummingbird is the classic example , such a great tone and great resonance , it really does sing , and those were both such great songs , Lemmo is a fantastically creative guitarist , how he gets those individual notes to ring out amongst those chords , and maintaining one rythym while playing a second at the same time , amazing , always a pleasure Michael , thanks guys
Wow incredible GOTD and Mr Lemmo you never let us down with these fantastic episodes... I will be amazed if you have any tickets left... for sure.. Hey Jen how you doing...
The Lemmo original at the end needs to be a Flattop Friday benchmark piece each week. I loved it this video and the other one I heard it on when you started doing these.
That sounded fucking awesome .(mind my French)Aces micky. You should buy this guitar. I Have heard a lot of hummingbirds, this one is the best one I've ever heard. How many weeks at Norms with no pay to cover this? This guitar needs you. Trust me. Is this in your live repertoire?
