I've been an Amos Lee fan since the first time I heard him sing a note, shortly after he released his first single. I own all his music and I listen to him often and never tire of it. He's a fantastic singer songwriter. You really should listen to his full catalog.
Go see Amos live if you get the chance. His shows are one big love fest. The most gracious performer I've experienced. Deep, deep, talent as a songwriter, one of the richest tones ever, and a wonderful human under it all.
I was lucky enough to see Amos Lee open for Merle Haggard and Bob Dylan three nights in a row at the Beacon Theater in NYC in 2005. All three were amazing.
He's great by himself, he's great with the Wiebe Sisters, he's great with a big band. His voice carries it, sounds unique yet powerful. Easy to get drowned out with that much sound but he still stands out. I really enjoy how you are technical but also stress the importance of how the sound makes you feel. Great video, Michael.
I’ve seen Amos twice, once with the symphony and once at the mother church (band only) both shows were top notch. Go see him you won’t be disappointed!

So many emotions every time I hear it; joy, elation, regret, Ioss, Iove...few songs can emit that many feeIings. watch the bass player, she is having the time of her Life performing this. I've added two Amos songs to my own rep, this one and Arms of a Woman. Good songwriting? ha, every time I play Arms of a Women the women virtually swoon over it. Thanks for aII you do Michael.
Fantastic insights on this song -- shortly after the album came out I was going through a very tough time and went on a long drive into the American West. This song really helped me. If you're interested in a beautiful contrast going from big song to intimate guitar, try "Better Days" from "Last Days at the Lodge". Gorgeous storytelling.
Amos is great… his lyrics are like abstract poems for the most part but the brilliance is that they can mean a few different things in many of his songs….Just an incredible talent

I've read music ever since I was knee-high to a grasshopper (piano, sax, violin, etc.), so I could get away with just reading pages, but never really developed my theory crafting. I mean, I play for fun (me, my wife, and dogs), so I'm happy with the couple of hundo songs I play, but I'm putting music theory on my bucket list after listening to you freestyle the intro. Enjoyed your analysis of this tune. FYI, I'm not a guitarist, I play trumpet. I live in CO but have never been to Red Rocks. I've probably watched this video 100 times, and it emits emotion EVERY TIME. When the female bass player chimes in with her occasional harmony it gives me goosebumps. You're a talented guy picking right upon the chord progression. I never knew who Amos Lee was until I saw this video for the first time, and I'm a mobile DJ/musician with an amazing song collection. LOL. I'm a subscriber.

Heck yeah! My wife plays French horn with the CSO. She did not play this show though but did red rock with Amos a few years later and the encore was Grateful Dead help on the way>franklins tower. I about lost it. Keep doing your thing Michael and if in Denver my wife will leave ya tics at will call for an orchestra performance at the concert hall.
