Vince is a really nice guy. No big ego just really down to earth. If you watch his interviews thats exactly how he is in real life. He stopped by my booth at a Nashville guitar show we talked for a god 30 minutes about how the show was and what he was looking for his personal guitar collection. Vince and Chet Atkins were close friends.

If you watch the entire performance, Chet Adkins actually called in and requested that Vince play this song.

Did you mean Chet Atkins or Trace Adkins?

Vince Gill, Keith Urban and Brad Paisley are fantastic guitarist in the country genre and they learned from Roy Clark, Glen Campbell and they learned from Chet Atkins. BRAVO to these country legends.

This video was definitely a few years old. If it’s the video I’m thinking of there’s actually a little bit at the beginning where he takes a phone call on stage from Chet Atkins. Who’s been gone for quite a few years now. I think that’s why he says that he’s going to try and pick it like you talk me Because he had actually just spoken to Chet Atkins minutes before he started playing. Matter fact, Chet Atkins was the one who asked him to do this song if I’m not mistaken.

Vince Gill is Vince Gill in all the true sense of his strings playing dexterity. He is a genius in that department.Vince sings as a vocalist and strut his stuff as an enchanted guitar guru.Vince is awesome in every way..keep on and keeping on.

If you think that is fast and clean - do this on an acoustic guitar at bluegrass tempo. He has a lot of history doing that so a Tele for him is like coming off a gravel road onto the highway. He is a chit kicker from way back.

Love the clean tone. Like Dire Strait's Mark Knopfler. v I know Chet influenced Mark Knopfler as well.

I don't understand trying to compare mastery of guitar players in different genres like country, classical, flamenco, jazz, blues, etc. why not just enjoy them and admire their individual skills and creativity? I like the idea of trying to expose guitar fans to different genres. I just love guitar.

If you want a couple of other country guitar players to check out, you should check out Albert Lee and Danny Gatton. As a matter of fact, there’s some video online of the three of them playing together with Gil and Natalia. I don’t know who was the better of the three. I suspect Gaten was slightly more talented, but Lee is probably my favourite guitar player of all time.

Is the box within a box really necessary. I find it distracting and redundant. And I’m sure I’m not the only one.

Vince played in Ricky’s band Boone Creek in the ‘70s. They probably traded a lot of tricks.
