Gumotex Twist 2 Inflatable Kayak | Overview & Review -
I'd been looking for an alternative to my Riber 420 drop stitch kayak. My criteria were -
- small pack down size (for car camping/kayaking trips)
- lightweight (relatively - the Riber weighs 30+kg)
- tandem/solo option
- good for solo kayaking/camping trips i.e. could hold all the gear.
The Gumotex Twist 2 ticked all the boxes. I bought mine from Manchester Canoes and took it out for a first paddle on the River Derwent.

Had this boat for 2 years .. now 3rd summer .. used it in our costal Malta waters. Suggest buying the front cover for protecting of sea overflow inside . Works top 👌 👏 amazing staff from gumotex

@@MoreThanJustaCleaner As yet I've only watched a couple Karl, relating to the Twist 2. Will be sure to check out some of the others too! Quick question; how do you know (without a gauge) when the sections are fully inflated ? When creases have disappeared ?

Good question! Duncan from Manc Canoes said it wants to be firm but not hard. I always inflated it to the point where I could make a small indentation when i squeezed the chamber. Oddly enough when I used the electric pump (different vid, more recent) with the auto-shutoff at the correct pressure, it was firmer than I'd been inflating it to without a guage.

I've got one of these boats, I use it in Poole Harbour and River Stour in Dorset, it's very easy to transport, inflate, paddle, deflate, dry and store. I'm very impressed with it, after 2 yrs and 20+ trips, it's still as good as new. You forgot to mention the skeg.... this helps it track reasonably straight.

@@kristaps2010 haha indeed 😁 I learned that when I first test inflated it and tried to slot the skeg in afterwards 🤪 In all honesty i don't like this aspect. Unless you prop the boat it means all the weight is on the skeg while you're inflating it. I much prefer being able to slot the skeg in place in an inflated craft just before dropping the boat in the water.

I wanted this boat but it wasn't in stock. I opted for the decathlon x100 instead. After watching this, they both seem as good as each other.

Hi did you sort out the seat deflating , what was the problem....I have gumotex solar and it happened to me once but never did it again....still don't know what it was, love your videos

Hi Graham 😊 thanks for your kind words 👍 to be honest I've never inflated either of them since. I install one but I only use it to hold my custom seating arrangement in place 😊

I guess it depends what you want to use it for. The Tom will feel more solid and boat-like and will move faster on the water, but it will also feel a little less stable because it's narrower. The Twist is tough and robust, lighter than the Tom, packs down smaller and feels stable on the water, however it will be a slightly slower craft through the water.

It would really be nice to know how much the box weighs. You pick it up in video like it must be about 25 pounds.(or around 10kg). You talk about the portability, being able to carry it and store it in your car or another larger craft but, you do not mention the weight. It would make a great bed but you need to have a tarp to protect it from collecting rain or dew. It is long enough to have a person at either end. To me, the whole purpose of the inflatable kayak is to go where others cannot go. Privacy, security and good hunting or fishing are the rewards. I like a comfortable bed and the inflatable kayak provides that. For a couple, or with small children I recommend two boats. for redundancy. It would be a good bed on canoe or hard shell kayak trips. And, you never know when you might need a backup. Iguana

Yes they are very versatile. I've not used mine as a bed yet. I need to try that. It weighs 13kg or 28lbs 👍😁

Why do people never give the price? When I watch stuff like this in my head the whole time is, well how much? You can't show stuff and not tell folk what it cost! Looks okay.
