Gun 2005 - PSP vs PS2 vs GameCube vs XBOX vs XBOX 360 vs PC (Graphics Comparison) 

I've heard there's not as many people walking around in the PSP version and you can't enter some buildings. What was added?

@@bruno100carro Even worse, the pc port has compressed audio files and it sounds awful. Just compare the rifle sounds in the video

You can tell pretty much this game was the game that inspired Rockstar to take Red Dead Revolver and make its sequel. Without GUN, I doubt Rockstar would ever care about Red Dead Revolver again.

Yeah. Even some of the abilities clearly took inspiration from gun. Like the way you can roll side to side while you have your gun out.

@@pafoneto1275 do you know the difference between “hidden gem” and “gem”? I never said Gun was an unknown game, I said it is a GOOD game (a gem).

I was disappointed when I played it the first time on PC, but there are some settings that are off by default. Once you turn them on it looks better.

Only played the ps2 version years ago out of all of them though I'm surprised the pc version looks the way it does figured it would have been up there with Xbox 360 or better unless the settings isn't maxed out

Gun wasn't the only game where this occurred. Need for Speed Most Wanted was another. PC at best could only really match the 360 back in 2005, never really exceed it.

@carteljameson8395 consoles must have been alittle ahead of the pc power back then for graphics or the devs just didn't want to put much into the pc ports

And it wasn't even close between them. I think the PC got the worst port.

Effects and textures are missing even if you turn every setting on high in pc. It’s even missing textures on the main characters outfit. Your better off emulating the ps2 version

@@trapez77 Or emulating the 360 version I personally emulated the PS2 version but had I known the 360 version existed and had such good graphics I definitely woulda gone with that one that being said though thanks for the info about the PSP version cause I did grab that version but I wasn't aware that it had extra missions and content which is definitely an area I felt was lacking in the game cause a lot of the side missions are very samey and the map feels super empty for being an open world with such a big map.

@@theninjamaster67 I personally prefer the ps2 version. The 360 version looks a little too clean for a western game if that makes sense. It was originally designed from the ground up for ps2 and you have to use constantly use the d-pad in the game and using the 360’s dpad is really awkward to me. It just feels right on ps2

PSP version has lots of cut content (like scalper knife or the cannon segment early on), no NPCs besides merchants and story-related ones (towns feel dead), a weird-ass control scheme (that you can get used to but come one can't compare to the others) and is buggier, Colt can easily get stuck in the ground. PSP version is great but the best still is the X360 version.

The pc version is the worst. Dull lighting, missing backgrounds, missing textures. There’s even missing textures on the main characters outfit.

@bitterroman3391 Another great example is Tomb Raider Anniversary the PS3 and 360 versions had better models and textures and the PC version just feels incomplete cause it's missing a ton of effects like there's a part where you're supposed to climb spinning pillars that are spitting out fire but the PC version doesn't even have the fire it's also hella buggy and that's not even the only example from the Tomb Raider series cause Tomb Raider 2013 Definitive Edition for the PS4 and Xbox 1 has a better character model better lighting trees and bushes that move in the wind better textures etc that just aren't in the PC version cause they never updated it from the original version of the game which is the same as the PS3 and 360 version.

Xbox and 360 D-pads worked great though.

@@GroupMPro No, your settings are messed up. This is what the settings need to be for the best results: Detailed Shadows: On Advanced Graphics: High Depth of Field Quality: High Distance Clipping: OFF!!! - This is the BIG one that's messing up your footage here, because it adds that nasty fog that cuts off both the far vistas and the skybox. For optional settings, it looks like the Fullscene Settings and the Anti-aliasing trade off of each other. Changing the settings like so fixes not just the lighting and draw distance, but also the animations on the bear. However, the PC port is still locked to 4:3 resolutions and 30fps.

It's the absolute worst version though.

It is 720p only on 360.

@@thongquehanoi I mean that's technically correct but that's just upscaling the PS2 before the TV gets the signal. The TV already will upscale it. It's still just 240p/480i/480p upscaled to 720p on the scaler in the Pound cable.

common back then they make pc ports based in the old gen version of the game so more people can play with with a weak pc

Back in the good days consoles were more advance than PC's at least for two years

Basically every 6th generation console game ported to PC was ass.

@@vladv5126 I agree, even Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter suffered the same issue. The 360 version was a third person tactical, squad based, command and control shooter but the PC version was mostly a straight up FPS where you control one other guy and that’s it, the OG Xbox and PS2 versions were the same as that PC version and it SUCKED!

The original Xbox port doesn’t have multiplayer, it has Xbox live aware which basically allows a player to be seen by their online friends since the original Xbox didn’t natively support online so a game had to have Xbox live integrated in the game. the Xbox 360 had Xbox live natively so no game had to incorporate it into their game.

I agree, the og xbox has a smoother look, better colors and shading. The 360 textures look like a photo, crisp but too flat looking.
