@@qualicumjack3906 Probably lost all of its value considering how much material was removed. If only the rust was removed, it could've been a museum piece. Now it just looks like some cheap trinket that was cast in sand. The grips didn't even fit properly, and the varnish had bubbles and debris, and wasn't sanded. A nice stain and some linseed oil would've been much nicer
@@qualicumjack3906 Truly a godsend. You can even use it to seal/treat wooden cookware (cutting boards/spatulas etc...) as long as it's either raw linseed oil, or actual boiled linseed oil (most storebought BLO contain drying agents that make them inedible), and metal, as it can help prevent rust propagation (although it's not as good as hot/cold bluing, or japanning). I recently scraped the varnish off of a small camp axe's handle and refinished it with BLO. Let me tell you; that thing is the softest, most comfortable, splinter free handle I have ever seen. Plus, it doesn't crack and peel like varnish, you don't have to wash any brushes or worry as much about fumes, and with repeated applications and sanding, can have just as nice of a gloss or matte finish as a varnish.
I watched a lot of restorations of guns like this on youtube and many of them can't even get them this decent. This is by far one of the best ones I have seen.
I watched the video until the end, I got interested and was very eager to see how an old rusty gun can be restored. I am convinced it is possible because I guess guns are made with high grade of steel. Your patient, effort, time and having all those special tools to restore that old rusty pieces is EXTRAORDINARY! Big big thumbs up to you!
Unfortunately he might of had too. That handgun had way to much rusting and the inside of the barrel looked bad. The cylinder stop is also completely gone as well. You can tell by watching the end of the video when he could freely spin the cylinder without even going half cock on the hammer.
Congratulations! Great job! It reminds me of the time my father found an old corroded gun in the woods while we were out mushroom picking on day. Surprisingly he threw it in the basket. So, l said to him, “what are you doing?” He replied, “l’m going to fix it.” I said ti him. “You can’t fix that, it’s all corroded!” He said, “Watch!” When we got home, he had a pot of water boiling, some kind of oil and an assortment of tools and other things. It didn’t seem to take that long, but after a while he had it working like new!
I just wanted to let you know that you did an amazing job on this gun. it looks like another whole gun and the way you restored it was excellent and you made it look so easy to. You really are a true craftsman and you have shown me that just because something's rusted out don't mean it can't be brought back to life. great video my friend.🤓👍
@@andrewcross8244 This gun is not supposed to get shot. I would like to own such an old restored gun for display. Shooting most rusted restorations should not get fired anyways.
a arma ficou show mas o video com musiquinha e o barulho das maquinas alto de mais prefiro igual aos outros sem musiquinha e quando tem barulho de maquina baixar o som pra 30% fica mais suave (o som do meu YT ta em 9% e ta alto o video )
Hi, this kind of attention to detail is outstanding, the care and quality that went into this restoration is astonishing, absolutely outstanding quality work, congratulations on your work,
@@markvegar1442 its not a real restoration, because it is not able to be used for anything other than a paperweight. And he left the barrel full of rust, but he did a decent job for the amount of rust and damage from pitting, its not able to be used again, but something's could have been done differently
An amazing feat of restoration! The hours of work that must have gone into restoring that pistol must have been tremendous. I saw no way will he be able to restore it when I first saw the rusted out pistol but you did the nearly impossible. Bravo.

Este video me ha recordado que, en los años 70, me encontré un revólver similar al que se ve en el video. Estaba muy oxidado, pero completo ,con escachas de plata y con las balas en el cargador.
