GUNDAM 0083: Stardust Memory - Is It Worth Your Time? 

You should try reviewing this one show, though it isn't about mechas. But it is about the beautiful story of a young boy who meets new friends while staying with his grandfather that teach him the meaning of life and help him go on the journey to find himself; truly a heartwarming piece of fiction. I think its called Boku No Pico.

The reason Kou was on trial at the end of the show was for several reasons. He stole the gundam unit three, went awol along with the Albion crew during the final battle. And he fired on the earth orbital federation fleet after the the second solar system attack. The Captain of the Albion was sentenced to death for the defection and Kou got a prison sentence.

The love story is what killed star dust memory for me. It kinda killed 08th team for me but it was good enough for me to fully enjoy the whole thing and not let it bother me

0083 is good. Definitely shows what triggered the situations that led up to the ZETA era in the shadows after the one year war. Yes, it's good. Yes, it's worth your time. You should basically consider Stardust Memory required watching for the U.C. timeline which is the timeline that actually makes sense and matters for the best story telling.

The colony drop is genius though. Gato redirected it from Jaburo or some populated area in order to strike the Earth where it matters-, its resources. This would in theory force the federation to cooperate with Zeon to survive, but that's not how the story goes hehe

Actually 2 episodes back, Kou stole the gundam without permission from any of the Earth federations authority figures. So by association and extension it is entirely possible he would be court martialed for that whereas the captain of the Albion, was executed specifically because it was his operation and if you know the titans they aren't known for exactly being nice

Even with the love story, this is an awesome series. It proved Gundam could be compelling even without newtypes, it's music was awesome

My first experience with 0083 was so special. In the US it ran on the late night Toonami, which at the time you were lucky if you were allowed up. My friend and I caught the episode where GPO1 and GPO2 fight the final time, just after the nuke. Years later I experienced the story more fully through the Encounters in Space video game. This was how I experienced a lot of Gundam stories as the shows stopped airing. At the time, I thought the love triangle was a little undercooked, and needed to see the full series to expand it. To my shock there wasn't much more context... Still an iconic moment for Gundam and 90s anime as a whole.

This may be the most Top Gun-like Gundam, but I feel like Macross Plus is the most Top Gun-like Mecha

Entire operation stardust is orchestrated by federation high command using delaz fleet as pawn, for starters they intentionally leaked Gp02 whereabout to delaz, 0083 is the backstory of the creation of Titans

I think it's safe to say that when a space colony is droped on you like an asteroid, that any preconceived notions of agreeded boundaries to warfare are off the table.

The Newtype aspect of Gundam isn’t that stupid. It kinda drives the political and ethical aspect of the show. In my opinion. Great review guys.

The love plot didn't really ruin it for me until the very end but at that point it didn't matter to me much since it was ending. Although, if the plot was just completely removed, there would be little to no difference with the final product.

Gundam Wing does suck. It's got too much Gundam.

The best Gundam series' are the ones that revolve around the grunts and front line guys (0083, 08th MS Team). It's believable and grounded in reality that way, pulling you in and making you want more. The new type stuff was... ok, but I just hate the trope of "I'm billy badass and I'm gonna fight the war myself with no teamwork or coordination of effort."

I came here after watching several of your newer videos, including at least one that said, "Stardust Memory was our first video. Please don't watch it, it sucks." I don't see why you think that; it's not flashy, but it holds up well, I think.

I really like stardust memory more than char’s counterattack Or the f91 flick and I like it more than the original trilogy. It’s right up there with mobile suit gundam Z

It’s worth it just for the opening song, for the first half lol. But it’s also cool to see the birth of the Titans, even though they don’t show up until the end. But the whole thing at the end with Nina having dated Gato outta nowhere, pfff, that shit was silly as hell. It’s a pretty fun time though.

Late to the party here but I believe there is a shot before they show Kou on trial and it’s him in the Stamen firing his beam rifle (I’m assuming this has something to do with the court martial and also he refused to leave the area of the solar system thing (?) as it was preparing to fire with a relatively new and extremely powerful mobile armor. Just my thoughts.

You're not always going to know in depth history of every love relationship ever. If every single one got indepth covered it would get silly. It's suppose to be a bit of a surprise, not an entire series extending sub plot.

I like the series, but it really drops off after Gato Nukes the Fleet. They could of just ended the series there honestly.

It’s been a while since I’ve watched Stardust Memory so correct me if I’m wrong but I remember it feeling vastly important to UC as a bridge between 0079 and Zeta. Firstly, because the Earth Federation won the OYW so there shouldn’t be any need to dedicate some mass amount of resources towards weapons and military development. Despite this, the Feddies are not only developing a new set of Gundams but ones like the Unit 2 Zephyranthes that is expressly equipped to initiate nuclear attacks (which is a CLEAR and pretty egregious violation of the Antarctic Treaty). So coming off of 0079 SM really starts to hammer home in the grander scheme of the things the Earth Federation shouldn’t blindly be considered the good guys just because Amuro was the hero. They do some pretty heinous stuff too when they shouldn’t. Secondly, the entire Stardust Memory affair is a result of Anavel Gato’s antics. When everything about SM goes public it gives enough reason, enough of an excuse for the Earth Federation to introduce a new specialized yet independent leg dedicated to eradicating any remnants of Zeon like Gato. This of course is the formation of The Titans from Zeta Gundam, whose inauguration we see with Bask Om at the very end of SM I believe. So like ultimately SM isn’t necessary to get Zeta but it offers a lot of rich context and firsthand explanation for how the Titans came to be in the wake of Operation Stardust Memory and also how the Feddies were caught with their hand in the cookie jar developing basically nuclear weapons/weapons of mass destruction during peace time when it was outlawed period and universally by the Antarctic Treaty prior.

I fucking hate new anime animation style tbh.
