Kinda funny how this scene both showcases the lethality and effectiveness of Zeon's MS designs, and in contrast shows EXACTLY why they lost the OYW. Too many variants stretching an already thin supply chain, with the high cost of each suit making them near-impossible to replace once lost.
I agree, we all know it was to sell more model kits, but in universe it was a foolish choice. Besides the odd Gundam, most feddie MS were variants of the GM which made it easier to replace broken parts or lost units. Even the Ground Gundams could have GM replacement parts. But you can't put a new Zaku head or arm on a Z'Gock.. I love the Gihren's Greed games, so you can see how the war would turn out if you didn't let people like M'quve do a bunch of weird things and simply standardized the Zaku II, and see how different the war turned out.
@@Mouseforatu If that happend Ramba Ral would have captured the White Base and the Gundam instead of failing as he did due to not being adequately supplied due to idiots like M'quve having a final word in what gets sent out. That guy was more of a politician than a soldier who was put into a position without proper military experience instead of someone who actually did their job to ensure those sent on a mission got what they needed to ensure the mission's success. And while Giren's greed did show what could happen if they used a united military manufacturing plan could have won the war sooner with suits like the Gyan being used more along the lines of the Gundam if the weapons manufacturing corporations who built the Zeon Military's Mobile Suits actually stopped trying to backstab each other to win favor and worked together to make suits like the Zaku, WAFF, BUGU and Zudah (Note: If the suit was appropriately constructed with an engine that didn't explode) stronger.
I think also they saw the capabilities of the rx-78 and said I want that, but they could never make a mass produced mobile suit that matched up meanwhile the earth federation settled with gm’s that were customizable, and a few other mobile suits that gave them a superior mobile suit that was mass producible. It wasn’t rx-78 but it was better or adequate to anything zeon could produce. Also, just more manpower to throw at zeon.
It may have been for the purpose of giving the mentality where zeon grunts know the MS will eventually go unrepaired, they will use everything in their arsenal to overwhelm feddy grunts.
rozgriz5550123 It made sense, there still was Zeon remnants on earth so it would be logicall If they would use these old MS since they couldnt reproduce them themselves.
You guys aren't addressing experience. These zeon mobile suits are veterans from the one year war who have been waiting for this moment for over a decade. These federation pilots are probably young and never experienced combat before
Weren't most of the units in torrinton basically newbies? From the way the forces fought there, it seemed like they were, or at least never expected a large zeon assault to occur.
RazgrizOne Torrington base has always been a breeding ground for newbies which is why it was always assaulted since they've always been the least prepared, with very little experienced pilota, most likely being mentors (like the byarlant pilot)
I loved how the 'antique' mobile suits the zeon were able to go up against a lot of the uptodate federation mobile suits. Till that one showed up and basically slaughtered them.
+Ming Dao Feng And don't forget how the Byalant is even more updated than those Feddy suits were. A non-mass produced MS destroying archaic mass-produced MS isn't really all that astounding. Archaic mass-produced MS destroying a shit ton up-to-date mass-produced MS is however a relatively impressive feat. Especially given how a fair sum of years have passed since the OYW and even the attempted colony drop of Axis. Thats a long time to not upgrade your MS and still take out a battalion of Jegans and GMs with little more than ancient Zaku and Z'Gokk varients.
Yeah, i liked how the older mobile suits from both one year war up to double zeta i think were doing very well agianst the updated mobile suits. Up to the other one came out and made short work for them, but does show sometimes its not always the mobile suit but the pilot as well. ^^
Its actually not that impressive when you consider materials. Even today, its the older vehicles that tend to outshine the newere ones in many ways. I've seen newer cars get into head on collissions with older ones and the older ones barely have a scratch while the newer one looks like it went through a compactor.
You absolute madman, they're making it now. "Figure MS 06D Zaku Desert Type Double Antenna Spec. Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn. Availability date: 2022-01-31"
@Mighty Fist Of Zeon! Nah you can totally blame them. Nothing but leftover Nazi-wannabe detritus fueled by sour grapes. Their extermination was warranted, and well past due. I mean Zeon-aligned forces successfully dropped two friggin colonies and attempted to drop several more. They also started a war that wiped out more than half of humanity. I'm surprised the Feddies even bothered to take prisoners, honestly. The Federation may be run by Imperialist-Capitalist shitters but the only good Fascist is a dead one.
@Mighty Fist Of Zeon! So "good" they dropped multiple colonies and asteroids on the planet they claimed to be protecting, killing billions. And let's not forget their "wholesome" obsession with eugenics and racial superiority. #Zeondidnothingwrong
@Mighty Fist Of Zeon!. The diminished cranial capacity of Earth born humans is no excuse for genocide. Besides Gundam Origins hints at space born humans being phisically weaker. Zeon Deikun dropped dead out of nowhere and his first wife was sick as a dog to the point of being wheelchair bound. Makes sense given the fact that colonists live sanitized climates with artificial gravity, that's possibly lower than the Earths. Not to mention the long term effects of being bombarded by solar radiation or being TOO far away from the sun. Also if you add the fact that the Federation started genetically engineering their own stronger faster newtypes it actually puts Zeon and space born humans at a disadvantage.
@@SoManySkinks I don't even know anymore. Seeing as how the state of most capitalist countries are IRL. Is this really how we want to the future be ran?
It really makes me curious about the stories all these Suits had before they met their end at Torrington. Many of these machines date from the One Year War; how did they survive? What adventures did they participate in? And then there are things like Hizacks and Marasais mixed in; those were _Titans_ suits, how did Zeon remnants get hold of them? Who piloted them? What are _their_ stories? So many questions!
Pretty much how I feel about Unicorn. Though I am starting to like Banagher more in non-canon or alternate media like Video Games. He's actually a pretty mature, level-headed and smart dude in Super Robot Wars for example, rather than a whiney kid who keeps piloting war machines despite hating violence.
And the gundam doing most of the winning, zabi infighting causing them to fight to see who gets what, making to many experimental mobile suits/armor causing the supply line to be streched thin ect
You have to remember that they were eventually overwhelmed by Fed' aces with superior machine such as byarlant custom and jesta, the byarlant alone destroyed the two most advanced machine zeon remnant had at that time, the Zee Zulu. So tenacity and skill will only get you so far before the enemy fields machines more advanced and more than you have
Well they always create something new, forgetting that sometimes numbers win the war. Also zabi infightings creates factions which causes collapse of their ranks. Colony drops creates doubts to whether zeon really want to liberate colonies from the federation or they just want to destroy the federation by using the spacenoids. Im just glad the federation collapse.
@@Ushio01 in the case of Germany only their best tanks could be considered much better than allied armor. In artillery and aircraft they were outclassed and matched respectively. As for Japan they had some good designs made in the late interwar period and early war but their mainstay war equipment was woefully outclassed by new American designs and outnumbered as well. They had some really good late war aircraft (N1K) and some good one off ships near the end (Shimakaze, Taiho, etc) but their lack of resources and sufficient industrial base prevented them from producing these machines in any significant number. Many of this applies to Germany to a certain extent, but at least in germanies case they had enough material and industry to produce enough machines to effect the war on a tactical and sometimes operational level, but never really on a strategic one.
0:17 is saddens me to see the Argama's ruins being used as a Zeon base the Argama sacrificed so much to battle the Titans and Neo Zeon only to become part of it against it's will
I do enjoy that while their skill advantage does allow them to dunk on GMs and Nemos, those old suits get absolutely shredded when they fight something modern like the Byarlant Custom. Adds a certain feel of realism and technological progress
