Gungrave GORE is so unbelievably stupid that it circles back around into being incredible. This video was recorded live at / oboeshoesgames Shoutout to the Patrons / oboeshoesgames
Fun fact: The characters of Gungrave were designed by Yashuhiro Nightow, the creator of Trigun. He also named several of the characters, which explains a lot.
Oboeshoes is literally the target audience of the gungrave franchise Edit: fun fact and to clarify; gun grave was originally made “for [japanese] salarymen who would come home tired and just want to play a game”
@@oboeshoesgames I played a little of gungrave gore when it came out on gamepass, but it never really grew on me. Maybe i'll give gungrave another try, seems like it is a lot like devil may cry 5, only with the focus being on shooting rather than hack and slash.
Brandon Heat and Harry McDowell. Two friends capable of fighting against the entire world, but a giant criminal organization would imply the complete break of their world they once knew.
As generic as this game looks, I do kinda like the animated skull in the top left corner. It gives the HUD a little bit of personality in an otherwise derivative game. Reminds me of OG Doomguy's face.
Oboe and robocrab have are both mercenaries, sometimes they are in the same side, sometimes they must fight, but the deep bond of mutual respect they have for each other transcends all
"Is it a good game? Eh...is it a great game? Yes. On an objective scale of quality it doesn't score too high, however, on my scale of quality where the more bullets fired the higher the score is this game gets a one million out of ten." Lmfao
They took 3 years to make this shitshow of a game that has no weight to anything unlike the originals. Gungrave and GG: Overdose are amazing but not GORE.
You do do not get promotion in bad guy industry by having good ideas on minion design - This is what all the HR s in India say when they hire engineers
This may sound insane- but check the anime out! It’s genuinely great, and up till the end has nothing g to do with, well, any of the shit here. Really well directed, actual dark horse.
Shout out to BumblesMcFumbles for introducing me to the first game, and you for doing a vid on the latest one. Sometimes dead simple games can be great fun!
Did you ever play Binary Domain? That would be perfect for this channel. Squad based cover shooter from Sega, smack dab in the middle of the PS3’s brown era. The selling point was that you can shoot off the enemy robots limbs and they’ll keep crawling after you
Exploding 100,000 nobodies in the span of 5 minutes while dual-wielding absurdly powerful guns and hopping around like a rabbit on speed? Yeah that checks out.
Gamers need to understand that this game channels that old school arcade third-person shooter fun! It is the way that it is because that's how the original PS2 games were! You can't expect this game to be like those latest AAA games that follow a safe formula. This game is staying true to its roots and beginnings from manga to anime to video games!
I often prefer the 5/10 idiosyncratic low budget game that tries to do its own thing over the 9/10 AAA games that sre just following the latest gaming trends
Hold the phone, they are still making vidoegames in 2023 where the shooting is fun and you don't need to grind sidequests or level up or explore a copy paste open world, where you don't have to go through dialogue trees that you have no impact on and you don't have to be "immersed" in the "rich" story or "believable world". Koch Media is the hero we need.
Yeah man, AA games have been on the rise over the last few years. It's like 90% of what I play these days (even more than indies.) Feels freaking great. Especially because most of these games actually do have depth and a lot of replayability if you want to engage with it.
I totally agree, after all what were video games originally? A passion where fun and personal challenge were the main objectives, where replayability was a function of reliving the experience also with the second aim of perfecting knowledge of the game while art and music had the function of enriching the experience. Nowadays, especially AAA, aim to make gigantic games that last tons of hours, deep dialogues that aim to replicate cinematic experiences and above all side missions and/or collectibles for the sole purpose of artificially extending the longevity of a title, all in front of an audience that has the sole purpose of accumulating games, but without becoming emotionally attached to any of them. Indie games, Arcade games, but also our beloved Gungrave make us remember the charm of video games made in the "old way", where the gameplay is the absolute central fulcrum of the game and it will always be a pleasure to replay it (provided you appreciate its gameplay, but that's a matter of personal taste).
It doesn't matter how low budget it looks, GAMEPLAY IS KING. Still, I'm hoping for more demolition shots for Bunji and Quartz needs to be purchasable and upgradable!
Wellllllllllll…..Technically the switch version is getting Quartz as dlc. (Long story but iggymob, the devs, basically lost publisher support. So they’re focused on the switch version.)
Im glad that, even if somewhat ironic, this game is getting somewhat positively talked about after they made the effort to overhaul the game. We never get niche games like this anymore because most people can't get past the low budget aspects and realize theres a lot of fun to be had with this game
I see Mr Oboe is replying to comments, so I'll try to give a suggestion for a game too. Wolfschanze 1944 by Calaris Studios. The crappiest game ever. You destroy a tank in 2 kicks, everyone dies with one kick, you can throw a sausage, you can even fly (jumping on a box). In the end you kill Hitler in a blimp. Oh, and in Polish version all the voices are dubbed by the same guy who sounds like he just drank all the alcohol. He even voices a woman!
Hey Mr. OboeShoes! I actually own a musket, and can get us access to a forklift. If you ever want to come to rural Maine let's get some zamor spheres see what we can do
gungrave gore was originally supposed to be a gatcha game and then it was supposed to be an open world souls-like, thankful that the devs made an classic gungrave game instead
man ive been binging your vids today and having a blast, and i would love if you played any of the Saints Row games: either one of the good ones (like 2 or 3) or, um, the new one (which apparently killed Volition)
This video actually sold me on the game. 😂 Goretastic But seriously great vid. Ive been trying to figure out if this was a good game from finding videos on it and some of the videos I watched didn't really sell the game well enough for it it look enjoyable. I love arcade style games a lot and this seems like it's pretty good. Don't know if I should get the Switch or another version of the game. But from the looks, the switch version got a bit more support from the Devs.
I literally got into gungrave two days ago this is perfect timing lmfaoo, you should emulate the ps2 game its actually really good imo and its short which i like
