can i sugest hobbymio resin wash, try it out :) it helped me alot in removing resin mold substances :D of course every parts unit has to be lightly sand on to smoothen resin surface due inbalance surface that always exist on resin conversion kit :) great video by the way, double thumbs up

Hey PEPXI! Thank you so much for the suggestion! I really have been liking all the hobby Mio products that I've acquired, but sadly I don't think anyone in the US is bringing in the resin wash. 😭😭😭 But that's a great suggestion for anyone that can order it. I'm gonna pin this comment for other people to find! 😁 Thank you so much for the recommendation AND the comment. 😁

Very interesting and useful video. I have not used any resin kit on gunpla, yet, but your explanation is a gem in helping to understand the challenges of resin kit and will be very useful! I look forward to the full build videos. Ciao!

I'm about to save you a hell of a lot of money Mr. Therapist. For cleaning resin and plastic, get room temperature water and some denture tablets. Toss em in overnight the same way and then scrub with a toothbrush or an ultrasonic cleaner if you've got one. Boom. No more need for resin cleaner, purple power, etc etc. Works like a charm.

Good video about resin kit, unfortunately a bit short. Witch primer do you use. And in what ratio 1:1 1:1,5 or 1:2. Keep it up.
@PlamoTherapist
@PlamoTherapist 2 года назад
Hey Karsten! Don't worry, there's more videos to come. As for the primer. I use the Nazca at 1:1.5 and for the Mr. Surfacer, I use a 1:1 ratio. 😁 Thank you for the feedback and stopping by!

Nice video. I have a resin kit and I don’t know what to do. Can you show more detail about process? Why don’t you use mr surface 1000? I heard it was good for resin.
@PlamoTherapist
@PlamoTherapist 2 года назад
Hey Conan! Thank you so much for your suggestion! I will be adding more details as I move through the sections, but to answer your question. I don't use Mr. Surfacer 1000 because I only have 1500. 😅 As for the Nazca surfacers that I used, I picked those because I wanted to actually use them for their actual colors. In essence, it's one layer of primer and that's the color I wanted so I left it as just the primer 😁. Nazca is also a good option as I believe they're made by Gaia Notes which is another phenomenal paint brand. 😁

Nice, didn't expect this content. Can't wait for the sequel/progress. Is there any advice how to practice on a normal kit, before moving to resin kit? What skill that need to be trained/maximized? (that's my situation at the moment) Thanks!
@PlamoTherapist
@PlamoTherapist 2 года назад
Hey, that's a great question! I think the biggest skill is going to be painting (which includes masking), but sanding preparation is also an important step to avoid any paint peel up. While not extremely important if you buy a quality resin kit, but using putty to fix mistakes or fill gaps is helpful. Lastly simple part repairs with super glue in case you REALLY mess up is useful, but it's unlikely you'll be able to practice that on a regular kit unless you go intentionally snapping pieces in half. 🤣 I would say to give it a go if you feel like your paint skills are to to the task and if something happens, you can troubleshoot from there. Hope this answers your question. 😁

Good video! Thanks! Another RU-vidr from Korea “Momo modeling” does a great work on resin Gundam! He uses a nipper you could purchase at as Amazon called 3 Peaks MK-02! When you were applying panel lines, did you apply clear gloss to make it easier to apply? Is that a Hobby Mio type of dremel tool you were using? How long did you soak the resin parts with Purple Power? Thanks!
@PlamoTherapist
@PlamoTherapist 2 года назад
Hey Ray! Thank you for giving my humble channel a shot! Watching Momo had been a huge factor in encouraging me to give resin a shot and I will continue to watch and learn from their videos in the future too! 😁 As for the panel liner, I did not add a gloss coat as the paint itself is quite glossy. I've been doing this for some time and have not run into any issues but am purposely doing this to figure out when and why it's happening. Consider it an ongoing experiment if you will. 🤣🤣🤣 Thank you so much for the nipper recommendation! I totally forgot that Momo puts the tools in the top corner is the videos! The pen sander I am using is actually by DSPIAE. Their products have been hit and miss with me, but their nippers, pen sanders and scribing tools have all been amazing. 😁 As for the purple power soak, it was about 12 hours as I went to bed and picked up in the morning. I think 8 would still be adequate and even diluting it with some water helps to not use as much. 😁 Thank you for all the great questions and I hope to see you again in a future video. 🙇

How long do you need to soak the resin for with purple power?
@PlamoTherapist
@PlamoTherapist Год назад
Hi Jay! I would recommend at least 6 hours if you thin it with water like I do (about 50/50), I would give it 8 hours just to be safe. If you use straight purple power, I think you can cut the time down to 4 hours, but that can be expensive.

Are there any budget resin nippers you recommend? The ones I can find are the godhands and the price on those is kinda steep.
@PlamoTherapist
@PlamoTherapist 2 года назад
Hey! Great question and totally understandable. Let me look into it and get back to you. 😁
@PlamoTherapist
@PlamoTherapist 2 года назад
Hey there! So I did some research and if you have a pair of regular plastic nippers (not fancy side-cutters) you can use those, but just be extra careful when cutting the excess off. You can also use a hobby knife to shave down some bits too. Sorry for the long delay in responding. I wanted to be absolutely sure before I got back to you! 😁
