Gunther has grown on me immensely. So much so that now “Walter” seems strange to me. When I read his name I hear it in either Kiasers voice or the ring announcers. Can’t imagine either of them saying “Walter” with the same gusto. This guy deserves everything he’s getting. Dude has put in the work. His physical transformation has been incredible.
Samantha Irvin deserves a lot of credit for making this name change really worth it imo. The way she says it when she announces it, my god, *that* was when I was sold on Gunther.
Difference between iyo and gunther was people really struggled with the name change for gunther as for iyo they only really changed the last name which wasnt that big of a deal tbh
@vito7654 meh ive gotten use to the gunther name and tbh when u hear gunther it sounds terrifying meanwhile whenever i hear the name walter all i think of is fucking walter waite from breaking bad🤣🤣😭
"Sky" is a whole different thing to me, opposing to "Shirai". If you ask me, either change Sky to Sora, get Shirai back, or just ditch the "last name" for Iyo.
Even though he's a heel and i do mark out during matches and view him as a heel, i just can't help but cheer for him whenever he defends his title, he's one of the greatest ic champions ever and he really makes that belt feel special
He’s one of the best on the WWE roster. Great persona, good heel tactics, great in the ring, and his performance in that Royal Rumble match this last year was the story more people needed to talk about.
Answer like this one is the reason why I believe he will be successful in this business for a long time because it shows that he understands how the business works.
I remember seeing an interview where pete dunne was fine with his name being changed to butch, people being fine with sudden name changes is more common than you think
@@pum6454They're fine with it because at the end of the day wrestling is about making money. Only wrestlers who are marks for themselves would get upset, even if the name is legitimately terrible like butch.
This guy is great. He reminds me of the old school wrestlers who had Nazi or Russian gimmicks but in the interviews he actually seems like a good dude. His work is awesome physical and authentic. I believe everything he does in the ring. He would be great in any era. A match or a tag team with him and Rusev would be great
Nobody realizes that Imperium is 💯 a Nazi gimmick. The three members are billed as being from Germany, Austria, and Italy. Their mannerisms in the ring are rigid and militaristic. The world Imperiumnis a Roman Latin word that refers to supreme authority. The only thing missing is a swastika and a Nazi Salute.
Gunther is living proof of just keep your head down and work hard and you’ll get what you deserve. Changed his name and told him to lose weight. Did both and is now gonna be the longest reigning ic champion and going to the main event right after
Bro kills people in the ring and carves his fingerprints into chests, but he seems to be a sweet man outside the ring. I'd love to have a chat with him about everything and nothing, hearing him talk about his job would be so cool 😁
It’s really funny how a lot of us in this includes me shat on the name, Gunther, like we hated it with a passion, and now I think most of us have begun to love it.
Gunther is a household name now! WWE knocked it out the park getting this guy. “The Ring General” (Kaiser Voice) is also the coolest nickname for a wrestler.
He seems like such a chill guy. Genuinely a dude you'd want to grab a pint with and talk about sports, cars, anything really. His personality has probably gotten him very far with Triple H and creative. Such a positive guy. We need more people like him in this world.
I think a lot of the worry was the fact that if they're changing his name, what else are they changing. And then there was the whole mess of the name Stark being attached to it and who Gunther Stark was. Thankfully our fears were not necessarily warranted and he has got to remain mostly the same. One of the absolute best in the world
dudes got a point. basically every top star has had a name change at some point in their career, and a lot of the time that name change helped them move up the card. off the top of my head, the only ones in recent memory that havent had any sort of name change are brock lesnar, and randy orton. even guys like batista and john cena had name changes
It is a fair point since the company wants to fully own the character so they will try to avoid you using your own name incase you ever do leave so they can keep the rights for merch and other avenues to use the character. There's only been a few who have got away with using their own name since the 90s/ early 2000s.
ngl i love the name now. i was quite upset at first because walter is still what i prefer, but gunther works so well too. samantha irvin and ludwig kaiser made it great
