In part one of a three-part video interview with Guitarist magazine, guitar virtuoso Guthrie Govan shows us his latest Charvel prototype electric guitar - which he says is close to becoming a production model - and puts his pedalboard through its paces, including the brand new TC Electronic Hall Of Fame Mini Reverb.
Guthrie's amplifier throughout is a brand new Victory V100 Duke, which he is currently using on tour with Steven Wilson. Stay tuned for a full demo of the Victory V100 from Guthrie and an in-depth look at the retro-style Floyd Rose vibrato on his new Charvel.
Issue 374 of Guitarist magazine features a special Guthrie Govan cover feature, in which the guitar star discusses his future plans with Charvel, technique and new musical horizons. Check it out in print and digital forms from 18 October 2013.

@Gregorypeckory
@Gregorypeckory 2 года назад
Then good news; you can work on the bend for a few weeks and bend as well as Guthrie, maybe not as wide, but most of his (or anyone's) bends are between the range of zero and a whole step, occasionally a minor third, and rarely a major 3rd, but if you take the most useful ones; whole and half steps, then you certainly can do them as well as GG. I'm not saying anything about being as good as him overall because obviously that's nearly impossible. I'm just saying don't go overboard with the admiration to the point where you have a mystique built in your mind that every note he plays is always better than your own best sounding note: that's just false and approaching an unhelpful level of hero worship. Oops, just noticed how ancient your comments are. Oh well, in case you still feel that way, I'm going to go ahead and let it stay. Just don't complain about how old it is because I don't always check the dates.

I believe what you are trying to suggest is speech lessons taught by Guthrie... and I imagine he would have an incredibly sarcastic ‘lesson’ response to your comment. “Here’s how to talk, move your upper lip and lower lip in opposite direction while using your voice box to say a word... congratulations now you have ‘talked’.” LOL I don’t say this to be a joke, I only say this because I met him after an Aristocrats show in Nashville and we had a good conversation and he was probably the MOST sarcastic person I have ever met! It is just his mixture, mixture of his intelligence and British humor.

A large percentage of the population like cheesy mass produced music and then the rest splinter into tiny fragments and go out and find quality music that's specific to their desires. Leave the brainwashed to their Simon Cowell noise pollution because the rest of us will always know where to find what we're looking for.
