A right wagon , nice to see a video without somebody trying to show how fast they can go up and down the gearbox for a change . Driven right just as it would have been in service , Right driver and not a flip flop or frilly curtain in sight 👌👌👌.
Wow!-You shot me right back to '74 riding with my Dad at 10 with 20 tons of news print to Fleet street. Cant believe we slept on a piece of M.d.f.. Across these cabs. The spread axle tandem made a lot of clacking and banging through town full load. Thanks for great Cummins tune.
❤ Omg! Never thought I’d get to see a BigJ 4t running again. It was a joy to watch you in total harmony with this old Guy. Atkinson, Big j’s ERF & AEC were the main big 4 British units I had the pleasure of driving when working for Humber McVeigh’s in the early 80’s. 😊
Fantastic video Mr B. Your atki with the 220 Rolls video is a real reminder for me. I very often sit with my head phones on listening to the rolls puring. My dad used to have an ERF b series wiith a 220 rolls in it. Your video takes me back to very happy times riding with my dad sadly no longer with us. Thank you for the memories. Keep em coming.
@@StephenSheldon-ro6jd that’s what it’s all about. In fact today I watched one of my videos of the rolls atki. Not for anything else but to listen to it and remember. Cheers for your comment
The company I worked for, some 45 years ago, purchased 3 Guy six wheel tippers fitted with AEC 505 engines. One of the drivers came into the workshop to complain that these new wagons were terrible. Underpowered, he stated, so much so a pushbike had overtaken him going up hill!
Ive seen so many pictures and bits off this on facebook recently, been waiting to see a cool video of it! you can tell you know your way aound the fuller box
Here in South Africa, SAR. South African Railways used the 335 big time in a lot of their truck fleets mostly International Harvesters. Beautiful simple engines as with the Fuller 9 speed. Would be even better if you fitted Jake brakes!!
Love it, jealous now.. As for what you describe as your attempt to drive it-you certainly know your way through that gearbox. The vids a bit short though, Lands End to John O Groats sounds good!
@@Mr_b_yorkshire_farmer I hope you do. And if you do, please include exterior sounds, as in hearing the truck when at the roadside. Love the combination of the Big J with a Cummins. Drove one in the 70's with a King low loader trailer. Nothing beats the bark of a Cummins, IMHO.
Great video Mr B! Just wanna say I really appreciate these virtual ride alongs on classic lorries. Everytime these Truck Rallys come up I'm always curious as to what you would get your hands on next. Hope more of the lads will give you the opportunity to take their lorries for spin sometime. All the best from Saint Lucia.
I was trained on proper double cluch truck the gear stick was rigid 6 speed hardly any movement its all about road speed to engine revs after little while you dont even think about it,sometimes i change gears in my car no clutch just revs and sound
That's the 14 litre Cummins isn't it? British trucks of that period had drivelines offering pretty high performance, but cab comfort (and crash safety) hardly changed from the 1950s.
