Guy Clark is one of, if not, the greatest songwriter of all time. This masterpiece of a song came out over 20 years after his first album. The longevity and dedication to the craft is something we've rarely seen. Thank you for reacting to this.
Holy crap- nobody reacts to Guy Clark! Thank you! Guy is an absolute Legend- one of the greatest song writers in history! They say he’s not the best singer ever, and technically he isn’t, but he gives me chills as soon as he opens his mouth. Down here in Texas, Guy Clark is royalty. Awesome reaction!
3x I've heard of people walking into a studio & Guy was in the back or something, just talking. Every one them said when they heard that voice they knew it was him. Guy Clark was one of a kind. Btw, Did u know that if Beto wins it'll not only help y'all out but the rest of us get a JI400unit Texas album out of it?
Thank you for listening to Guy Clark. My favorite “ Let Him Roll”, “She Ain’t Goin Nowhere” Guys favorite. “L.A. Freeway” Texas singer/songwriter. Have you done any Townes Van Zandl? Try one of Townes ‘ The Tower Song, Flying Shoes, Nowhere to Fall. Townes next to Dylan is my favorite singer/songwriter. Love Guy, too.😊
Another great reaction. I think if you react to Guy Clark’s “out in the parking lot” you will get a taste of his America Folk genre. Dublin Blues imo is about as perfect a song as there is
Sean Connery called this woman , the voice whom neck has been touched by god , this singer is consider the best of one of the best singers of ancient celtic music , and its fair to make a monographic video of Karen Matheson, even vocal teachers and coaches analizazing her technic voice
Thanks Harri. I love Guy Clark. Along with Townes Van Zandt (his best friend) and Steve Earle are three of the best song writers to come out of Texas. In the case of Townes one of the best to ever do it.
I saw Guy a few years before he died. What a treat! And yes, one of the greatest songwriters ever. And don't forget Jerry Jeff along with Townes and Steve!
What about Rodney? A far better songwriter than Earle IMO (& pretty much everybody else's). Maybe the best of all the people Guy mentored (incl Steve).
@@zelmo999 Rodney Crowell is okay. Not my fave. I think Doc Watson, Kris Kristofferson, Hank Williams Sr and Townes are the Mount Rushmore of song writers. Guy, Steve, Lyle, Jerry Jeff and Ray Wylie are right there too. NOBODY gives Ray Wylie Hunbard the respect he deserves. Hayes Carll is outstanding too.
Guy Clark was a great talent. The first I heard from him were some songs played from "My Favorite Picture of You" which is absolutely one of my favourite albums. I've had him down on my list of choices and this makes it fairly certain that It's one of my choices next month. I'd never heard this version of the song before, just the solo on "Songs and Stories" so I'm going to thank the person who picked it. Karen Matheson is the lead singer with Capercaillie, the Scottish folk band and they are brilliant in their own may so this is an inspired pairing.
Adam, thank you for this request. I must admit I was not familiar with this artist, but I am definitely glad to know about him now. Another nice reaction from Harri 🌺✌️
" I have heard Doc Watson sing Columbus Stockade Blues" MY favorite line. Two songs of Guy's that you should listen to, My Favorite Picture of you. and Desperados Waiting for a Train. You will be missing out if you don't listen especially Desperados.
I would love for you to react to Karen Matheson's band Capercailie performing Four Stone Walls. Its a Celtic band with the flutes and violin are absolutely fantastic. I'm sure you will really enjoy it.
L.A. Freeway!, Rita Ballou, A Nickel for the Fiddler, and written by his wife: Come from the Heart. (And now the Clark is out of the way, someday somebody will react to the genius of Doc Watson...)
Guy Clark is another underrated talent. Never crossed into the mainstream, but beloved by people who are familiar with his output. I’m a bit unsure about the story of this song. With all the other references to European locations and culture, I always assumed it was about him reflecting on a relationship while feeling homesick on a foreign tour in Ireland, but looking into it, it might actually be Dublin, Texas where he was when he wrote it. That’s not really so far from Austin though, and I kind of feel the rest of the song, such as him comparing the David and the Mona Lisa to Doc Watson, works better if I imagine him actually in the more known Dublin. Definitely recommend you check out more from him. Desperados Waiting for a Train is perhaps the best to get a better sense of his storytelling. Also rather fond of The Guitar and The Randle Kinfe.
That is Music Royalty if there ever was one. Guy Clark, Travis Clark, Jerry Douglas, Jay Unger... I mean, really? Only Guy Clark would have thrown a rope at these particular virtuosos grouping.
