Luckily I know how to fix everything on it, and I keep it well maintained, otherwise it would have been gone already. It runs great. Almost 5 years now. I have another video coming up which will help people locate noises on their GY6. Thanks For Watching

at 1 minute 12 seconds in the vid. you state that the regulator also regulates the A/C voltage going to the headlights(your talking about in the STOCK wiring harness condition) . How can the A/C voltage from the stator be regulated by the regulator before going to the headlights when the tap going to the headlights has already come off down by your fork ?

Thank you, I don't have much experience about electric stuff but I actually thought about this a while ago on my AX-100 stator but where not sure about trying it until I found this video. Went from something like 6-7V to 15V. The AC waves that I got out from the two wires took out each other so I had the most power with only one wire connected but it was a bit to low to run everything and charge the battery but now it seems I get plenty enough. Time will tell if I burn something up.

Your links seem dead. But for the rectifier/regulator are you just using a pair of 7812 in parallel for regulation? What values for the smoothing caps? And using separate caps for each 7805? Any other filtering? (If I got it right from the vid)

hi i been watching this video a cpl of times of and on . i have a 2015 taotao thunder 50cc . it have a 5 wire 8 pole stator ac . if i get a 5 wire 8 pole dc stator and RR would that work or no my headlights have a manual switch for turning on and off . my current stator is dead right now i was riding it and it died like someone turned my key off on me lol . thank you for ur time

I’m lost at 8:20 where you said the tap ( yellow wires) I mean why do we have to cut and tie it to a switch ? Do you have a diagram to show to how to do that ? Kinda hard to follow in the video …

ok heres my issue I have a 2015 Taotao 50 scooter and i wasnt getting spark anymore so i bought everything it couldve been, a new Stator, and CDI, and Ignition coil & plug. to make a long story short the ebay sent me a stator that was dc when i needed ac, at first i didnt know there was a difference untill it was to late i snipped the different stator plug connected the wires, the bike started and the headlight flickered then popped. I cant return the DC stator cause i snipped the plug off, i realize now thats whats happened probably is the dc stator damaged my ac RR and blew the headlight. (my question to you is) can i buy a full current DC RR, wire the yellow wire like you explained in the video. if i do all this should this work and not blow my headlight anymore and make it to were i can keep the dc stator on my scooter

I door get the point of this video @0:51 the schematic shows that the charging circuit white wire is already covered to full end of winding and yellow which is for lightening is center tapped. So should not you be just installing full wave rectifier and good to go? For headlight conversion to dc you could just disconnect the yellow wire h honing from stator and hook it up to the battery?

Dude can you pull the yellow wire out the stator altogether and replace with a much longer one and take straight to end wire ? instead of putting in a link wire ?

If a wire is too short, you can add more wire.

I have no idea why they don't, maybe to keep costs down. You get 2x the power since you're using both peaks of the AC waveform.

What would make your headlight stay on even when the key is out of the ignition,which blows the fuse,I know a short but where should I look?

The problem could be anywhere. I have no idea what you may have done to the wiring, or what the wiring diagram is for your make/model scooter. I suggest finding a wiring diagram online and trace everything. Thanks for watching

I have a GY6 150cc China scooter (about a year old now)I ordered a rectifier regulator could I use a full wave rectifier if the original is not a full wave ? I guess I'm not exactly sure what I have so can I use either full wave or non full wave ,when replacing just the regulator rectifier ?

No, you need to use the same type that was installed. To use a full wave, you'd need to convert like I show in the video. Thanks for watching!

I saw this video today and finally realized what I was doing wrong with my China scoot. Although it would be described as a 150cc GY6 B body it came with a lot of things that you normally find on a 50cc. I had replaced the old stator and rectifier with new ones (full AC) not realizing I had been running half AC. The harness has the connectors for both types of stators. If I was using new full AC components would I only need to modify the yellow wire to get the headlamp working properly?

this is super confusing he points finger on stator on 2:23 and 2:35 when he is talking about yellow wire at a rectifier (that is located on the steering), by the way that step is optional. on 3:59 its also be easier to understand if you draw 7 winding (not 8) as only total of 7 poles of winding being used for lighting (5 poles) + charging (2 poles).

I tried to follow your steps exactly, and my headlights are now controlled by a switch, but I can't get my scooter to start. It turns over and over, but won't fire. Did I somehow disrupt my spark system? Any help wood be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi Troy. It sounds like you touched the wrong wires from the stator, or left a wire harness disconnected. Please refer to my GY6 troubleshooting video to test the stator & CDI. Thank You!.

Conversion question: Have (I think) full wave rectifier (three yellow leads to it). New engine came with stator that isn't -- other than gnd, signal has white, yellow, red/black. Can I just connect white & yellow leads to 2 of the 3 yellows to the rectifier? The red/blk I guess is for headlights, but my scoot already has all that running from battery ... so what about it? To the third yellow rectifier lead?

3 yellow wires sounds like a 3 phase input being converted to DC.

I figured out that the stator I have is faulty. I got a new one. It doesn't have the same ground wire that I need to solder the yellow wire to. It looks like a lot of the newer stators coming out of China don't have that same ground wire coming off the last pole (the one that is soldered to the green wire before you cut it). Are these just wired a little different? Where do I find the ground wire to complete the circuit? Thanks for your help!

You need to locate each end of the full winding. Use a DMM on a low resistance setting to help figure it out. :-)

They all are very similar, you'd need to take resistance measurements across the stator wires, see where they go, in order to see how it was put together. Then compare your design to what's shown in the video. Thanks for watching!

I'm confused, if you take a feed from the battery for the switch you mention adding to feed the headlight doesn't that give you the required DC for the headlight without the need for a full wave rectifier?

The headlight operates directly off the stator using AC volts once the engine starts up.

as standard yes, so even if you add the new rectifier do you still need to feed the headlight from the battery as you have done here? the reason I ask is that I need to eliminate flutter on an LED headlight bulb on a similar wiring set-up and I'm not sure if a full wave rectifier will work as the headlight feed from the stator also bypasses the rectifier. ta

You need to watch and follow my video very carefully. The headlights are connected to the DC output of the regulator, not the AC coming off the stator.

thanks, yes I realise that from the video hence why I asked about the need to change from half wave to full wave. In my instance then I could simply feed the headlight with DC from the battery and cure the flutter even though I retain the half wave rectifier?

Sorry I'm still confused, so you moved the yellow wire on the stator to give more power to the light circuit but then disconnect it from the lights, so you now have both the white and yellow feeding the battery via the rectifier yes? so is there now any advantage to be had from even having the yellow wire? can't it all now be done with the white wire?

Would a gy6 regulator work if it were wired into a 6v motorcycle stator to convert it to 12v?

It should, just don't exceed the voltage / current rating of the regulator.

It wont work. 6 volts stator must be rewound to output more than 12 volts for the regulator to work and shunt excessive voltage when you gain RPM.

You simply cannot jump to an AC system coming from a DC system when you have a DC-CDI..AC cdi need external High Voltage generator that is wounded on a stator..You will find a stator with a single POLE, with windings that is covered by white tape and the other poles doesn't have any. That stator is AC-CDI system.

anyone... I’m looking to charge an extra battery, how do I (or what to google etc..) harvest the extra wasted shunted amps from the Rect/Regulator of the scooter?? hello Help.. I have replaced all the electric parts stator ignition coil CDI starter relay.But I still can't get it started.. before I replaced all this the starter motor would spin but would not start.but would start by kick starting...I have spark.but won't start..and now starter motor will not spin... also noticed that when I squeeze the handle to electric start. I see my gas gauge drop when I squeeze the handle. I guess meaning I have a short... the parts I bought don't match up with the colors of the harness wires so now I'm confused about that.if someone could explain what connects in what ic the starter relay, ECT thanks again.i can't afford to put it in the shop.

But make sure the end of winding stator is also remove from the ground and solder yellow and the end of winding together well it’s pretty easy

Good question!, but then half wave system is the basic electrical system on some models. The thing about the half wave, the headlight is being driven by AC which is coming out from the stator other windings. In a Half wave there are two windings, the one that powers the headlight which brightens in term or engine RPM, and the charging which then charge the battery. The only reason why others are converting to Full wave, if you add more lights and accessories. This way is called overloading the battery, and since the discharge rate is now faster than the charging a half wave can give in. Full wave here is done to give more juice to the battery and maintain the charge. Thus not having a flat battery. Half wave is just for stock lighting. adding more lights, without altering the charging system will give you flat battery sooner. Author of mastercircuits,blogspot.com here. Full wave is also proven to have better efficiency even when idle and all lights are off.

Thank you. Finally got around to doing it and it works flawlessly, with a 6 pole stator. No more flickering lights when I rev my scooter. HID lights are performing better as well. Might just be a coincidence but it seems my auto enrichener is working better, used to stick and hasn't since. Charges at 14.74 at 3,500 rpm and 13.28 at idle. Only issue I has was finding the "splice" for the lights. Tore the whole scooter apart looking for it before I noticed a dark green wire attached to the rectifier in the same spade as the yellow. Connected the dark green to the ACC on and the lights work with the key. Thanks again.

So Iv come to the truth took one apart my self the stock regulator/rectifiers are actually full wave rectifiers on half of the spayed terminals on the plug the other 2 pins / spayed are only half wave and only have one part a diode that’s it
