I think you asked the wrong person if you wanted any suggestions regarding new music to discover because I'm a person who has stuck in the past and didn't listen to recent music or actively search for what was hyped recently. LOL. I even rarely listen to music. If I may suggest, for J-Rock, Janne Da Arc, Aldious, and, of course, L'Arc~en~Ciel, Gackt, SID, and Kagrra, B'z, or J-Pop, Kalafina, FLOWER, Sandaime J Soul Brothers, Every Little Thing, Southern All Stars, and Hitomi Shimatani,.

Actually, I don't mind if they are old, because I mainly listen to old songs too. But my current knowledge on japanese songs is basically limited to: anime songs, Ayumi Hamasaki, HAL and m.o.v.e. So anything besides that will be a discovery for me. By the way, I discovered HAL by the song "I'll Be The One" on the anime Hikaru no Go, which I watched some years ago. But only last year I finally searched for their albums and fell in love for them. LOL. But I don't know japanese yet, so now I'm trying to memorize the lyrics from my favorite songs, at least. I don't mind at all; the longer, the better, because I thought since you were listening to HΛL, which was an older J-pop group, you already had a lot of J-musicians you listened to, and anime was the best source to discover J-music, even though the only animes I watched were back in the 90s or early 00s. LOL. If I may make a suggestion again, I will recommend you J-R&B artists like Beni, Jasmine, and Def-Tech. For J-Pop, artists under the EXILE Tribe were worth looking for, including Kana Nishino and a band called MONKEY MAJIK. Their singer and the guitarist were foreigners, so their music was a bit different. You should check out their songs like "Fly," "Around the World," and "Picture Perfect." Sorry, it seems I can't stop myself from typing and making suggestions again. LOL.
