It's too appropriate that Sasuke Uchiha voices Haseo here. Both were about the same character put into different situations and story lines.

I remember when the games were first announced waaaaaaaayyyyy back in 2005. It led with Haseo fighting Tri-Edge and let me just tell you those were top of the line graphics, especially the fight itself. It was smooth and amazing to watch.

I'll say, I bought the trilogy with the extra stuff on steam recently and my pc can't even run it unless you like slideshows and waiting 3 minutes for controls to register. My PCs not even old, they just did a good job with graphics.

I still remember on the PS2 if you had the original .hack games 4 set save file on your memory card the name of Kite “triedge” is replaced with the name of the main character of your save file, it completely broke the 4th wall for me, because I didn't know.

I like how most of these people treat Haseo like some newbie, but he was likely higher leveled than any of them until he got Data Drain'd back to 1. Like...literally a hacker beat him via bug exploitation.

Thanks! I put down the trilogy after a long while and wanted to pick it back up. Basically JUST started part 2 and needed a refresher on the story before jumping back in!

"If you succeed you'll be just like the PKs themselves" is some of the dumbest bs I've ever heard. That's like saying it's wrong to give a murderer the death penalty because by killing a murderer you become a murderer. It's not true in the slightest. Killing the guilty and killing the innocent will never, under any circumstance, be either morally or logically comparable to one another, and its utterly retarded to suggest otherwise. It's one of my least favorite tropes in media.

Haseo is the seasoned MMO player who is just over everyone’s shit. He works a 9-5 at a shitty gas station and logs on after so he doesn’t kill anyone in real life.

That is until he makes friends with Pi and Kun. Then he works for CC Corp on various projects and game functions. He eventually becomes co-workers with and a fellow admin to Pi and her team.

4:06:26 This scene always infuriated me because by now most players would be max level and probably won in a single melee hit. So they, and especially me, DID WIN WITHOUT USING OUR AVATAR. The game pretends like I lost, had no chance of winning, but it required me to win and took place at a point in time where where a single hit from me easily beat the NPC. I HATE WHEN GAMES DO THE FORCED LOST CUTSCENE AFTER REQUIRING THE PLAYER TO WIN THE PRIOR BATTLE.

The stupid thing is the same could be said for a LOT of the fights in this game. Like Bordeauxs gang was getting demolished by me and every fight would have been won without an Avatar. If the AI was slightly better for the arena fights and we're actually challenging, or even designed to match your level or were a little higher to make it harder, I could see that. Or even having Haseos transformation come about from something purely emotional like Bordeaux mocking haseo for possibly losing so hard his level reset or asking "did you meet your tri-edge?!" And after getting a cheap shot Haseos urge to kill while constantly trying to summon his avatar would make sense, or having a warlock who casts debuffs on us and Atoli to weaken us while getting hammered since Silibus wouldn't draw some of the fire. I get that we're supposed to be "weak after getting data drained, working our way back to our previous strength" but that fit best for our 1st form. 2nd form should have been shown as strong but not legendary in cutscenes.

Edit: I even handicapped myself by using the starting gear haseo had as the terror of death because it looked cool and lined up with the cutscenes and the way haseo played. Still dominated the fights

Unfortunately it’s a common cliche in jrpgs, gameplay wise you could be absolutely destroying your enemy however then the story scene comes along and surprise you’re the one getting their ass kicked.

I jokingly refer to Last Recode as "baby mode" a lot because of the balance changes made for it. Last Recode vs G.U. has you gaining at bare minimum an extra level through the increased bonus Rengeki EXP if you're only keeping pace with the story (I have tested this myself). The player also just takes significantly less damage in general, and Alkaid was probably an encounter whose AI was nerfed along with others (the first phases of the final bosses of volumes 1 and 2 were completely lobotomized in Last Recode).

I must say thank you for this. For me, and idk if anyone has had this problem but this first game is unplayable. Everytime I tried to save, it get to the "saving, please don't turn off console" and then stay like that indefinitely. I ended up just saying fuck it and downloaded a save file that was 100% done. That way I'm not fucked when I move to the next game. This video allows me to not be behind on story as well. So again, thank you so fucking much. =)

Except Guts didnt have help. Haseo had a small party of healers helping him out so much less cool. Also, the dark swordsman/hidden darkness manifesting in him/giant sword also seem like more than homages to the Black Swordsman.

Its not like the 100 pks didnt have any healers or werent respawning and going back to keep fighting until another char started guarding the gateway, also the small party healing him was killed a few minutes after the fight start and i think at they were healing everyone when they fight star not sure about that part though

EJ's Game Theater yeah but I'm talking about this story specifically. I'd expect a less typical story from a series that has had so many other stories set in a mmo. I'm sure it get more complex later based on what I've heard about other titles but for the first act of the game to be so generic, it ends up not standing out and I could see most newcomers not even making it to the last boss of this part of the game.

ponquinful it's the other way around. SAO is the one that ripped off .hack GU. This game existed when the PS2 released back in the early 2000's. Now that alone shows how .hack is the OG isekai anime/game/manga. SAO appeared 10 years after this baby, how come .hack is the one ripping SAO off? Lol
