Haesteinn! The Legend! | Vikings of the Mediterranean | CK3 | Part 1 

I did a game where I started as Norse in Kiev, conquered Crete to make a Varangian culture(Norse-Greek hybrid) and conquered the Mediterranean isles. Definitely a fun area to viking in. A fun thing I like to do is adopt the Practiced Pirates cultural tradition, so you can both continue to raid and convert to a religion that you don't have to reform.

You could add the scandinavian elective succession law to your duchy, which would allow you to choose the primary heir and not worry about having to many sons, and you wouldn't need to worry about not getting support as long as you don't get any count or higher tier vassal. Sorry for any bad grammar or misspellings

btw master Chewy if you want to make the "æ" letter. You can make it by holding down "alt and press 0230" and then you release alt. it will make the æ letter for you bud

Long time ck2 and eu4 player. I haven't seen decent long play ck3, and I want to study the game more before getting it. ck2 is so good it's hard to move on. I appreciate the stream.

Apart from removing the malus to prestige I don't believe there are any reasons to have concubines. Personally I eat the malus it's worth it for a stable realm.

Nice! I did something like this before in a modded game, excpet I saw that the country that owns Scicily was weak, so I went after them and started on Scicily.

When you start, check your Council. Often the people can be swapped to have better matches to their respective council positions. Ones with low scores, 15 or less, can give you bad events so try to at least have someone with 16+ skill in the council positions. I'd recommend to marry your unmarried males to women with high Learning/Intrigue to fill those council positions, and for your Physician. Then do the same with your unmarried women, but fill Diplomat, Marshal, Steward male only council positions, with the remainder in high prowess for knights. Don't go to war without a physician (ideally someone young and with high learning). They will treat your wounded knights (so they don't die), and the physician will gain experience. Not having an experienced, high learning, physician can result in diseases wiping out your entire family and court (game over). to pull up the character finder, push the "..." button on the screen (three dots no quotes). Or press the keyboard shortcut "c".

"We need to get our income up instantly by building buildings." - ignores the gold mine in Cagliari to build some farms giving 0.5 instead of 3. Also you should have Secure the Mediterranean decision, which allows you to, when you have Mallorca, Sardinia, Corsica and Palermo, to form Baleo-Tyrrhenia, making all de jure, give an increase to renown generation and most importantly, give a CB on everything with a coast.

Hey Chewy, when did they nerf Haestein by removing his commander trait and giving him Whole of Body? I’m trying to restart my Norse to Tamil game after the religion changes around the culture update down there?

Everytime I play Haesteinn I have only one or two choices for religious leader :( Anyone knows why ? All the members of the council seem so ineffective even when they have a good level. :/Any other good Asatru feodal leader ? Thanks

Hey Chewy, curious if you ever plan to play any CK2 as well? I like CK3 but CK2 was the first PC game I ever bought so it's got a special place for me that could never be replaced. Plus, I tend to be better at it! :D

I know this video is 6 months old, just started watching. If anyone sees this, why are Chewyshoots notification icons (at the top) different to the standard icons?

I would recommend to convert Sardinia to norse/form hybrid culture rather than convert to local culture. It is better to keep ones culture rather than faith as a norse viking if you can't keep both. (Norse is in any case one of the best cultures in the game atm).
