If they played David Allen Coe’s “underground album” songs, we’d ALL be in jail before the first verse of the first song finished. thank you PC police. 🎵🎶🎸🤘✌️👍
Lord I miss the 70's when the "OUTLAW MOVEMENT" really started...WILLIE,WAYLON, DAC, MERLE, JONES, B.J.SHAVERS, PAYCHECK, HANK JR, KRISTOFFERSON, CASH,JERRY JEFF WALKER, TOMPALL GLASER, & JESSIE COLTER. I SAW EVERYONE OF THEM AT THE HOUSTON CO.FARM CENTER WHEN I LIVED IN DOTHAN ALABAMA. THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER ERA OF COUNTRY MUSIC TO COMPARE!!!
Randy Miller Glaser and colter weren't outlaw country though. Jessie was only by extension. Jones, cash and one or two of the others were around long before outlaw country.
Daniel Smith Yes you are right...but I saw an interview in the 80s with Glaser, Colter, Waylon, Willie, & Hank Jr. They were talking about the outlaw movement and the Outlaw Album that started this new era. Waylon said that when Paycheck, Coe, and the rest I mentioned saw what was happening around Texas that they all wanted to be involved and that it was able to let the younger country fans hear them and it took off from there. That's what I was talking about...
David killed it here. He’s the definition of an Outlaw. He lived an outlaw life that Merle or Waylon never lived. One of the best writers in country music history.
I agree Waylon didn't live the outlaw life but c'mon Merle was the biggest outlaw going, just because he didn't act rowdy didn't mean he wasn't just as big an outlaw as David, they are both equal, also I have to say I think Merles just as good a writer as David. PS I'm not trying to change your opinion, just giving mine
Merle Haggard was a prisoner in the audience when Johnny Cash played Folsom Prison Blues (actually at San Quentin and not Folsom). And Waylon once blew up a venue with dynamite bc they didnt pay him
Merle most certainly was an outlaw. Waylon wasnt quite a real outlaw but was still a badass. Get your facts right re-tarred. Merle broke out of prison 7 times
@@Dusas1029 Merle was only in jail because of burglary and that was it. DAC went to prison I believe for burglary too but he killed a fellow inmate for hitting on him and got put on death row, and even after that I believe he has been in jail a couple times after that but I think one time was for drugs indefinitely. That’s what I meant when I was referring to Merle and Waylon, yeah Waylon did Drugs but so did DAC, and Merle did go to jail but after Merle saw Johnny Cash play he straightened out and got out of prison to pursue music. Most of the outlaw shit came from the rugged sounds and musical freedom of the genre, not so much actually being one which is why I said DAC really was the embodiment of the genre.
To all . Merle Haggard looking like he's enjoying himself and enjoying one of his greatest hits being enjoyed and played with passion. Merle approved or it wouldn't have been . RIP Merle no one can replace.
I think DAC had been an outsider for so long that this concert was a celebration for him and recognition that he belongs with the legends. I saw him in a dive bar the same year as this concert and I wish this was the version of himself he would have given us. He didn't seem into it at all and his set list was very short.
To be fair he’s not very agile anymore that casino incident really messed him up guy can hardly walk and I’m sure the drugs messed him up something fierce too
@@7thcavretro I saw him before the casino incident, he spent a lot of time ranting about not being appreciated, came to the stage late, but to his credit the songs he did sing were great.
David Allen Coe came in and stole the show haha but that’s not surprising at all. But Merle was always my favorite singer m, we have a band and play this song, I sing lead then play lead guitar and will pass it off to one of the other 2-3 guitarists in the band it’s always fun!!
Little Bob showed up @ my Moms House in a Very Rare form. My Mom was so worried, I was too. The Doctor has me in a Bootcan because I fell doing what I wasn't supposed to be doing. I've got three broken bones in my rite foot. And all I was trying to do was carry a box of groceries for my Mom down to the house. I ended going face first into the porch, I had this Knot on the Right side and and one just over the top. That's why I was so worried about Bob & his Daughter Making it up the front yard.🤔
I never thought that working was bad. I love to work. All the times I've loafed I felt like a fricken loser. Then I went to work and I felt so much better. I'm not blue unless I'm unemployed and as I get older I frown at the thought that I might get too old to work. I love to work and I'll work my ass off as long as I can man!
+ATEERIPALO I really dont like DAC,Just because ive been on the same stage with him,he is a prick,,But damm,He kicked this songs ass!!!!!!!!!!!!! Awesome singer
Saw the original broadcast of this concert and yes, Jack Ingram was painfully in the wrong place, the chick that was on there wasn't much better. Toby Keith is the real deal though, study up on him and what he came through to get where he is!
Toby Keith is friends with and very well liked by merle and many other of the older guys, if hes good enough for them hes good enough for me. Toby Keith has talent.
I completely understand Happened to me 1-12-03 And it’s the hardest thing ever especially when I’ve been working for 40 years 5-6 days a week and 8-12 hours a day Hard to just sit around all day waiting for my wife to come home from work it’s so degrading to not be able to provide for my family and kids But it’s better than dieing I guess (My heart’s working 15 percent) So nothing can be done except a transplant but I’m not gonna be put on the list so someone younger than me can have it if one becomes available😂
If they played David Allen Coe’s “underground album” songs, they’d ALL be in jail before the first verse of the first song finished, lol, thank you PC police. 🎵🎶🎸✌️🤘👌👍
Toby Keith IS currently The Man. He's a Good-Hearted, Stand-Up Righteous Dude in My Book. Are you saying these other guys sold out?! I'm sure they'd have an Issue with YOU....Tuff Guy!!! MrFerbids
+Jason Horne none of them were clowns they are all great singers, some better than others. they all have different styles but all have one thing in common, they are all traditionalist country music singers and great ones
David stole the show. As he should Hes written more songs than the rest combined. Made allot of people allot of money but gets bo respect because of the xrated album. Kid rock wouldn't be as big as he is without David ghost writing his 3 biggest hits
