This has got to be Toby's greatest on stage memory. To be able to be on stage with Meryl. It doesn't get any bigger or better than that. Only George Jones compares. How lucky we are. Have been.

There are songs that are written for what our world is like at that time, but many songs(this is one of them) that seem to be as relevant as the years go by, or even more so. That's the true testament to just how great a songwriter this man was!
It just proves that our country always had issue and always will. Nothing is ever perfect. The crap we’re going through is probably easier to deal with than the stuff that went on before we were around!

I got to see Merle in one of his last concerts here in rural Idaho in a small casino venue. Held probably 200 ppl. His son was selling the T-shirts. Was so awesome and fun! RIP MERLE AND TOBY! Two huge PATRIOTS! And the song is more relevant today than ever before.

I saw Meryl haggard live at the route 66 casino in Albuquerque NM it was wild I got so drunk and yelled so much and met a teacher and her husband and stayed The night with them. After party. 🥳

You are DEAD ON RIGHT!!! Toby loved Merle and still does! He shows the utmost respect for his predecessors in Country Music. Merle's last show, Toby finished because Merle had such difficulty breathing that, Toby took over and did 8 more songs! These two together, showed of been COUNTRY MUSIC DUO of the YEAR!!! I have seen Merle haggard in person at the forum in 1988. When I first saw Alabama in person. Merle was great on stage, I have been a country fan since 1980. When I first my favorite country radio station in Palmdale California with my parents, than then we moved to San Fernando valley California

They both are playing guitars, plugged in (toby's wireless) and in the correct key. They're both pros and players as well as singers. Anyone who can write and sing 20 plus number 1 hits knows damn well how to play his guitar.

I Love Mighty Merle Haggard !!! I have all my life. I am 57 yrs old and still think I sound pretty darn close to his sound.
