@@izumiseiho5380 I couldn’t agree more. Hailan was the only real support Ruyi had besides her close attendant- the one who she saw get beaten and then promoted her to her service. Ruyi was a good Empress and I’m certain she always meant well. But I believe Ruyi was so depressed from being targeted & so mistreated by the other women of the harem that it made her passive to the point of self detriment by the time she’d become the Empress. Hailan was fearful at first but she quickly stopped walking in fear and learned to walk in confidence by knowing she was championing the truth and all that was good & righteous. She was a true Queen in nature, intelligence & temperament. And that’s exactly the kind of support Ruyi needed. Love this show so much.

Then others she’s sort of manipulating her with Jia. Was that just due to her thinking she was competing with Ruyi for empress? I know I saw where later she sort of apologizes to Ruyi

@kjhjh.l jhkjl. Didn’t Ruyi know nothing about that? She’s always told Hailan not to touch the children and she was sad about the empress son dying, it was Hailan who told her not to mourn for her and that is was the empress’ karma. Ruyi was in the cold palace during that time and I really don’t think she knew anything about it. I think there was even a scene where she sort of asked Hailan who denied doing it. Ruyi truly seemed to care about all the kids, even the empress despite what the empress had done. She just never had the chance to be around the empress kids so it’s like hearing about some stranger losing a child, it’s sad but you don’t have a dog in that fight. And when Ruyi raised the first prince she truly loved him, she was devastated when he died

Sometimes she has ambitions that make her step on other people and sometimes learn the hard way. She can be a friend who will stay by your side when no one will but can be vile when she thinks ur on the way. She maybe ur ex friend but later shell come back with full sincerity.
