My daughters and I, our hair thrives with hair grease. We use a sulfate shampoo, deep conditioner, leave-in, seal with Blue Magic, and style with twists or braids. Finally somebody saying something. Thought I was the only natural that still uses hair grease.

My ends didn't stop breaking off until I started using hair grease. Oil wasn't sealing in nothing for me and I had all kinds of fairy knots.

I’m 42 and going right back to my roots and using Indian Hemp grease-the one with the bits in it too. We need to stop with the selective memory...we know good and well that’s how we had our hair done as kids🙄 it’s HOW and WHEN you apply the grease🤷🏽‍♀️

I do what works for me. Everyone is different to each it’s own. Me personally I use a sulfate shampoo I don’t care if it strips my hair cuz I always deep condition which is the whole point of deep conditioning. I need to know my scalp is clean cuz for one I do go lengths without washing my hair. Grease works for me and thick oils. I wash my hair in hot water well as hot as my scalp will allow me. I will use un natural products if it works on my hair. Find what regime works for you and your hair. Oh I’m a blue magic coconut oil hair grease queen! My hair loves grease. Now sometimes when I wash and deep condition my hair I might just use grease twist it up and leave out the door but the next day or 2 I’ll take the twisted bun out then I’m spraying aloe Vera juice and really get in my head and apply my leave in conditioner and re-seal it wit blue magic or a natural oil. That’s been most black womenfolk 😏😂 hair regimen from wow as far as I can remember back 70s Afros lol

I am relaxed and I use grease as a sealant too. I stretch my relaxers for 5 months and follow a similar regime that you use. No breakage, in fact I got 6 inches of length my last stretch. Enjoyed your video.

I agree. Hair grease is still used in my family, and I will continue to use it. Our ancestors used it for years, and many were able to grow their hair. Some of my favorite greases are, Blue Magic, NuGro (Black owned/ Louisiana), Palmer's Olive Oil, and Dog Mane (old school). Love your video!

I saw another video about using grease. I had stopped years ago and since seeing that video like lit52 weeks ago, I started back, I've only done it once, I promise my hair is already thriving from that darn blue magic. I got the white container, and the leave in conditioner. I'll never stop again. My dad did my hair when I was a kid and it was down my back. I wish I never stopped but live and learn.

I saw the video you’re talking about. She is intending to warn her viewers that grease can block moisture, leading to dryness and moisture. I disagree. It has been my experience that grease can lead to build up. Build up can lead to tangles that cause breakage. Grease impedes the loss of moisture from the hair; and it makes the hair resistant to accepting added moisture. But, hair sealed with grease will lose moisture eventually and will accept moisture added to it with a bit of effort.

Anyway, I started using hair grease on my 4c extra thirsty hair after watching your videos a few months ago and I really see how much my hair loves it. It went from the puff-won’t-grow stage to starting to fall stage in an instant whether because the grease weighs it down or whatever. In any case, I see way less breakage and my hair feels soft and moisturized instead of dry and brittle. So thank you so much for bringing grease to my attention! 🥰🥰🥰

This is the absolute truth!! I can wear my hair out in a big afro puff (my Chaka Khan lol, my hair is crazy thick and arm pit length) and literally just bush with my tangle teaser and braid it at the end of the night because it is still so moisturized. Never could do that before. I have noticed it stopped breaking this way vs the same process with oil. Adwoa leave in, curl cream blow dry with revair, seal with small amount of oil, small smount of blue magic then braid, for next week I have the bomb fluffy soft braid out. (sometimes two weeks depending on the weather) My hair feels and looks amazing!! It never stayed moisturized worked with oils alone, literally a crunchy tangled mess by the end of the day. Blue magic is my go to sealant. I use the regular blue one. Oh did I mention how soft and shiny it is, girl!!

Ironically; I recently started back using my hair oil. I could not get my scalp to stop itching; washed with African black soap,Pre pooed with aloe Vera; used cow ash! Still horrible itching. Then it dawned on me, I need to use hair oil! All of my life I’ve oiled my scalp, it’s only when I went natural, that I stopped. I would use the oils I would mix, only for it to run off my scalp all day ! Neck and face full of oil😳😳😳😳! As a child; my mother always used Prell shampoo and conditioner! I’m old; I don’t know if the younger generation know about prell. The other shampoo and conditioner was suave!! As for me and my hair, it’s blue magic! And please use a conditioner!💕💕💕💕❤️❤️❤️❤️

Classy response Nezi! WaaaaaaBack in the day my greasy baby hit was Black Fox with Vitamins A D & E. When I decided to go natural I tried to find it, and was sad to see that it was not on the market. But every other day I'd grease my scalp and sit under my bonnet dryer for 30 minutes (yes I timed it!) with my sponge rolled relaxed hair. My hair grew like crazy! No breakage either - only tough spot was handling that new growth carefully as my relaxers were spaced out 8 weeks. Back then all there was were sulfate shampoos. However, I maintained with regular every other week washing, deep conditioning (again under the dryer for 30 minutes) and after my dried wet set, maintained my Black Fox greasings! Grease (and some oils) brings peace to my coils!

Well I use grease to seal my hair after applying all the homemade & organic products (oil blends or hair butters), I’m retaining more length than ever, and the moisture stays in! Not sure what started the backlash against grease but so glad to be using it again. Great video!

Nezi your hair is beautiful keep up the good work I use my hair grease faithfully I saw her video left my comment hey she got nasty with me so hey I told the truth my hair is not dry in two days from using blue magic hair grease no I'm sorry it's not it keeps my hair moisturizered for days a week or more it's all I use I grease my scalp a couple times a week my hair is long the grease penetrates into the hair cuticle providing extra strength to the cuticle and the grease go into the hair follicle providing nurishment to the follicle it helps our hair and scalp and I grease my strands with it and always will I wear my loose , or in a ponytail , and that woman don't know what she's talking about period .

Nezi! You made me laugh girl when you kept holding up the lil comb bahaha. 😆 I use Sulpher 8 which is pretty much a grease in my hair. Sometimes I seal it with oil sometimes I don't just depends but it keeps my scalp moisturized for days on end so homegirl lost me at the moisture is gone in 2 days. I also have to use a wide tooth comb, if it ain't wide tooth then I may as well just use my fingers. Some people just feed off of misinformation (maybe in the future to sell their own products) like the "22 Century Natural Woman" and that other indian lady who was pretending to be black just to sell her products.

How often do you trim. Ms. Nancy. I have really long hair and I didn't ever want to trim. Finally I went to a hair specialist, and I needed a cut. She took my picture before the cut and after. Well I thought while she was cutting that she was scissor happy. But when I saw my hair after she finished. I thank her for a job well done. The before picture showed how damaged it was and I could see thru the ends. Now my hair has grown at the rate it does healthy. And I notice the difference of my length retention. Do you think we should cut our hair more than twice a year? Or do you trim ?

I just watched that video. People just need the views. My hair has grown since going back to grease. We just used grease and water as kids but our hair still wasn't dry and broken off. We picked our afro's all the time without adding water but our fro's got bigger and bigger. I shampoo 2-3 times a week with a non-sulfate shampoo. Once a month I use one with sulfate and protein but follow with a moisturizing shampoo. My hair loves to be washed. Lol its ok to shampoo more than once a week, I've been doing it since relaxed and wasn't using grease then. Let me tell you, when I started, my hair started growing like never before. It was bouncy and moisturized. Now when I shampoo more, it sheds soooo much less. Its ok. LOL

Why are people surprised about this grease? That grease has been around for years. I use it all the time. I grew up doing water and grease. We keep bottles of it in our house. You all are going to cause the grease to go up $5 a bottle to $10 a bottle. We need to stop all this. Just whisper it to another sister and the other sister whisper. Sounds like she doesn’t know how to take care of her hair. I agree with you on every point. When I do my kids hair with grease it’s never dry. Some girls really don’t know how to wash hair, they never have enough product in it. And some don’t know how to comb hair, twist or braid either. I see a lot of girls need a class bad.

Hair grease as a sealant keeps my hair from breaking.

I tried following other "natural" instructions, using oils and all those products that they promote, but after about six months I gave it all up. I've been natural for years before I even knew there was a 'natural hair community' on youtube. I'd always used blue magic because it's what my mom used on my hair. Then I started hearing that it was bad for you and this was bad and that was bad. Tried that other stuff and my hair rebelled. I had so much shedding and breakage; I had to get my hair cut to even it out. And literally, that was in six months. I gave up, went back to blue magic. The only new thing I kept from trying new products was a twisting cream from African Pride because it detangles and feels so good on my hair. Lock that in with my blue magic and I'm good for a whole month.

Ever since I tried to do these 'natural regiment' for my hair, I started to lose my hair from the top and around the edge; not only that the front of my hair started to thin out. I just recently started to use Blue magic grease/oil, and Glover's medicated scalp ointment for my hair. I will grease my hair twice a week, massage the scalp and letting it get some air. I will shampoo/condition my hair every two weeks just so that the grease won't build up a lot. I also decided that I need to start cutting my ends again and put it in protective style this winter. I am hopeful that my hair will grow again and will be longer by springtime.

Listening to you honestly saved my hair I'm back to using grease and I won't stop. Everybody regimen is different but grease has helped me retain length so I'm sticking with the greasy babies ❤

I have looked at her videos and her hair is thick and beautiful so what ever she is doing is working the for her. I have tried every shampoo from top shelf to bottom but let me tell you I would have never thought to use head and shoulders, but when I did IT was GREAT I will not use anything else.

I know for my hair, hair grease is a no (and so is oil) my hair likes cream based products, and my hair and scalp does prefer to be washed every 2-3 days, but everyone does not have the same hair needs, you need a good regimen to fit your hair and your lifestyle. If I tried to do your regimen my hair would break, but if I tried to do her regimen I would be straight bald!!😂

Actually Blue Magic did break my hair off but that's just because one of these has Olive Oil in it and my hair hates it also Coconut oil. I don't know the ingredients of the other Blue Magic Products but i do love grease so i use vaseline instead. 👍👍

I am sixty plus years and was raised using grease.

Does she mean she doesn’t use rinse out conditioner, and or deep condition with a deep conditioner or hair mask? I understand skipping the rinse out conditioner but not deep conditioning. Deep conditioning is VERY important.

I love my hair grease! I started back using Blue Magic and my hair LOVES it. Its thicker and growing great. I mostly condition my way on wash day (Co-Wash) and shampoo once or may be twice a month. I spray water on first, I grease my scalp (Blue Magic and JCO, spray water on my hair (again), and seal with coconut oil and sheabutter.

Who in the world is not using conditioner or deep conditioning? These methods worked just fine when we were little. We washed, conditioned, greased, braided, and left that sucker alone until it needed tending again. Now it usually started breaking when we took control of our own hair care, adding relaxers, flat irons, color, and doing nonsense we low key knew our hair couldn't do. Personally, I am going back to that.

I absolutely agree with u Nezi grease does not break hair off if you wet your hair first and you should do the water , moisturizer , grease then gel challenge . I hear gel makes natural hair grow and it's been working for me , I need a second opinion on that 😁🤔 help me Nezi 💟 (so Everytime u moisturize and seal ,just apply gel from root to tip just like everything else ,last) & tell ole girl the only way to get grease out is to prepoo with conditioner or deep condition for 10-15 mins you'll feel the grease slip right out . You gotta condition duhh
