Can you do a video about the lighting? Did you use direct sunlight only? No diffuser?

Yup! This was direct sunlight with no diffuser, but when I do this technique, I avoid shooting between 12pm - 2pm because the sun is harshest and shadows hover almost directly above the product! I can definitely make a video on lighting - my set up is super mobile so I’m often working with natural light or a speed light on my camera where I bounce the flash off walls; so I can show you how I do that!

Faythe N.N. Looove me some food photography! I just finished recording a video of styling flatlays using kitchen items (eg. Plates, glasses, etc). After I finish editing that, I’ll do a good photography shoot 😃 do you prefer sweet or savoury food? 😊

When doing flat lays with multiple products, where do you focus? I am having an increasingly hard time getting numerous products, and or a set, in focus while keeping the labeling crisp and sharp as well. Although a Canon user, I am curious as to what your go to lens is, etc.

Teyler Nacole I usually use my Tamron 24-70mm, then have a higher aperture to reduce depth of field, and also play around with my focus points. In terms of identifying the place to focus, I usually choose the product and it’s label if it is the hero subject. Hope that helps!

jenny chowdhary This will be a good challenge since silver jewellery is reflective! I currently don’t have a lot of silver jewellery to shoot, but I’ll see what I can find! Re. Colours, if you have any silver jewellery already and want to try shooting it, try to find shades which are “cold”, like blue, green & purple. Since silver is a cool colour, it should match cool colours well! Ok, I shall start the search for silver jewellery and put it on my list of things to style & shoot! 😊

Lalu Akbar Pandu Willian thank you! Yep it was shot under direct sunlight with no diffuser. Sometimes the clouds would come out and it would create a diffuser effect, but all of the edited images which I placed in this video were shot in direct sun 🙂
