Hey Darren, great work you are doing. Really enjoy it, I would like to see though a complete basic run-through of everything which is involved in network LAN hacking, from playing around with other computers, to gaining admin etc. Cheers, keep up the fantastic work!

@shehanster not to belittle the backtrack suite, I love it, but the distro is mostly a collection of *nix tools available on any other platform, packaged together all nice and sweet. The current "story arch" is wpa cracking using tools available in backtrack, while taking the "scenic route". There will be plenty more tools to cover, stay tuned. :)

@TheMicahPerson @EyesOnMeStudios is right. Unless you use a tool to change the firmware or ROM on the NIC it'll go back to default on reboot. You can add a line to one of your configs to change it every time your OS starts as a work-around.

With Time-Warner/Road-Runner, the dynamic IP address does not reset unless the modem has been reset, IE: if you have the modem up for 3 months before either you reset it or if your power goes out from a thunderstorm or something, the external IP address for your network will stay the same for that entire period.

Since a lot of people prefer the short shows over the long ones(I personally like both), why not make another youtube channel to separate the two? Heck, you could even call it MicroHak, MiniHak, Hak4.5, or some other creative name. Just thinking out loud here. Can't wait to see whats next :D

@TheMicahPerson When you restart, if you have changed it using a program, it will change back to its imprinted MAC rather than the one you selected

@05834055 "just trying to find an easy way" and "hacking" aren't best friends. They never went to college together and there's no chance they'll run into each other and spark up an interesting conversation at a cocktail party. That said, be patient. Search hak5 dot org, you'll find some older segments on the matter, and read read read. The aircrack-ng wiki is a good place to start. The idea here isn't to quickly explain what commands to type, rather explain the back story behind every step.

Hey you forgot to bring that interface down (5:26) that gets me all the time. ifconfig wlan0 down macchanger -r wlan0 ifconfig wlan0 up (if you feel like using your freshly spoofed interface)
