Notice how Steinbrenner is only talking about a “championship” not championships.I’ll tell you what, if soto wants to be here and Hal doesn’t sign him. I’m done with this team. I won’t give another penny until ownership changes. 7 billion dollar company can’t afford more in taxes. Pathetic. But he will continue to raise prices.
Yeah but you have to realize if these contracts for players continue to rise the way they are…..if guys are consistently making $50, $60, $70 million a year and that ends up being the standard for star players it’s going to get to the point where even revenue you bring in from ticket sales won’t pay for it and teams are going to start losing money. The Yanks might be able to handle bigger contracts but even they will have a point where too many of these massive contracts can hurt the value of their team
@@austinmartinelli4248 nobody cares that the prices increase if they are going to keep spending money. He clearly thinks Hal doesn’t care about winning. That was his point.
@@inbredhorseswhat don’t u understand? Yankee fans like myself are willing to pay extra for food and tickets if the team is putting out a good product by spending and going all in.
I miss his dad. Hal cares more about the money then the team. So if they lower payroll will ticket prices get lowered, will food prices drop no it won’t he just wants to keep more money for himself. We are the New York Yankees we print out money. We will not win another World Series with Hal. If you don’t want to spend money sell the team
This is nonsense from Hal, for all you have to do is look at the money spent by the Dodgers. The amount of money that the Dodgers and Yankees can easily afford is far higher than people think. Ex: Nike paid One Billion, that's with a 'B', just to have their 'swoosh' appear on Yankee uniforms. Open the books to the public, Hal. 'Ha.Ha', that will be the day !
It was so unnecessary for him to talk publicly about the team's salary ..and right after Soto had told us he was willing to discuss a mid-season extension. Of course the next day Soto said he would listen to offers from anyone..the first time all year he made any such comment, every other has been how much he loves being a Yankee. Brilliant move Hal
The Patriots dynasty happened under the salary cap and now the Chiefs are basically trying to go that path. The salary cap doesn't work in the NFL period.
Michael Kay 15 year contract on Soto, that’s absurd and exaggerated of you. Have you and the Yankees learn from 11 years contract with Giancarlo and Alex Rodriguez. Lengthy contract of 9 years plus should be banned or thing of the past. No player is worth a 15 year contract, anything could happens to the players, injuries and performance decline etc. >An excellent contract since owner wants to be below $300 million team payroll , would be 10 years contract worth $465-$490 million since Soto is 26 years old. With opt out after 2 years from Soto or the Yankees due to declining bench mark performance set by both parties.Yankees need money to get another ace pitcher if Cole 45 doesn’t pitch well from his return in June or he opt out contract after 2024 season. Worse case scenario, if Juan Soto walks, only looking for more money 💰 which isn’t good of him. Then Go with Jasson Domínguez. Why not be with a champions calibre team like the Yankees where Soto is welcome and love by his fans .
Completely wrong on The Soto contract.... he will sign for 12 yrs 580M..... they can deffer money or backload contract... they have 98.5M coming off thats included 10M coming from Marlins... but they also can add the 25M coming from that ugly patch. They can use their Youth but if they keep wasting their talents on the minors to sign DFa guys
Yankee signing Soto, will raise Ticket prices, food, parking, merchandise at the ball park. Soto probably going to walk signs with the Mets or nationals
At this point.. what prospect would you have to attach to move G.. a cog that makes little sense… a Spencer jones ? Considering we’re talking about 10+ years for Soto and what 7 more for judge..
Gleyber gone, nestor gone, rizzo gone, ( Stanton off the books soon).... develop martian, spencer jones, hopefully oswald peraza improves.... or get some discounts during free agency that can do decent job. It will work....very dependent on farm system but thats what the teams are doing.... and then your vets are judge, soto as leaders to rally around. I would also sign verdugo.... have to pitch to soto that he won't win on those other teams and does he want to be a mike trout?
if they don't want to pay soto.....play dominquez in left, jones in ctr.,put judge back in right....pick ip rizzos option....or find another first baseman.....playone of your many options in the minors at second...it's rolling the dice....but hope dominquez and spencer pan out.
Judge was taking ground balls at first base in spring training. He is the future first basemen. The outfield is going to be Jones Domingues and Soto. That’s the plan.
The Yankees are bring in 679 million (league's highest revenue), the team is the most valuable at 7.5 Billion. I heard Hal say all you need is a 200 million payroll to win the W.S. and he is thinking of the share holders. I don't believe in Hal and i don't trust him. I don't go to the games anymore because winning isn't top priority. Hal yes pitching was top priority and this off season he went barging hunting. Lucky for us Stroman throw himself at us. the Yankees allocations roaster for 2025 is $193,500,000 still owing Hicks $8,740,000 total being 202,240,000. if they sign Soto for 15 years at $46 million a year then Gleyber will not be resign. If the Yankees can offer Yamamoto 30 mill a year and keep gleyber. That's 45 million. Why can't they sign Soto and let gleyber go. With the holdover contracts for 2025 with paying Soto $45 million that Yankees payroll will be at $214 million. I think it can be done but Hal is all about the money
Hal is the cheapest owner in baseball with a team that worth more then 3 billion dollars. This not even the infrastructure which is probably worth over 1 billion. He needs to sell the team . Baseball does not need a salary cap, they need a better national tv deal, not Fox or Tbs.
Wrong super wrong do you know lots of stars in Hollywood are all in with the Dodgers get with it Mr Magic even has Ms Billie Jean investing in them so get with the news lol
And in a way I'm kind of ok within because the Dodgers raised the salaries to a billion now I seen my horse the Yankees get rings with less than that payroll so imagine if we had a billion season will get rings rings LOL
I don't want to hear about a billionaire screaming poverty. Sell the team if you losing money which he isn't. He is just crying because he wants more money for a new yacht. Rich people are the worst
Steve Cohen literally said he doesn't keep overpaying to players to win. The Mets are already gonna get their draft position pushed back in 2025 because they're over the luxury tax again and they will probably miss the playoffs once again this year. So they'll basically be paying luxury taxes and affecting their draft position and have no playoff appearance or World Series to show for.
the salaries in baseball are getting so enormous its insane and so offputting.. soto is a good player but he isn't miguel cabrera winning triple crowns or alex rodriguez.. i mean when the hell are these salaries going to be reasonable??? these teams give out ridiculous contracts, then have their ticket prices impacted because of the payroll.. its insane at this point and as a fan I have zero interest in going to the games if this continues
@gthot. It is not who is better. Just like real estate market. It's based on comparable. But unlike real estate the market is created not by others worth but what the owners will pay. See Snell and Montgomery. If the owners want to pay Soto around 50 million then that is what he will get. Not based on talent at all. Besides Otanti is a difficult comparable caues he pitches but does not add defensive WAR. So I can not blame Hal at all. Afterall he continues to pay other teams the luxury tax only to watch them put the money in their pockets rather than improve their respective teams.
@@bruce5402thank you 👍 I think in all my years of watching sports this is one of the first comments I’ve read about contracts especially on social media correct. They don’t even present the facts on podcast or most sports talk shows. Fans can cry all they want, but a 300+ million payroll is not even close to a sustainable business model that’s business 101 but I can imagine that most who will comment that has no understanding of the P&L of a business operations.
Jasson Dominguez and Spencer jones> Soto…. Soto is leaving the Yankees guarantee. Enjoy this season with Soto. He’s definitely signing with the Mets or dodgers.
Who would wanna be in NYC but sign to the Mets ? The loser team of nyc lmfao he aint winning no championship with the Mets ya sound dumb af and how can the dodgers afford him AND. Ohtani??😊
