hi there just dropped in , watching other channels , i also make crates pallets boxes what ever there called , i have been making the boxes for close to 30 years , been telling people but most think i am crazy , i stack my boxes right from the splitter . little longer at the splitter but done , i started several years ago using presure treated for the base , found the free pallets started to rot and drop nails , now i need to go watch you split , i use a table next to my splitter . good show john
Thanks for stopping by and subscribing . Trust me your not crazy its just so much easier than handling the wood over and over . My wife stacks most of the wood so in the winter i bring the trailer inside ware its warm and let her stack inside but in the summer she will stack outside right out of the trailer just so she dont have to bend down to pick it up from the ground . We almost went with a lane mill but i just didnt have the room to set it up and ended up with a woodmizer
@@AllenFamilyFirewood we had a frills pop up camper, and camped with my uncle’s family. Moosehead Lake, Bar Harbor, Rangely, … One Summer my sister got the chickenpox and shared it with us when we’re up there. Lots of calamine lotion and not much swimming 😂
Thanks its really nice when it comes time to deliver the wood because we just pick up the pallet and attach a rachet strap to the pallet an the forks then dump it into the trailer . No more throwing wood into the trailer . Thanks for stopping by
New Subscriber coming to you from East Tennessee! I really like your pallet method. IBC Totes have became too expensive. I like your process and the ability to customize them for whatever amount you wish to stack. Plus unloading will be even easier! Take Care, Brandon
Thanks for subscribing . sorry i missed ya comment the other day . I ben making an using pallets like this for a few yrs . Being able to dump them is ware they really shine just put a strap from the pallet back to the forks on the tractor an dump into the trailer . Thanks again for stopping by an subscribing . Hope to see ya back
New sub. Video shared! Awesome job guys! What a great idea for wood storage. How many years to get out of your pallets? I noticed you store them off the ground too so thats gotta help with the longevity. Take care!
they're made out of pine so not very long unless you treat them. We will use used motor oil or a wood preservative to protect them, but right now we're filling them as fast as we can make them. Thanks for the sub! Appreciate it!
That is a fantastic idea what you have created for your firewood. Simple, reusable and potentially free from your mill. Other than them brackets being the spend thats great. I may have to copy a little bit as ive loads of pallets i want to get firewood in to also. Great work guys, your an awesome team 👏
love the pallet idea. Bending over to stack the wood on the bottom of the pallets would suck though....if you created some type of pedestal for your pallets to have it sit higher up off the floor but not too high it would save you a lot of bending over! If you have a source for your stake pocket brackets, I'd love to hear back from you on that! Thanks!
Ive seen a rig that spins the pallet plus lifts it up an down for 20 grand but we have ben thinking a small used indoor fork lift would probably do the trick but we are going to wait an see what the sales add up to this yr first .
@Allen Family Firewood I kept thinking about my suggestion after making it....came up with the most simple and obvious solution....just have 2 or 3 pallets under the one you are loading! Anyway.... I love that new dump trailer you got! Hoping to get the same but 16' one later this yr
I really enjoyed your video on stacking wood on pallets. I'm just getting into the firewood business and hope to have my splitter by the end of May. I would like to know where you purchased the brackets you used on this video.
Noy only would your system work with bundle wood but also with regular split wood for fireplaces and outside wood use. Could esily pick up a full pallet and c dump it in a trailer for delivery. I like it !
Thanks i ben using pallets like this for 10 yrs with hard wood firewood we just started doing the pine camp wood thing . The pallets are a game changer just stack it an once dry we use a ratchet strap to hold the pallet to the forks on the tractor an dump it into the dump truck or dump trailer for delivery no more handling the wood multiple times
We had a local metal fabrication company make them for us, i believe they are 10 guage steel. Cost was $3 per bracket. Thank you for subscribing! Karens are the toughest stackers around!
Thanks for the video From somebody who has lived his entire life in the city i have no idea but how long can wrapped stack of firewood last usually. This seems incredible
Great with the pallet thing, using a rope. Im confused why you start stacking right after you said not to stack. I get you do not stack where you go to bur why not put side board on two pallets and shuffle or make the vehicle do the work for you where you push a button and the wood end up in the pallets that has side boards. Not all vehicles can do that though, if that is the case you can use some stick and push/pull to get them down onto the pallets. But i only see part of your production so it might be wrong in the long run. Thx for creative ideas! 😊👍
Looks very nice nice and neat but the problem is the money are tying up in lumber time and material it’s so much easier to take and just stacking wood outside on a pallet and let mother nature take its course then just use your bucket throw it in the truck and go deliver it you’ll have more profit in your pocket I’ve been doing this for a long time and figured thousands of ways of doing it the quickest way is I take a regular pallet I just cut it right down the middle he was one section of it one single row 10 cords long 4 feet high and it dries within a matter of a couple of months the wind can blow through that single row and dry it like an oven before you know it and never wrapped your wood during the summer months let it let the rain hit the wood and let it soakSoak into the wood the rain gets in the wood gets wet and then the sun comes out and draws it out and that’s actually like a vacuum and that will start cracking and drying the wood faster
it is alot of work to make the pallets and if you went and bought all the lumber it would get expensive fast but i have a saw mill and get the logs for free you could use just regular pallets instead and only have to buy the stake pockets . but once they're done and stacked i never touch the wood again i can load a cord in less than 10 min by myself yet it takes me just over an hr to throw on a cord i agree no plastic over the wood in the summer let the sun do its thing but in the winter and spring months it helps to keep the rain snow an ice off and speeds the drying process up . what works for me might not work for every one
How much do you pay your help? Daddy says to go to the marinas to get the old plastic from the winter covers. You save them the cost of throwing them in the trash and you get really nice plastic…free. 😊
Why not load the pallet right at the splitter? You could eliminate the work of loading into the trailer and then move the trailer into the garage and unloading. We do similar pallet stacking but simply nail the upright boards to the side of the pallet and connect the top with another nailed board. No ropes or metal brackets needed. We used to stack 1/2 cord crates but found the centre pieces did not dry near as well so we switched to 1/4 cord crates.
In the warmer months we do stack onto the pallets outside We used to use nails then tryed screws on the side boards but after a few uses some times a nail or a screw would fall out and i always seemed find them in a tractor or truck tire so we use bolts now to hold the stake pockets on . I like the stake pockets because when the pallet is not being used we just pull out the sides an stack up the pallets so they dont take up half the wood yard
we order them from McCann Fabrication in New Gloucester, Maine. You can look them up. we also have a video about the stake pockets in the playlist on our channel about our custom pallets Thanks for watching Heath!
Sorry i missed ya comment . I dont have a jig i just pre cut enough parts an start building . Dont forget to enter in todays sundays video for the 572 xp chain saw
Yes! Look around your area for a metal fabrication shop. They can make what you need. feel free to message me with any questions. Thanks for checking us out!
I was wondering if 1) I could buy a sample bracket from you to use as a sample, 2) send me a close up picture or 3) would you be willing to let me know the contact info for the shop who made the brackets for you?
The shop that made them for us is McCann Fabrication in New Gloucester, 207-926-4118 ext 227, Jon Ray. website: www.mccannfabrication.com Keep in mind we are using rough cut lumber and it's a full 2 inch by 4 inch and if you're using store bought lumber the dimensions will change. We will make a #short video on the bracket itself...stay tuned
