www.redlettermedia.com - After landing a new client, Mike and Jay waste time talking about a movie nobody cares about, a movie nobody saw, and a movie nobody likes.
Steve look, I love Star Trek, but community also had 3 amazing seasons, and then some shitty ones, but it’s still a net positive good show, just like Star Trek... which I almost want to give zero points simply for the existence of Wesley
19:00 "I'm going to tell you a story. At first, it's going to sound ridiculous. But the longer I talk, the more rational it's going to appear." Sorry, Tom. Not joining Scientology!
what do you mean joining scientology? that is not a bs cult of some religion, science is based of facts, is like telling "sorry Tom, but i'm a silly person."
@@lookoutforchrisStop trying to scare the kids, man. You and I both know there's no such thing as Tom Cruise. He's just an old story Scientologists tell to try to validate them.
TacticusPrime it's so weirdos don't go up to the addresses they say in the films and trick them to letting them fix their VCRs. it's a Hollywood conspearassy to get rid of VCRs.
The movie was good ya prick. Wish I could think of a few other productive and enlightening arguments but I happen to be very dumb. But don't let that detract from my opinion on the edge of tomorrow's. The movie features several good things that I like.
Miguel S 95% of the mass of the universe is simply of 'unknown' composition. We label it "Dark Matter" & "Dark Energy". Rich Evans is in fact that 95%.
Edge of Tomorrow surprised me big time. Went into it thinking "Man, this will be another shitty Tom Cruise movie where Tom Cruise plays Tom Cruise". NOPE! That shit was awesome!
considering I have just started watching RLM, cant say I'm much of a "fanboy", though I am certainly do enjoy their content. Also, whats wrong with agreeing? Those were the exact thoughts I had going into this film
Imo it was alright. It had some funny moments and it was fun to watch, but not really anything more. I thought it'd have been a neat idea for a video game though.
Seriously I just discovered your channel and videos recently. I remembered you guys from the Honest Trailer for The Dark Knight. Your comedic technique is nothing short of brilliant. Seriously, I haven't laughed this hard in a long time. You guys are funnier than most comedians to be completely honest.
About tom cruise looking like action man. I think the thing is the movie wanted to show that at first on the outside tom cruise's character was a fraud someone who looked like a hero but was really a coward underneath so I think he worked well in the part
As far as the Edge of Tomorrow love story dealy, I think it made a lot of sense cuz like...Tom Cruise basically spends years of his life talking to and being able to confide in this one person. It's a bond between the two of them that no one else'll ever understand. So like...they're in love and stuff.
Odd, if I see "based on true events" that just tells me it's a desperate marketing ploy, because no supernatural film is actually based on true events.
Glad to see love for Edge of Tomorrow. I agree with Mike, one of the best movies I've seen in a while. It's a fun summer action movie that doesn't treat me like a moron.
I loved Edge of Tomorrow. Great story. Such a shame that such a good movie (probably the only good movie of the year) did so badly and lost out to....... transformers.
Edge of Tomorrow was heavily based on a manga, All You Need Is Kill, and I highly suggest reading it. It expands upon all the elements that Edge of Tomorrow presented, and almost the entire second half is different. It's very good.
Thank u guys for walking into my life. These videos make me laugh for hours. And by far I'd say you guys are the best critics out there. Thank u for making these :)
Notice the subtle filmmaking techniques. Jay couldn’t be in the first scene because he was too busy at the Manhole so they shot around him, writing in that he was in the bathroom.
This is my favorite episode of Half in the Bag. That opening sequence is my favorite skit they've done; every joke hits. And you can't beat that ending.
I had that exact toy robot from the opening of the video...my grandma bought it for me at a Best Buy when I was a kid...it made me genuinely sad when Mike ripped its head off like the Michael Bay version of Optimus Prime would a surrendered and defenseless prisoner of war.
If you watch Transformers for the plot you also watch porn for the plot? lol Transformers have stories that can barely compete with grade school writing.
Darkernorakeln Well, in Deepthroat, the girl had a medical problem and they tried to solve it with a doctor. They also tried to solve what would taste better with Coca Cola and that 4 inches is that seperas our hero from happiness...
I actually found it to be an improvement over the previous three films. It wasn't great but I enjoyed it which is more than I can say for the other three
transformers 4 has a 15 min scene of discussing Texas statutory rape laws, as the daughters boyfriend is way older then her and keeps informing her father why he's technically allowed to fuck his daughter despite it. the less they say about it the better.
When they were asking if anyone ever just put "based on a true story" in front of a movie that was completely made up, I'm surprised they didn't mention Fargo. The Fargo TV show does the same thing, leading each episode with a "based on real events" note even though the story is completely bonkers.
I think the main strength of Edge of Tomorrow was its blend hard science, high concept and regular action. The Jackets are given realistic strengths and limitations, the time travel is explored in sufficient depth, and of course the action sequences are well made. It roughly connects to Asimov's three kinds of science fiction, and it goes to show that science fiction films can do with more variety.
I saw Deliver Us From Evil in theater, and had the best experience with it. The movie itself was mediocre, but during a scene where the priest touches his crucifix to the head of the possessed man lightning struck the theater at exact moment the crucifix made contact. The whole theater sits around wondering if it was part of the movie, two or three minutes passed before I was certain that wouldn't be included in the final cut.
Even after the colostomy bag, even after the triple simul-screening, this is hands down the most deserving review of a Transformers movie in the history of the rise of the shadow of the age of existence.
I had that robot toy Mike murdered when I was a kid. I totally forgot about it but as soon as I heard the noise it makes it all came back. So I've come to the conclusion that RedLetterMedia exists solely to make me remember childhood toys, thanks guy!
Very entertaining as always...it's a bit weird though to say "how does Doug Liman even know how to block an action scene" when he's been doing almost nothing but action movies ever since he did the first Bourne movie back in 2002. Some of them sucked pretty badly, like Jumper, but he hasn't really done a comedy since Go (which is still probably my favourite movie he's done)
That toy at the start made me feel a lot of nostalgia for a toy from my childhood I can't remember but made the same sounds as that one, watching Mike destroy it before I could get a good look at it felt not great
i know this video is several years old, but I'm hoping SOMEONE sees this. The Edge of Tomorrow is actually a film adaptation of a fantastic manga titled All You Need Is Kill. Thankfully the comic doesn't star Tom Cruise and makes the story a bit easier to digest. I guess without sounding too cliche read the mango? Movie is fantastic, comic is fantastic, both deserve plenty of attention and praise.
That old lady getting her VCR fixed has an awful lot of books about After Effects. Do you think she produces a lot of videos on her circa 1980 VCR? (She seems to have an interest in World War 2, too.)
31:18 Duuuudes, I _swear_ I just watched this on Netflix, a Ryan Reynolds movie, and like... _everything_ you described was a main villain's plot point. Wow. Edit; Found it, "The Adam Project"
"Edge of Tomorrow" was great. The marketing did a GODDAWFUL job at trying to sell this movie. Seriously the trailers did not show ANY of the humor and personality that made the movie so good. Definitely one of the best blockbusters of the year.
Edge of Tomorrow... It stayed in the theater for several months in Silicon Valley. I when to see it twice, which is rare for me the last couple of decades. Budget $178 million Box office $369.2 million
