I forgot that the Bathory segment was put together as if they had shot some B-roll footage (the bathtub), but then Nathan Explosion here decided to just put the full thing into it as if it was an actual scene. Such a bizarre fucking film.

Omg I actually worked on this for one day. It was definitely a memorable experience. The scene in the strip club which is The Body Shop in LA. I had to make the Mystery Girl cape and make sure her thong chains stayed in place which Danzig paid very close attention to.

He was interesting. Not bad or rude just odd. He definitely knew what he wanted to shoot but wasn’t the best at communicating what he needed. That day at the strip club they neglected to book background actors for the scene so they just asked some PAs to do it, and they were thrilled to just sit there and watch.

The second segment seems to be an homage to an old French classic called Les Yeux sans visage (eyes without a face) which was already referenced in the first segment, apparently, as the title of the movie on the marquee in that one was Les Nue sans visage, in which they cleverly replaced "Eyes" with "Nudes" but then forgot to add an "s" for the plural. So in addition to being less than perfect technically, this film also seems to get its easter eggs wrong, and manages typos in foreign languages. Incidently cafés don't do refills in France.

I mean...conservative outlets were definitely pushing optimism (as was Trump) and suggesting things were going to be fine "once warm weather kicked in" or something. They were on the last legs of "it's just another overblown Swine Flu" argument. Left-leaning media were more doomsday-ish, but still more in line with scientific sources who were definitely NOT, as a whole, suggesting things were at a peak and on the mend. Also sorry I'm really not trying to sound like...confrontational, I was just regularly talking with people about this in April, and that was the narrative at the time. The funny thing about the police detective is that he is played by Sean Kanan who is a soap opera veteran from Bold and The Beautiful, Y&R, and General Hospital. He CAN act well and has been nominated for a golden globe. He was obviously just having fun rolling with it.

That would actually be the french name for the famous 1930s french horror film "Eyes Without A Face" which Danzig heavily ripped off for the stripper story. In the EWAF a surgeon keeps surgically removing women's faces to replace his daughters disfigured face. He has to keep killing to replace her faces that keep rotting. The surgery from the film are sickening! Some of the most grotesque imagery from the 30s

A close friend of my family, Scott M. Toland, is a set electrician that lives in L.A. I discovered recently while browsing the IMDb page for Samurai Cop that he did the set lighting for that movie! I told him about it and he was amazed that so many people know about this little movie he worked on. It's really wild to have that kind of a connection to a movie like this edit: spelling error

I saw this at a premiere in Chicago at, I think the music box theater? Danzig was there, talked to him for a few minutes. I didn’t LIKE the movies because they were good. I liked them because they were very Danzig. “You guys were laughing at times you shouldn’t have been laughing” was something he said during the Q&A.
