*Music plays* _"Hello. The Automatic Diagnostic and Announcement System welcomes you to the Black Mesa Night Train. Remember: have a secure and safe sleep."_
Just imagine this: You are a rebel, managed to flee city 17 with a car, you are alone tho, the road you are on seems to head to white forest but you didn't get there yet, but you managed to witness the termination of the portal storm, the road you are on had a good view of city 17. You get out of your car, which was an old golf that was somehow working. You look at the destroyed citadel. It was finally gone. The combine was no more. Your human side finally could breath peacefully, while staring at the view of hope and glory. this would make for a great mod dont you think?
It has potential, make it a short exploratory journey that is accented by this song, an alternate universe where the citadel's destruction actually ended the combine, or even base it after the rocket launch in Episode 2, having the main character be left behind and coming into his own through fighting in the abandoned streets of City 17 against the Xen remnants and combine stragglers.
Good morning and welcome to the black Mesa transit system, this automated train is provided for the security and convenience of the black Mesa research facility personnel
i live in around where city 17 would be in the real world and honestly, some of the scenery in the game looks horrifyingly close to where i live the entire game is just pure gold what can i say? for such a game with it's amazing soundtrack outdoing itself in 2004
I love how extremly eerie and dark and sad it is when its played so slow. It´s a completely different track. I always loved this track, walking in a forest all alone when picking mushrooms, when it was raining, noone around for miles...it´s perfect for that. And this track both made one of my favorite tracks longer and even more eerie! The picture goes along perfectly too!..Fantastic work! Thank you so much for this piece of another world wonder.
Honestly, a mod for hl2 in which you detonate a nuclear weapon and start a nuclear attack on the combine would be neat. “Dear god… what happened to city 17?” “A nuclear explosion. It’s swallowing the city, vaporizing the citadel, and turning our planet, despite it’s devastation, into a fracture of its former self. Though the shockwaves May emanate throughout the night, and the landscape surrounding city 17, a new dawn has begun.”
I enjoy this tune very much thank you. Nothing gets me in the mood like this thing as I drive to work in the Summerset factory on a cold and grey morning.
this game feels alive filled with things that just can't be explained the fact that Freeman don't have a voice actor is making him much more mysterious, what he's thinking about? I mean he's a badass saviour and all but being a prisoner of G-man "interests" from the start, did he ever had a choice? I think the vortigaunts see the resemblance between Freeman and themselves because of this mystery, they even say it "We serve the same mystery" or "Something secret steers us both. We shall not name it." It must do something with the flow of time, actions, events, words etc. They would not like to name it because sometimes the things we can't explain holds secrets that we can't really understand and even though if we try it will only be in vain and leaves a bigger hole in ourselves than the void itself. Half Life is my favorite game because ever since I know it I'm always thinking about these things. I can't get enough it because it's so thought-provoking
Maybe that's a reason why they gave this name to a game. See, without your voice and ability to express your thoughts, espec in a situation where everything has gone to the hell in a research facility very deep beneath the ground and where you're so confused and fighting to find a way out and survive somehow - if you imagine yourself in a position of Freeman, you would be literally half-alive and half-dead. Guess that they just replace a perspective of that Freeman's experience in a way that you as a player who's controling a character can experience the same because your character don't have a voice, don't speak and you can't even imagine what your character could possibly think about all that shit which is happening around him. So, if you put yourself in a position of Freeman, you're literally a half-dead. Greetings from Bosnia. 😊✌️
“The nuclear plant… it… exploded.l “Yes, I know… someday there will be a somber looking back at nuclear power, as the world is corrupted by fossil fuels, some will try their best to stop it’s end, but we all know, there will be an end to this. An end to the radiation, an end to nuclear power. this will be the end of it for a while. And yet, we prevail.”
Sometimes I listen this and I start to imagine.. waking up in a blank-gray color room, you don’t know where are you, you don’t know how to talk, you can’t speak any language, no thoughts.. you start exploring the room, is completely empty, just a bed..
Gordon was too late. Alyx is dead. Kleiner is dead. Eli has been gone for a long time. Barney, a mere stalker performing routine tasks in the Citadel. Mossman was sent off-world for her actions. The Resistance is crumbling. The odd man in the suit is absent. The Combine have won. Subject: Freeman Status: Failed
Gordon was too late. Alyx was forcefully made into a stalker she had to be held by machines. Kleiner a mere stalker along with Alyx performing tasks in the citadel. Eli was killed and been gone for a long time rumors say he was put into stasis by the G-Man Barney managed to escape but was shot and killed Mossman was also forcefully made into a stalker the Resistance collapsed The odd Woman and man in the suits are absent The Combine have won Subject: 19 Year old Alyx Vance. Status: failed along with Freeman.
Very peaceful and calming after a long stressful day at school, and I actually kind of like those small imperfections at 2:29 . Just adds to the atmosphere.
And I am here getting ready for a long day of school at 6 : 26 26,09,2023 Gosh the fact that your comment was 5 years ago really makes me feel like I am sending a message to the past or to the future since you might aswell read this a few months or maybe even years later... So long and... Thanks.
Something to read while listening: **Alyx spoilers below** You are Gordon Freeman. 10 hours ago you were woken from unconsciousness by Eli. The only memory you have of him was his shouting, his desperate unending plea to get his daughter back as you fumbled to find your glasses on the cold concrete floor. *He* stole her, and you and Eli both know very well who *He* is. But to face a threat more unknown to you than that of distant black holes is nigh impossible. Yet, there is a force pulling you, a physical one that you feel. It pulls you towards the horizon, a small clearing in the forest that undoubtedly was placed there just for you. A soundscape of echoing ambiance arises in the distance accompanying the pulling. You squint, face stoic and limbs straightened. Maybe there is a way to face Him, to find Alyx. The wind flutters once, and you turn to go and find Eli.
This is a redundancy issue on the concept. Talking about City 17, with no experiences to loss of anything. I think this is more like *Hoth* if you ask me. Colder, no recognitions to any eye-limiting feature, dead battery packs on the ground, wind combed footprints brushing off anew. Be lucky to find a scarf tied to a pole where the weather beats down.
This would play after the 7 Hour War. Silence in the air surrounded by the fallen soildiers that fought along side each other. H.E.C.U, U.S.A Navy, Corps, and air Force. Bulgarian soildiers, policeman. All dead. With the innocent people walking slowly out the buildings. They walk towards they're victorious enemy. With it topping off with the citadel decending slowly from the sky, out of a portal. All the citizen's can do is fall to they're knees and surrender Along with wounded soildiers. As they are defenseless. Their was no point no hope. The world had already surrendered. But their was certainly no Freeman to stop all of this. *Not yet.*
@@LaFlaneuse0 The theory before HL:A was that the whole Citadel was indeed dropped from a portal, as there is a massive sinkhole surrounding the whole structure. Also, Breen saying something along the lines of "The Citadel was gifted to us by Our Benefactors" also strengthened this theory.
@@htresty6442 Ah I see. I had always thought it was indeed built on Earth with Earthly materials. I also thought so because of how the original HL2 beta Citadel looked, very rusty and as if metal plates were fused together.
@@htresty6442 The theory could still be correct. In HL:A, on Alyx's whiteboard, we see at the start of the timeline that the initial structural spire just suddenly appeared. Construction to expand and add to this spire happened later.
You are Gordon Freeman SPOILERS FOR ALYX BELOW You wake up. Eli Vance is dead, his daughter Alyx is crying over his body You *failed* her The realization hits you You failed the resistance The combine has just stuck a hard blow You stand up, but you fall again. “Time, Dr. Freeman. Is it really that time again?” POST HALF-LIFE: ALYX EDIT: Your head begins to hurt and you fall over yet again For a moment, you blank out Then you hear him "Gordon, Gordon! Wake up Gordon" You reach around for your Glasses, picking them up Looking through them, you see the face of Eli and the dead advisor that killed him previously After he frantically tells you that the man in the suit took Alyx, you see the figure of D.O.G In D.O.G's hand lies the crowbar Eli takes it and holds it out to you "C'mon Gordon, we've got work to do..."
After the blast, there is silence. Scary, sad, but sweet silence. And after the silence, there is another, stronger blast. And over, and over, and over again. We are feeling pleasure when playing the Half-Life series, but some time after, we begin to understand how everything would be fucked up. We have fantasies about "What if Half-Life was real?" Interesting question. But, would you even survive the Resonanse Cascade? The 7-hour war? Or, maybe even the Combine reign? Some would join the Combine as a CP, maybe an Overwatch soldier, or... Maybe as Stalker. Beta is dark, but the Release is not so much brighter.
in the beta version we have gone from seeing the energy of hl2 like seeing a happy scene full of action and movement to a desolate and sad world in the grip of an alien threat, in beta you can feel a lot more the environment of slavery and the danger where the world is.
Black mesa IS still there. 1 nuke couldn't destroy the whole thing, its full of blast doors, elevators, and even areas still sealed up. I honestly wish there was a mod or a game that returned you to black mesa even if just for a minute.
Mr Secret It probably is still there. Just one nuclear bomb couldn’t destroy a government facility that large. There probably is some noticeable damage in some areas, but it’s intact for the most part.
вставлю свои 5 копеек, можно? лично как по мне, то этот трек неплохо звучал бы на локе "свалка". там такой же мягкий, и в то же самое время печальный эмбиент.
My own gman script (cut to a portal opening) (Gman walks out) "Well.. it is that day... Doctor freeman.. The time of your life.. begins.." (Cut to gman watching you in test chamber 20 years ago) "im sorry.. but mistakes happen.. doctor.." (Cut to alex crying) "Doctor freeman.. it is this day of luck.. you are awoken.. I say doctor.. Don't expect.. Unforeseen consequences.." (as he grins, you teleport to black mesa, then back to alex and eli)
