the headstone looks great but I think i would use a 20" flat screen mounted to the back for images that way no need for the projector easier to set up and better picture

Highlight the text with dry brushing luminous paint as it cant be seen when the projector effects are on!
@someguy2741
@someguy2741 3 года назад
Dropping a flickering UV led in front of it someplace would be even fantasticker. I bought some luminous filament in a translucent red... it looks somewhat less red than regular trans red but when I move a UV light past it it screams orange. He needs to pair this thing with a Palette 2... but that will need a 1.75mm filament conversion.

This is one of the best props for Halloween/haunted house I've ever seen. I might have grabbed an old LCD monitor for this (assuming I could rig it so it wouldn't stress the rest of the frame), so I could put a weak spotlight on the tombstone so it's a wee bit more visible, but the effects would really pop when they're triggered. OR, I would find a way to "leak" the projected light so that it would illuminate the tombstone as well.

It's a nice project and the end product looks cool! But, honestly, I wouldn't waste that much filament on a basic box shape; I'd just make that out of wood. :} Maybe just printing the lettering. (Or carving it with a CNC; didn't you have one of those?) Also, I think I'd paint it with a brush. Spray paint is too expensive for that sort of thing. ;) Anyway, keep building stuff, Joel! :-)

This is a good case for using the correct materials and processes for the correct parts. The center section is a good candidate for 3D printing, due to all of the text and detail. The frame and base are very simple and would be better to produce out of something like wood. I would also wager that it would be a lot faster that way, too. But yeah-yeah-yeah, this is a 3D printing channel. I am here to advocate for logic over "3D print all the things".

I love atmosFX. I have quite a few of them. One of my favorites is the original Jack-o'-lantern Jamboree. They have just released new effects. I was going to buy some more but since I am not doing Halloween this year do to Covid19 I have held off on doing so. I may still buy the new Stain Glass effects though. They are just really cool looking and I may just run those on Halloween for my own enjoyment. Still no decorating otherwise nor handing out candy. I am a bit sad about it as it is my most favorite Holiday.
@anthonyrich1592

I have to ask: what print speed are you using on the 300 Series? Cura tells me that at 60mm/s it's going to take 11 days to print mega-size-3dpn-version-frame.stl!

Got an old LCD monitor, or even an old laptop you can repurpose? That's what I'd use. I'd go for foam, MDF, or even cardboard as the main material though but I guess that's more of a real maker project at that point and these videos are about trying to come up with things you can print on a huge printer.
