@@bigbadchupa9511 I was once trying to get skulls in h2 and this is so true. I had like the scarab gun enabled but it was still so annoying. They just kept coming. I forgot which mission
Cortana: "the first carrier completely ignored us sir! Blew through malta's debris field and headed straight for Earth!" Elite trio: "the demon completely ignored us sir! Blew through our turret's position and headed straight for the lift!"
Glad to see you doing these runs again, cat. Now this might be a stupid question, but what button layout do you use? Edit: also, how come sometimes you’re using a controller, and other times you’re using MnK?
I play controller for levels that have swordflies because it's just easier, then I play MnK for driving levels, my controller layout is bumper jumper btw
What's that beginning delta halo strat where you get the checkpoint before you climb over the hill? Does it save time from having to walk all the way to the corner of the cliff?
^ You *have* to/need to load in each section chronologically or else you break the level and can't progress any further (i.e., enemies won't spawn and you'll have an empty level that can't be completed). That checkpoint on the hill loads in the jackal section - going over the mountain leads you right to the part after that - so in-case you didn't get a Sword (certain Ultra Elite spawns are RNG) to Swordfly off the jackal section (which is already a risky strat during a full-game speedrun), there's a safer strat to keep things moving along.
Gravemind prison-skip and High Charity are the big ones but i guess you could Butterfly thru all of Uprising and the start of Regret + Cairo's tram-skip uses the same melee lunge mechanic. Skipping through levels saves time but Butterflying doesn't showcase everything Halo 2 has to offer and I think that's the point. i.e. Butterflying could be considered "lame", and makes runs almost absolutely boring to watch. Halo Infinite Any% killed itself in the same way all for the sake of "optimizing" its runs.
Cryphon did an AGDQ run a few years back and it was pretty sick tbh. Dunno how the staff would take an MCC H2A run, given how H2A isn't standalone and you can play it on 3 different platforms (XboxOne, X|S, PC), they might be lame and not allow it.
Butterflying allows you to skip huge sections of levels (Gravemind Prison Skip + skip all of Uprising and High Charity via Butterflying). Here's Cryphon's tutorial vid on the High Charity one ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Vw1rp9kXebs.html
You can but it’s much easier to do on lower fps and mcc on Xbox runs at 60 I’m pretty sure making it twice as precise as you had to be on the og Xbox but I could be wrong so if I am someone correct me
You can 110% swordfly on xbox and do most of the same things as you would on PC. The only 'trick' that's pretty difficult/maybe impossible on xbox is consistently ghosting through the glass on Arbiter to reach the banshee section faster. You can even do the elevator skip at the beginning of the level on xbox
butterflying isn’t sword flying, butterflying is where you get below an enemy and spam the melee button to slowly fly an infinite distance. it’s usually used in halo 2 to skip part of gravemind (fly up a lift) and all of high charity (fly from the start of the level to the trigger for the end of the level)
