Okay to condense alot of lore, the odst essentially were the premiere soldiers before the spartans and had a firce rivalry with them and they usually suffered pretty heavy casualties due to the fact they always were dropped over the enemy
The rivalry came about because 117 immediately after augmentation, when he was getting used to it, had gotten into a fight with some ODST guys. Iirc, John punched one of them in the chest so hard, he stopped his heart. John had also wounded the others (I think it was 3 or 4), to the exact extent I forgot, but he really did fuck them up. The commander had a 'fuck you' boner for Spartans ever since. One of the comic series and/or book series, had a ODST commander do a training exercise against John and *actively* tried to kill him. Another live fire 'training' was with all of Blue Team.
Not were ARE Spartans werento small in number to be properly effective not to mention its very much stated the standard ground forces did most of the leg work holding the Covenant forces cheif may have killed the leader but they can be replaced.
If we're getting into the Halo live action trailers now there are two for Halo 3, one is called Halo Landfall and the other is the Believe ad campaign, and the one for Halo Reach when you finally get to that game is Deliver Hope
@@mrrager3475 Yeah, because the biggest militarized planet and I think main training area for ODST's was Reach which is Hungarian. The weirdest facet of Halo lore that's never really addressed. Humanitý's closest, biggest and I believe first colony predominantly speaks Hungarian (or at least a big portion and original settlers did). Not Chinese, or Hindi, or English or French - a language isolate of a second or third tier economy that was in the middle of an area in wars in the century before. It's a really cool piece of lore and a way to introduce a lot of unique cultural touchstones of self sufficiency and psuedo affiliation with the rebellion - I just wished they addressed it somehow cause in a vacuum it says more about a cultural shift that must have occurred on Earth than any other piece of lore. I guess besides space elevator cities and the natural progression of African cities into being some of the most modern, complex and integrated because naturally they build these new ones later.
Idk where either of you got your info, there's nothing about that on the halo wiki and no resources I can find anywhere about the failure rate. In fact, the halo wiki states that the pods have reduntant features in case of a primary failure, and that the casualty rates are lower than in traditional drop ship deployment. I can only assume it's one of those pieces of "lore" that someone made up on a forum years ago that's circulated around
@@MyLordRock Only the 82nd? I mean sure they're awesome the town I live in has a monument dedicated to a metal of honor recipient who was from them but, are we sure it was only the 82nd?
@@Baldwin-iv445 That is true sorry got something wrong its not Delta its The Orbital Drop Shock Troopers have been referred to by Bungie as a futuristic successor to the American Marine Force Recon and the British SAS.
For those wondering the guy being buried died in the same war the boy signed up for in the next scene, then the boy nearly died as a private in the scene after in battle and was a unit leader holding a funeral with same flag in the last scene and i believe the ages were from child to in his 30s to give you idea of how long the war was.
4:40 I feel like that's _supposed_ to be a Jiralhanae, but it _looks_ more like Flashgitz tryna take his Astartes series live action and going for bears, instead... for some fething reason...
