That's because they're neither Star Trek or Halo. Paramount used the names for brand recognition, but hired people who cared nothing for the property, didn't even do the most basic research and shown nothing but contempt for the fanbases of said properties. Of course they weren't going to save them. The people in charge of Paramount are criminally incompetent and they get what they deserve.

But they simply can't resist putting I their "personal" touches to better reflect themselves and their vision. They also think that fans will just consume any old product that they put out when the very opposite is true. You BETTER come correct with the fans, because they ARE passionate and they WILL point out the stupidity.

No kidding. I was more open to ST than most. Was ok with it til s3, tho every season coulda been trimmed a few fluff episodes. Like EVERY one turning Mudd into a phychotic mass murderer rather than the genial confidence artist he is. ...but s4. Fuck me running. All the emoting, speaking moistly and softly, all up in their feels, literal therapy sessions, and not just short glossings. All for a season long story arc that shoulda took 3 episodes. 4 at most. I ended s4 calling it Star Trek: Therapy. I haven't looked at it since and didn't even know it got a 5th season. That I have no intention of watching. Never even bothered with Halo and Mastercheeks.

HALO and Star Trek both failed miserably simply because the writers of both shows thought that they were better than the original source material. Both shows are nothing more than poor fanfiction and the public have agreed with this. Frankly, what I miss most in live action shows is colors which make a place and people feel alive, not just grime, dirt, and cheap dusty suits in desolate places. Netflix's One Piece put the effort there and I call easily tell apart most of the environments from other productions rather than feel that jungles/forests/deserts blend together.

They never listen to fans. After a back door pilot in Voyager for Star Trek Excelsior - set between the Khitomer Accords and TNG, fans asked for it, and got.. Enterprise. After its cancellation, fans asked tor Axanar, and got... discovery. After Picard Season 3 brought fans back into the fold and we asked for a continuation of the Matalas storyline - we got Strange New Worlds. Dammit Paramount - just listen to the fans. Sometimes we're right.

Paramount forgot how to print the money they were in the 1990s when the studio was a powerhouse in Hollywood. Around the time of Nemesis that's when the end was Neigh for Star Treks second run. Of course the 3rd and 4th never left the planet and somehow sunk lower than the Titanic.

In fairness SNW was already cranking (previewed in STD) so it kind of came before Picard Season 3 (TNG reunion). What was truly amazing that, except for a comic book showing Spock before the events of ST2009, the powers that be didn't do anything to advance the ST storyline until Picard (which was two seasons of utter dreck and a third ok reunion season). Hilarious that they killed the only compelling character that came out of all of Kurtzman Trek (Captain Shaw).

Yes Star Wars is in dire dire dire shape... but at least they had Rogue One and Andor... Star Trek under Kurtzman hasn't had a single live action show I've liked... Listen up: If you make what people ACTUALLY want to see, read, listen to, and play, you will get the kind of engagement that leads to more money and happy customers willing to indulge in your content. It's really not a difficult concept to grasp, and yet people with degrees in business and marketing still can't seem to get it right. Btw. thank goodness Paramount gone in with the lawyers against fan films too, so it can reach even less audience. But they knew those could be better in writing quality than what they produced. Having to put effort in it at the end. Also destroying previous Trek actors' chance to earn money or just do it for passion by playing in a Star Trek fan film. With the deal with Skydance DOA, this isn't a surprise Paramount Global's in the shape that it's in. This company's been downhill since Viacom & CBS re-merged. & there were folks warning Redstone (including her late father & Lee Moonves) that this was a bad idea. But she went ahead anyway & this is the result.

Realistically they should have merged got back the library and spit out CBS. That whole Paramount only having the movie rights while CBS had the TV rights was utter crap and is what caused some of the issues related to NuTrek. Thinking back Viacom initially buying CBS from Westinghouse in the early 2000s is when lot of the trouble for the company started. Same thing happened to Warner Bros when they merged with Turner in the 1990s it was like mixing oil and water.

Spike use to have some wild stuff on when it first hit the scene "Most Extreme Elimination Challenge," which used clips from Takeshi's Castle. Anyways, thanks for the flashback to better days. They took two great IPs and destroyed them. That's what really happened. They couldn't save themselves by making good content. They just had to hire activists as writers and show runners.

This was in the making for a while now. These were just two shows and the quality and viewership (if you can call it that) of it wasn’t going to keep them above water. I’m not surprised nor do I have empathy for them.

MTV stopped being watchable as reality shows took over. Then again, it stopped being a music channel completely.

Whenever a company hires ppl who don't know how to, write direct produce act and treat i.p or fan bases, you deserve to lose your job. After hearing all the fan backlash, the executives could've stepped in and said no more bs politics or anything that's going to push fans away. Aka the ppl we need to keep our jobs. Ppl on top in Hollywood are getting what they deserve, after years of destroying our favorite franchises, and verbally attacking us for not! loving their dog sh*t.

Video killed the Radio Star. The Real World killed the Video Star. That is pretty cool that you were almost on Real World S.F. I was watching them back then. Sad to see Paramount in such a mess. At the same time, they reaped what they sowed.

Sadly no, some other corporation will buy them and ride out the 50 years or whatever the fuck is left on the ridiculously bloated copyright period.

So long as the copyright term lasts, there are exclusive rights that are transferable to whomever buys them from the current owners. Sadly, our copyright system is broken as hell and has been hijacked by big money interests to make public domain as far away as possible for anything and everything that has any monetary value or even perceived value.
