Bad stories, bad writing, and "The Message" is getting tiresome. I don't care about Star Wars anymore. I'm happy that we have the original, and prequels. I didn't mind Rouge One. I actually did not hate Solo, either. But the sequels were terrible, and I lost interest in Disney Star Wars. My four kids don't care about Star Wars, and I'm ok with that.

"What could go wrong? Release it!" It was money already taken from the subscribers that will be watching it anyway. It seems they have forgotten consistency is often a sign of good writing. For it makes the setting and world believable. For it has rules and limits. That don't change every other week. Which if it does add new elements, it does so carefully. In order to not break or conflict with what came before. Which all helps to aid the viewer in investing in the ip. It gives there a reason to. For if everything can change at a moment notice, like disney star wars has done countless times. It becomes worthless. There is no point to invest in it, since it is nothing. For how can you like or dislike something, if it never remains consistence in the slightest?

@@RealJohnnyGuillotine Star Wars isn't a love story. Nobody is tuning in for the romantic sub-plots between Ani and Padme, or Han and Leia. But Twilight was clearly not aimed at me, so if that was a sarcasm and it's actually really bad, it doesn't matter because I'll never be watching Twilight regardless. The Star Wars Holiday Special, on the other hand, is a fantastic experimental, low budget parody film with genuinely more heart, soul and core values than any Disney Star Wars project and I love it. It's quintessentially Star Wars, through and through, every bonkers moment. We can only imagine what it could have been with a 180 million dollar budget.

Honestly, I didn't watch the original trilogy until just before the sequels came out in preparation for them. I wasn't a superfan of it (cuz I'm a snob, and also episode 6 was really rough), but I was shocked at just how well the movies held up after all these years. A New Hope is an incredibly solid film especially, and for a movie that was allegedly written with no sequels in mind, the other two in the trilogy actually round the whole story really well. Some things really are timeless.

The cultural difference is too wide for me to totally agree, but as a 10yrr old in the 70s, the level of excitement for the release of New Hope would not be the same today, with so much content personally available. I only like New Hope, so I probably wouldn't be interested in 5 and 6 again. You wanted to get lucky before the internet, you took a girl to see Grease. You wanted to rub one out over Leia, alone, you went to see Star Wars 🙃

Quite possibly, they are making the right statement for the wrong reasons. Like think in the past decade, can you name a movie that has come out to acclaim even a fraction as massive as Star Wars specifically in the science fiction "space opera" genre??? Rebel Moon turned out to be woeful (putting it politely), and further back you had Jupiter Ascending (which I loved) but did horribly at the box office. Space Opera is seldom made into films, its even rarer that it's done right, so chances are, if the Original Trilogy was made today (not re-released exactly as it was originally written), we probably would hate it. And I say this as a forever star wars (well up until disney screw star wars over).

Was watching with childhood friends, and when we ALL threw out arms up in frustration over Obi and Leias Uncle/Niece relationship. When there was NO indication they spent THIS much time together from the past Movies. In fact PLENTY of contradictions to the OG. So I resolved that Disney Star Wars is NOT canonical to the Star Wars I grew up with (literally, I was born two years after the first movie {A New Hope} released). And have never returned since, although I STILL see people (justifiably) complaining about what Disney has done to BOTH these major franchises. ANYTHING produced or manufactured by Disney, is a raging dumpster fire. Keep woke out of our established IPs. Make your OWN (which is WHY they didn't, because they KNEW it wouldn't work. So the plan was to hijack beloved franchises, and PUSH their ideology onto people using the Pre established fan base as punching bags WHEN it failed).

Flashing lights and wild flailing doesn't hide the inconsistency of the lightsabers, that this guy can kill trained masters yet has trouble with a Padawan, or that the story keeps being terrible. Jedi were all about controlling their emotions, and while they had puritan values, a better hold over his heart would have stopped Anakin from becoming Vader. The fact that Luke refused to let his emotions control him was what saved both himself and his father in the end. Unfortunately, this story is made by people who want validation whenever they throw a tantrum.

One silver lining I'll take from the recent media failures is the long overdue deprecation of the "muh death threats!" misdirection. For years someone claiming they "got death threats!" over something was treated like an ultimate argument even though they would never provide the receipts. I've seen so many slimy fandom personalities and mid-rank media figures abuse it when they got into scandals, and people would honestly buy it and take their side over "the angry violent haters who literally want to kill you!". Now, finally, it seems like people are realizing those "death threats" are either whole-cloth made up or random critical messages online being interpreted as serious threats of violence

I can believe it. The internet is a big place, and it's not that hard to find a nutjob or two. I got death threats once for saying I liked MLK Jr's "I Have a Dream" speech, another time for pointing out that calling for extermination of white people is racism personified (strangely enough on that one, MSN decided to remove MY comment for being racist, not the death threat).

I haven't watched anything Star Wars since Mandalorian season 1. I barely cared any movies and shows in general for a while, and then the filmmakers started calling everybody who doesn't like their stuff racist, while being racist themselves, etcetera etcetera. I'm not a political person, I just have better things to spend my money on than bad media made by people who hate me for intrinsic traits and want me to pay them to insult me. I just don't care anymore. I get more entertainment from watching videos breaking down these terrible shows than I would get from watching the shows themselves.

I'm a Gardener, if I spent a week heavy pruning a large complex and ended with plants of wildly varying heights, bad lines and sloppy facings? That isn't worthy of praise or acceptence. I should be criticised. The ones that deserve the greatest praise are those talented, and dedicated enough, to do high quality work, especially in a mediocre ecosystems.

The time I was involved with fanwiki I can only say it was run by a bunch of narcissistic sociopaths. It reminded me of a small mafia since they ran multiple ones even if they didn’t know anything about the fandom. I still remember properly quoting, transcribing lore, and uploading pictures and it would get removed because it would steal their spot light. I also remember getting banned over something stupid. I was reporting I guy who was editing SoulCalibur pages with Crash Bandicoot as a playable character. I was banned not the Crash Bandicoot lunatic who also sent me death threats. That’s why I will never trust these garbage wiki pages. All of this was circa 2009-2011.

I have a friend.. he HATES Nacho Cheese flavored Doritos chips, whenever he eats one, he starts uncontrollably gagging. I laugh... but I don't try to tell him he is wrong because he doesn't like the flavor.. I don't try to force him to ingest it and be HAPPY.. Dorito's doesn't blame him for a lack of earnings. They don't call him names, they understand that some people won't like certain flavors. This is why Doritos doesn't make a Broccoli flavored chip.. because a Broccoli flavored chip, while it might be groundbreaking, and revolutionary, risky and HEALTHY it is highly probable that fans of Doritos chips wouldn't purchase or enjoy the new flavor. I refuse to eat broccoli flavored Star Wars. It makes me gag. I will not be called a bigot, because that is my reaction to their product.
