Pro tip for anybody struggling with the second phase of this fight. Go to Audio settings and turn voice and music down to zero. Guaranteed to reduce your desire to end your life by 75%.
I never had any trouble with them, and I died like 100 times Edit:If anything his lines of the prophets could not stop us, cortana could not stop us, you will not stop us and my greatest battle, my last battle are 2 of the best lines ever, the 2nd one even being respectful and honorable
@Alex Luca I was yesterday years old when I discovered you can literally thruster over his head when he's swinging his hammer, and it's a 100% effectiveness dodge

That is definitely not how it went when I did it lmao. He insta kills you off the start before you can even move, best I could do was immediately grapple upwards.
I just danced around him with the sword until it ran out, then shot him about 12 times with the mangler (Legendary difficulty). After about 4 hours of trying to actually kill him that is.
This fight was fine, up until the grav hammer phase. Literally whoever designed the bosses with grav hammers is an absolute moron. They literally designed a boss who can run faster than you, who can jump across the room, and literally kill you in 1 shot on NORMAL MODE. Absolute trolls.
There's actually a happy middle range where Escharum doesn't lunge you but can't reach you with his hammer and will run towards you. The lunge is supposed to punish people who hang out 1 mile away and snipe him, forcing them closer
dont forget him and bassus had actual tracking of you while you were running toward away or sideways of them, while they we're in the air they changed their heading so they can come straight for you
This is how i beat him on legendary. As soon as the you get the controls drop a dropshield and grapple away from him. Pick up a pluse carbine and needler. Use the pluse carbine to kill the shield and the needler to damage him. For the reactor, use the shock rifle to destroy it, as it only takes 2 shot. Then, repeat the combo using the needler and pluse rifle. Round a corner and drop a dropwall and throw as many nades/explosive you have as he turns the corner if you ran out of needler ammo. For the final part, do dont let him near you. Use all the power weapons and grapple to kill him. If he is too close he will use the jumping atk.
Must’ve died over 100 times so far. I say so far because I’ve still not killed him. Used all the power weapons except for the skewer straight away and now I’m left to just grappling around with a mangled shooting him once then attempting to dodge his attacks that you’d literally need the reactions of the master chief to dodge them.
It's easier to hang back when he uses the scrap cannon and just shoot him from the sidelines, then when he uses the hammer it's best to stay out of open areas or the long halls especially if there's quite the distance between you 2.Also I find it that when he does a regular jump towards you you can actually run towards him and dash, it basically helps avoid getting hit by him as you dash underneath him, that's how I eventually took him doan
I reckon this video fight was scripted by 343 to avoid Escharum flying through the air and ending you before you can blink. I’ve done Legendary twice so far, I always use the thruster when he gets ready to jump
Yea don't use the power weapons until the end otherwise this fight gets harder, gun Faze is actually easy then the hammer faze he leaps like cazy and I shots you, one for the best ways to help anyone is to use the shock pistol for the gun faze I felt like did best damage
I was so close to get Escharum on Heroic on my first try, I was absolutely focused and moving extremely fast and It was glorious but a single misclick when he had the hammer ended up killing me, I managed to do Jega on the first try and I was hyped, It was a Bummer but I killed him on the second attempt. The best thing was. I was determined on killing him with the Red sword of his friend, and I did it. At the end, I found a power weapon ammo box on the next level and I choose to kill the Harbinger with the same Red sword.

I used the bloodsword during the rocket part just wait around a corner hit him and run sometimes you can get 2 hits. But the damn hammer part is dumb he just leaps across the room instantly killing me. It's not like this video at all he never just runs at me like this shows. Always leaps
Maybe i got lucky, but it only took me 1 try with this guy on legendary. Shock rifle for the exposed couplings, then I just ran and used needlers when it was time to shoot em up. Needlers OP for this boss.
The hardest part of this entire fight is the opening, because on legendary he'll usually kill you in 5 shots since he's POINT BLANK INFRONT OF YOU, if you don't have invisi-thrusters, just try to melee him as soon as you can, potentially by using the bloodblade from the previous bossfights to instantly lunge after the cutscene, once you get past him the bossfight is a cakewalk.
@@mattdrolet17 As stated, try and use a melee weapon if you have one on hand before the bossfight, and if not, just keep trying with the thrusters until you get lucky.
@@LeahThe3th Did that and beat him. Used the blood blade and swung at him with the grappler then darted away 😂 soon as his shield was down 2 cinder shot rounds killed him
Listening to this comment and spamming the disruptor was the only way I could get past this boss. Honestly horrible boss. the un-dodgeable lunge attack was so cheap
@@matthewbrown9336 It is possible to dodge his lunge with the thruster. However, the margin for error is really small. You have to nail both the timing and the relative direction.
Usually I give IGN shit for horrible gameplay, but the person playing in this video did an absolutely admirable job, especially at the last part where Escharum uses the hammer.
He wasn't easy hokie but I did find it easier to use the thrusters, espeeeeeeecially when he uses the lunge, of course even that is risky cause if you use it to early he can actually track you mid air and hit you

I’m about to play this boss on legendary. So far on legendary none of the boss battles have been fun. Did anyone Playtest them? The rest of the game is great. But these bosses are ridiculous.
no, they're not fun, and they're 70% luck 30% skill at most. anyone who says otherwise is wrong. guaranteed noone play tested it. just amped up the settings for legendary and moved on. thanks 343 for the bullet sponging 1 hit kill lunge across the map enemies, thats exactly what we wanted

@@sneezylou2 been playing ever since CE. Infinite is the best Halo out since 1 ,2 ,3 and Reach. The boss fights where fun and so was the whole game, dont come talking to me about the master chief collection, i have been playing all those games since i was a little kid. Your previous comment on wich my first comment was based is simply not correct, like i said before seems like you are just bad at the game, there was no luck needed just skills, and memory in patterns and enemy placement, And some tactical weapon insight.
Of fucking course 343 decides to make him an unfair bullet sponge that never loses aggro and always manages to get up close. I was looking forward to this fight and it's some of the cheapest shit. It's even worse because I play on controller so I can't cycle through equipment very fast. They really needed to make him slower or reward the player with extra damage if they keep the bloodblade
All you have to do for any of these bosses is stack the blast/plasma/heatwave coils up. All the coils you can find. Stack them in a pile. Time it right when the boss steps close to them. Blow him to hell.
Love this fight man, of course the jump instakill could be nerfed to 2 hit kill and then the fight would be legendary (of course with chief being much faster like I did him)
I did not shoot Escharum. I used the energy sword, and beat him with it even when the blades energy was devoid. I wanted to feel a real boss fight experience because every other boss fight I’ve done is something I had always wanted to be with blade and shield. Guns is pretty boring.
I hope 343 reads this comment and knows this is the dumbest “boss fight” in all of Halo. Congratulations on creating something so stupid that players have to look up how to cheese the fight. Clearly you played year one Destiny and took ample notes. 👏👏👏
I was able to beat him on legendary by just spamming my grappling hook and turning around and shooting him with a plasma based weapon. :) easily gave me cancer
