It isn't "voice cracks," it's compression-induced vocal distortion. She's tensing her larynx, squeezing her vocal folds up against one another until they grind against one another & eventually close shut. Not the healthiest way to induce "grit" in one's voice (read: don't do this, squeeze & push is *not* how you produce a gritty, grainy sound without hurting yourself), but done sparingly like she is it should be fine.
@@MicNantel I never had my hand wiggle when i finger pick haha :) anyway it's possible, I don't know i'm just assuming, all i'm saying is she's just playing really clean , which is great right! :D
Jonathan Nantel pretty sure it’s nervous shaking. Any mistake would be sooo noticeable. Anyone would get nervous. I play guitar too. My hand doesn’t shake like that on a normal basis
If we all got asked to play any song for Halsey live, I am sure I woule be holding it to not piss myself and my hands would he shaking! Lol😂👼🏻 but the girl played so good.
Not nervous, shes using her pinky to anchor her and but finger picking with her others which can kind of cause the picking fingers to shake. Kind of hard to explain but fellow guitar players will know what i mean lol
Halsey's voice is seriously no joke. She has really beautiful voice. And to ppl saying she's not that great or that she's straining her voice, I'm pretty sure she knows what she's doing. Don't try to be a vocal coach lmao.
She has a talent with her voice. I honestly wish she'd release an all acoustic/stripped album and do an album that's more rock.. I try listening to the album versions and it's just not the same with the way they mess with the audio. Anyone that thinks this isn't her knowing how to use her voice knows nothing on music.
As a rock fan, her voice is way up there with the best. She controls and explodes vocally when she needs with zero notice. She knows exactly when the timing is right. She is fantastic. And yes, she has an unreal voice
I dare to say ALL Halsey’s Stripped versions are as good or if not better than the original version. And yes hands down to the guitarist, she is amazing live too!
Stripped are quite a bit better imo her voice with a guitar and a drum kit and or keyboard is 100x better than some popped up speeded up version of her imo you just dont get remotely close to the emotion
@@0_Comprimise9 looks have nothing to do with a person's personality, soul, talent or anything related. She's amazingly talented & has been through hell. She's helped so many people because of her talking about struggles but still surviving(even though she still struggles). Shy or not, looks shouldn't be a factor. People should be appreciated for who they are on the inside. Just saying...
OMG, her voice is so beautiful that it gives me goosebumps and brings up all kinds of emotions. Kudos to the guitarist for setting up the perfect path for her beautiful voice.
@@duloogo Take a look at the comments from other lives of "nightmare" (especially the one at the Voice) people were saying she could not sing the chorus live, but she was dancing a lot tho..
I love Halsey's voice. She is really unique. But the guitarist...the way she plays...really amazing. It gives this song that kind of background feel that gives you goosebumps.
there is NOTHING wrong with using auto tune...but listen to 3:28-3:31, her pitch falters, so where is the autotune?? autotune is not magic, if your voice sucks, autotune will not fix it... are you going to compain about the digital reverb on her voice toooo???
Probably an ex lmao. I would assume near the end of the relationship, during an argument that cemented they would break-up later. Happens to us all. I've been called a nightmare of a human being before. Shit is what it is. Difference is that, she can make a fuckin banger from that shit while I just go and eat some food
Ive been called a nightmare numerous times i dont think i am but guys love to call girls names especially psycho and all that crqzy talk when they mad. Im actually super chill person lolol its comical
Halsey is one of my favourite singers since I decided to explore and love myself the way I am. I feel that she is the older sister I never had, the wise best friend I needed or a extraordinary cousin that my parents would judge and yet love. She is a sweetheart in her own unique way and I hope one day I'll meet her in person just to tell her how much she helped me
I WAS GONNA SAY THE SAME THING She used to sound awful live, she's definitely improved. But I think that's why it's a slower tempo cause she's still working on it
I hate to break it to ya but her vocals suck. Don't get me wrong I love her and her songs and she's one of my favs but she needs a lot of work on her vocals she's literally straining her voice in chorus. If she keeps on doing that she'll ruin her vocal chords. So yea. Anyways have a nice life :3
@@shadowmess3131 "you hate to break it to us" do you know how a healthy voice sounds like? I doubt it. doesn't sound too pushed up to me. but yes, obviously she's still got some work to do - but she sings AMAZING live now.
bruh i literally watched grey's anatomy yesterday and some dude asks christina "are you the big or the little spoon?" and her inner monologue replies "i'm a knife and i'll stab you" big ass mood
Halsey is Just freezing awesome 😎, she just killed this. Even after so many years i came back here to just listen to those roars. Kindness is weakness, she really made me learn that, that line hit the spot.
@Dan Mcavena why does it have to be - praise one and not the other... I never said halsey wasn't great here (not just good) i love her.OK!!... But i loved the guitar Very much too and nobody usually mentions them and i really wanted to.... So chill..
@Nivedita but if you calm your shit my comment wasn’t rude I was appreciating Halsey and her arrangement here. As you were for the other lady. Must be American !!! I can comment what I like as you did ! So fuck yu
I'm not a fan of Halsey or her music but this is perfection! She doesn't need all the fake autodrumb beats, the autotune, the tough persona, or the backup dancers/singers. Just use a piano or an acoustic guitar and her. She is perfection by herself (unadulterated Halsey) and is way more than what is needed. If she made a full album like this I would buy it and listed over and over again.
@@Haddy26 Which is? "i have borderline personality disorder and someone else is getting blamed for it, especially the men, yes i blame the men, not the wahmens , listen as i justify sexing up the wahmens and bed hopping , but no no , my misery whilst totally self inflicted and bourne of destructive self hatred is all the mens fault, because i am wahmen and im psychotic" thats my best guess. If shes to be taken at face value that is a more cynical me would say its more "Ive worked out how to monetise my emotional instability as a way to both make you fear and pity me and i am embracing my fast cycling bipolar/emotional personality disorder as a means to make money but of course its still YOUR fault because you are obviously to blame"
The way she sings "I don't owe you a goddamn thing" makes me cry. So strong emotionally line in this song. The whole song in this version keeps me cryin'
Original makes me feel like a bad ass woman i don't need no one Stripped makes me wanna sit in a bath and cry while drinking wine and smoking a cigarette
Really not hard to play on guitar ? She’s amazing but the point is not for the guitar to stand out but to give the right atmosphere for halseys vocals.
@@KichboiiJJ Then you clearly dont know how a live auto-tune works. It works just as a gate would (attack and release to sound as "natural" as possible). And not even the best live-autotunes works perfect.
