Pierre's Panic Room - In another episode of Panic Room , Legendary Hamburger recalls Martin Lawrence telling Bernie Mac "If you can't handle it, you shouldn't be here" . A must listen! IG: @ComicPierre
Pierre coined the saying "Light skin, we making a comeback" . I remember this dude told a story about going to see a sistah and she had him drive through Beverly Hills just to get him to Compton. He was like "Girl, You live in Compton!! You ain't gotta drive through Beverly Hills to find your raggedy a$$ house" 🤣🤣
Pierre didn't create that phrase, comedians from the 80s did. I don't know who exactly created the phrase I heard Paul Mooney said it a few times. But people start saying light skinned is making a comeback in the 80's Back in the day, before any of us where born 30's - 1960's Hollywood gave dark skinned actors roles that where demeaning. Playing Uncle Tom's, maids, butlers and etc Hollywood had light skinned actors who didn't play a maid or demeaning roles People who where light skinned like Lena Horne, Harry Belafonte, James Earl Jones and Dorothy Dandridge didn't play roles that was demeaning. Majority of the time, Hollywood didn't want Blacks of any complexion to play any role, that wasn't demeaning. Hollywood wanted Lena Horne to lie and say she was Puerto Rican, because she was light skinned. She told them no, she wasn't going to lie, she was proud to be Black. When Sidney Poitier came he changed the game, he never took a demeaning role In the 70's dark skinned actors where in demand and they didn't have to play demeaning roles, like Hattie McDaniel did, in Gone with the Wind Diana Ross, Sidney Poitier, Billie Dee Williams, Diahann Carroll, Ossie Davis, Richard Roundtree came they had choices to play blue singers, doctors, nurses, cops and etc They didn't have to play demeaning roles any more When the late 70's and 80's came we had people like Prince, El Debarge and The Debarge's, Vanity, actor Taimak, Apollonia, Morris Day and etc, who where everywhere. In the 80's that's when the phrase Light skinned is making a comeback started because it was so many light skinned entertainers, actors and musician. I remember growing up people, lying and faking trying to be look like Taimak, Prince and etc People wearing Jheri curls, saying it was naturally curly and colored contacts, saying they had Indian in their blood or Creole 😅
He was saying that because the comic before him,got booed and left the stage crying, so Bernie was letting them know, that ain't him and he killed it with the best stand up comedy set, ever!
@@marcusmonroe2395 Damn I never knew Martin said that to Bernie but he had hands so if they got in a scrap it would of been rough but I know Bernie would of gave Martin hell if they fought too cause Bernie ain't a punk.
Bernie was my big homie. This is true. Big Mac told me Martin was a cocky lil dude who punked him and pissed him off at Def Jam… He wanted to beat his ass but Martin gave him the fire to snap all the way out! Ninjaz don’t even know he had a show for HBO before Def Jam that never came out. Big homie was the greatest… ✊🏽 ☝🏽
@@RanceRob I’m 43, sometimes it would be awkward watching it with my mom and mostly all the comedians talked about sex. That’s how I knew the really good ones, like Steve Harvey, that could be funny, without mentioning sex.
Wow! Ok so that's why Bernie was saying "I ain't scared..." See that was Bernie's 2nd time on Def Jam. The 1st year he was on, he's energy was totally different. Like he was kinda timid. He was apart of the 6 shows that aired starting in April of 1991.
Wow never knew they had Bernie mac shook but he went out there and killed it tho. gotta love the back stage stories salute to hamburger. he a funny comic in my opinion #Dantana773
Oh, that's so cool to know, I saw that when I 13, I use stay up late to watch Def Jam, and when Bernie came out and said that I just thought it was something he always said. It so cool to hear the back story, especially because even at 13, I knew he killed it. I still quote that set; it will pop in my head at the most random times.
I cried real tears when I saw it the first 4-5 (maybe more) times. King Bernie Mac was straight comedic G-O-L-D!! Platinum performance!!!! I STILL have Def Comedy Jam Seasons 1-3 on VHS! Yes, VHS! 😂

Martin Lawrence is the GOAT and he definitely deserves more credit than what he gets! He walked so a Tyler perry & others could run. Point blank period.
I'm happy Pierre getting his shine been a fan since I was a kid . I love that how to be a playa scene when P was cheating on his girl and got caught that ish was hilarious 😂
Wow!! That's why i love your show man! These back stories are beautiful! I've watched that show 1000 times & it was funny everytime. Now I'm about to go watch it again and it will be even funnier! ✌🏾
I remember seeing it live on def jam and our household was laughing so hard , and all these years later it is held as one of the greatest performances RIP 🪦 ❤❤❤ BERNIE
Then back story brings the set to life. Mac saying "I ain't scared of u mfs" and then he would say "kick it" and Kid Coat I would drop a beat. Mac: hey kid, after each joke I need your to have a beat ready. KC: ok cool, what's the signal Mac: when I say kick it drop it KC: I got you
I remember not liking hamburger for anything except him saying, "HAaamBURger" in between his jokes. like it was his version of "gohddamn" lol. but I was Madd young. I started to appreciate it
One of the greatest comedy moments in "Def Comedy Jam" history so glad I watched it I was laughing and cheering Bernie Mac oan not knowing wat he was up against. Knowing what I know now, makes me more proud of all the comedians that came through that Era. 👏🏾 🙏🏾💯✊🏾👊🏾
