Halloween is coming in fast, anyone have their costumes planned yet? I don't. People love projects, but sometimes you need a few smaller videos along the way. Hopefully this one helps some of you out, and I should be back to some projects fairly soon for you guys.
Only thing i can add is the other people who put out 20+ minute videos for what you nailed need to watch your video. Thank you for the simple easy to understand video. Folks dont watch the other guys.
Awesome video. This is the clearest explanation I have seen. Showing it from different angles really helps! I have watched many videos trying to learn this and your video is the best!
This shows how being good at explaining things is a skill. Thank you for this, the only clear explanation I’ve found. Liked, subscribed, and I’m gonna check your other contents too
Thank you for the video!! The left side of my stitch looks good but the right side of my stitch the knot is showing. What am I doing incorrectly? Thanks again!
So I found your channel a few days ago, and have binged through almost all of them. Thank you for everything and You got me super pumped to start my journey in leatherworking. Something has been missing from my life and I think this could be it. Ready to splurge all my creative juices into all my projects for friends and family! Something I think would be a fun add. You've done a lot of hand stiching, would you do maybe a small or include in another video using the sewing machine? Just to see from your perspective.
@@DarkHorseWorkshop You do a great job. I've looked for videos like yours, and you for sure do amazing ones. Cool projects, simple, fun, you display everything properly and you continue to improve on every video you do. Even if you stop youtube, I hope you always do leather working.
Acho que deveria focar mais a imagem do trabalho em si. Faltou riquezas de detalhes da costura na peça. Ficou ruim o que poderia ter sido bom. Sorry! Rio de Janeiro. Brasil.
Thank you black horse this is so helpful I am just starting at a young age and have done many other things in the past but this is somehow the hardest to learn thank you.
Depending on how the leather is used, most leathers actually loosen with time. Kind of like "breaking in" a new pair a shoes over time. And if stitched correctly with a good strong waxed thread(braided and not twisted), the seam should last as long as the item its stitched on! Cheers!
A uniform saddle stitch is a sight to behold. I use a slightly different method but It gets you to the same place. It's whatever you can practice, achieving repeatable results for, so you can stitch away without having to think about it too much.
This was a really excellent video. I hope you get to review this because I have a question… I’ve seen a number of videos where one does not loop the thread around the needle, you just makes the stitch. You’re the only person I’ve seen loop the thread around each needle on each side of the piece. Can you comment on when no loops are necessary, one loop is preferable and when two loops are preferred?
There are far better people than me for hand stitching. But if it's a spot that I want quite tight, it helps cinch things down and not slack as you move to the next stitch. I wouldn't say it's totally necessary, and I rarely do it. I just waned to show it here so I was thurough.
I just bought a bunch of starter leather patterns as a new hobby to try while its too cold for metal detecting. The instructions did not really do how to saddle stitch justice. This explanation was a huge help and should help me when I begin the journey today! Thanks!!
I was just watching the viking pouch video, would vaseline make dyeing easier? Or would the extra effort and time make it not worth it? Spread vaseline around the raised foregrounds, so when you dye the background the little fingers that accidentally intrude would be on the goo that you can wipe off after it dries. Would vaseline soak into leather and make it nasty?
