I am currently working on a set of very small boxes to put some of the ashes of a long time friend. I agree that it is a great honor to be asked to do this sort of project. Thank you for sharing your work, it's quite an amazing box.

Often when a loved one passes away, it's hard to know what to do for the family, you have given them a blessing disguised as a box. Your box will always be with his earthly remains and that's a high honor.

Hey Andy this must have been a difficult project for you mate. Having watched jake over the years on Matt's channels you get a sense of the person & jake came across as a unique kind of person & I think you've made a unique kind of urn for him, the oak timber is beautiful along with the herringbone lid & the mesquite you've made jake a totally perfect resting place that you should be proud of my friend. Beautiful Urn. I'm in the process of making one for my sister who recently passed away.

The safe way to use the tablesaw to saw off a box lid is to hot melt glue a small piece of scrap across the cut line on each side (inside) before assembling the box. Set the blade height to just cut thru the box and knock the scrap off thru the kerf with a putty knife.

Nice job. I don't think I saw the part where you lined the inside of the box with another layer of wood to provide the pressure fit for the lid.

Quick question please Andy. I want to make a "companion urn" for my wife and I. My question is, how do you decide how much volume you need for one's ashes. My wife's ashes and my ashes will both be in the urn. The first one to die, goes into one half of the urn which is separated from the other half by a board that will be removed when the second one's dies; then our ashes will be together. How much space should I allow for one person's ashes? I will need that space X's 2, with a removable board for separation. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Gary

I too recently finished making an urn for someone ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zaPvng1owKw.html would really appreciate it if you would check it out and tell me what you think I also didn’t want it to look like a traditional urn anyways making an urn is one of those things you are honored to do it and I’m really proud of the ones I’ve made but you don’t like doing it. I enjoy making them but don’t enjoy having to make them. I don’t think that makes sense but I think you know what I’m talking about it’s a conflicting feeling. Anyways well done and again my condolences.
