This is exactly why I am shooting my single shots at f10 or f11. I am not stable at all, but I will give these tips a try. Thank you!

Hi Jamie, very helpful video. I would be very interested in a demonstration of how you select images for a stack that include "out of order" shots from back-and-forth manual focus stacking. When I don't know how much time I have with an insect, I often go for an optimal single-shot focus point first, then let the focus peaking go back and forth while shooting and trying to get the best coverage in the time I have. If I understood you correctly, you sometimes do that too and I'd love to see how you work with the resulting images. I use Zerene and ususally sort the input files by scale first, then remove any mis-framed, mis-focused, or duplicate focused images.

Great video Jamie. I have the same setup (just another diffuser (AK diffuser). In bracketing mode , are you in manual focus or autofocus?

I went out early Sunday morning but by the time I found any Damselflies they were starting to warm up. I struggle doing handheld bracketing so trying the tripod method this weekend and have brought a bendy attachment with clips so can hold the subject still.

Awesome! I'm yet to get a damselfly shot this year. The weather has been terrible lately. Those bendy attachments look pretty handy. I might try one out soon

I'm a bit confused - I've a new Canon R10, and supposedly when it is in Auto Focus, I can access in-camera bracketing and stacking. However, folks on a Canon forum say that I wouldn't be able to use flash with it. Would you clarify that, please? Great videos, that's why I've subbed!
@JamieSpensley
@JamieSpensley Месяц назад
As far as I know, Canon has focus bracketing but it does not sync with the flash unfortunately. You will either have to get shots without flash or if you want to use flash, use the techniques I showed in this video to manually bracket your shots

Thanks! Cygnustech saw I was making videos and sent me a new diffuser which included the holder. Not sure if he usually makes them with raynox holders. But it's basically just a UV filter stuck to the side of my diffuser.

Did you modify the Cygnustech with a Raynox holder!? Could you send me a link of that part!?

I’m 72 and no part of my body seems to stay still. Rubbish balance and if I knelt like you I’d never get up. Enjoy it while you can Jamie, it gets harder!

Macro photography definitely takes a toll on the body. My knees and back and in bits sometimes

Deborah, I'm 77 and always carry a lightweight tripod with me -- not to put my camera on, but to use as a crutch to help me get back up from kneeling down! Of course, the tripod won't eliminate other unpleasant things your body might do while straining to get back up! 🙂

Thank you for the tips ! How do you mange to attach your lens on your diffuser? I would love to do that same
@JamieSpensley
@JamieSpensley 2 месяца назад
It's a raynox holder. And it's just a UV filter stuck onto the side of the diffuser. And the raynox simply clips onto the UV filter

When you are using brkting on Olympus. Is your exposure correct for each frame or does it build up the correct exposure over the relevant number of frames?
@MicaelWidell
