I was remembering how I used to listen to this acoustic song years ago and all I had to run on was something about a lion and a bunch of guys in a white room. For weeks I’ve tried to find this and it finally came to me in a dream and I woke up and found it! Thank God!! I remember why I loved this song now!
Lion Skin is about the place between awake and asleep, when you have something heavy on your mind and when your imagination is the most vivid. I love the way HLH express the song meanings. Their overall talent is overwhelming.
I wonder, can you daydream at night? Lying awake, I've had too much time I'm watching picture shows in the shadows Dance for the crowd tonight Imagination is such a vivid place to hide While stars watch over you Through silent homes The lights are out but I walk these halls The way I've walked before Sleeping, with saints and apparitions between the walls The lights are out but I walk these halls I promised not to wake you, so I'll walk light, just so you can hear The rats in the roof and termites in the ceiling We'll hear everything except what we need to hear Sleeplessness is for the restless, and I'm just fine Left to wander, aimless in unconsciousness There's spiders crawling from the corners of my eyes Let them weave their little webs to snatch the sunlight from the lens I'm staring at the ceiling 'cause I'm fed up with the sight Weigh my eyelids back to sleep, sealed by silken silver threads While stars watch over you Through silent homes The lights are out but I walk these halls The way I've walked before Sleeping, with saints and apparitions between the walls The lights are out but I walk these halls Cast the sheep out of your mind Count the wolves and we'll sleep tonight I stumble in and I stumble out of unfamiliar rooms in foreign houses But I'm at home, a ghost that has left behind his sheets Unrequited, until I wake up somewhere I know that I've never been I'll stay 'til sleep takes over you And I'll walk while stars watch over you Through silent homes The lights are out but I walk these halls The way I've walked before Sleeping, with saints and apparitions between the walls The lights are out but I walk these halls The way I've walked before Sleeping, with saints and apparitions between the walls The lights are out but I walk these halls Cast the sheep out of your mind Count the wolves and we'll sleep tonight
Never heard of Fort Hope. Very much love HLH, Slaves (US), DGD etc. Quick song load of Fort Hope and very much impressed, so cheers for the comment. I'm off to binge now!
I love that feeling you see them get at 2:16 when you can just feel the song coming together. It's kind of hard to explain, but I'm sure if you're in a band you know this feeling. It's a feeling where you just have to smile, because you know you all have come so far.
awesome, I loved it!! my one criticism is that the vocals kinda sounded... forced, like he was power belting the whole song. the really powerful belting is good but should be used in moderation so to speak, you feel me? not saying he's a bad singer by any means though, one of my all time favorites, but this song wasn't necessarily his best work. but I still loved it. hands like houses will always be one of my favorite bands!! (also, check out the 2010 hair. nice)
This is certainly when he was still a bit more inexperienced/new... Listen to the Snow sessions version and you can tell a big difference in his delivery. He just keeps getting better in my opinion :)
I have been listening to both versions of this song for almost hmmmm a good day now. I still haven't gotten sick of it. It's safe to say this is a band I will be following for a while!
Why do we all have to fight about who's better, can't we all just be happy that we like the type of music that isn't mainstream and just sit back and enjoy it? :)
