I've had the HomeHub 1000 for a couple of years and are still getting 'LCP Echo Request' failures almost daily where I lose the Internet Connection. Checking the Logs, I've had 51 Disconnects in the last 11 days. One of their techs who came did not like the 1000 and did not speak highly of the 2000 either. I'm just wondering if the 3000 could possibly improve the Disconnects that I am getting? Might it have newer and improved Firmware over previous models? Your thoughts Mark would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mark, I had Bell Fibe 50 installed last Friday, but for some reason they gave me a HH2000 (even though my contract says HH3000)? We are having huge issues with the 2000, sound blips every few minutes over HDMI and the pairing between the receivers and the VAP3400 has dropped 4 times in 5 days, which ruins your recordings. 3 of the 4 times I have had to reboot right back at the 2000, as the repairing procedure did not correct the issue. When I investigated via google, I found I should have had the 3000, but also many comments that the 3000 firmware is unstable and "not street ready". Now I'm not sure whether to push for the 3000 I should have had or not?? (never had any of these issues with my old wired PVR :(.

We had problems the day after the 3000 was installed. The Bell technician on the phone said to reboot. I pulled the plug, opened the batter door and the battery fell out. I tried all the ways i could think of to put it back in and found one that worked but I don't know if it's in right. How should the battery be positioned to put in back in place correctly?
@MarcSaltzmanTech
@MarcSaltzmanTech 7 лет назад
Oh no! I can help. My unit didn't come with a battery initially, so Bell sent me one in the mail. On the box it says to ensure the Home Hub 3000 is connected to a power outlet before installing the battery. The battery door on the bottom of the router slides left or right, as you'll see, and then opens once the latch is opened. Then you line up the copper teeth between the router and battery and drop it in, then close the door. Let me know how it goes!

Will Bell still not send you a Home Hub 3000 if you're not on the pure fibre optic connection? As opposed to the fibre optic go the node and then the node to your home (on the copper) ? That's the excuse they gave me.. I'm having some issues with IoT devices not being compatible with the Fast 5250 (Home Hub 2000) modem.

Hi Marc, appreciate your videos. Can you be more specific re how to disable the router portion of the Hub 3000.I switched to Bell yester from Rogers due to sometimes unstable connectivity and very low uploads speeds. I have the eero pro mesh system with gateway eero + 3 beacons. I have tried running the eero in double NAT mode and bridge mode - in either case, i am getting notably lower download speeds than before for my ethernet connected PC (via switch - my connection is Hub 3000 to eero & eero to switch) and eero wifi devices. I've spent hours on the phone with eero support and bell support - with no improvements and inconsistent recommendations. I have bell fibe TV (all receiver connected via wifi). Any suggestions? - i hesitate to throw away the $700 spent on the eero mesh - purchased since the pandemic began. Do i really need to now get the bell whole home with 6 pods? - dont know if that will show significant improvement ....very frustrated...

Same here.... switched today from Cable Gigabyte to Fiber Gigabyte. The upload speed increased significantly, but the download speed decreased. And I am in the condo building, normally I have to get increase. Both tests done using WiFi from the same laptop. So apparently, the WiFi of this big old 3000 is worse than the competitor's 'white tower' modem. I do not see solution to this, only to spend time, efforts and money for getting my own router. Probably will switch back to cable.

Can the RJ45 LAN ports support faster speeds above 1 GB/S? You might have to get a new 10 gig NIC (120$ each) and your rj45 cables will need to be at least a CAT6 (30$). Also the Wifi speed will never ever be over 1gig for speed. I wonder if fibe is even needed until the rest catches up?

Thanks for the review Marc! Quick question : When you used to use the HomeHub 2000, how did it provide a wireless signal to the TV receivers? Or was it a different hardwired transmitter that provided this signal? And if the latter is true, was this transmitter wired to the HomeHub 2000? Thanks again!!
@HCkev
@HCkev 7 лет назад
The 2000 don't connect to TVs directly, it needs an external access point connected to the router, using one of the 4 ethernet ports. The 3000 is supposed to have that built-in.
@jackjackjj3271
@jackjackjj3271 6 лет назад
If you havr homehub 2k. That depends on the tv receivers that you have. You might need a transmitter for your wireless receiver depends on the model. Depends how far your receiver on the modem.. But if you have the latest 4k pvr receiver i believe it connects directly to your hh 2000, but still you might need a trasmitter depeding how far your modem from your 4k pvr receiver..

I just had a Bell guy over this morning to replace my Hub 2000 with the Hub 3000. We plugged in the Hub 3000 with nothing connected and tested the wireless network signal. The Hub 3000 failed to have a better range than my Hub 2000 by 1 bar with 2 different devices in different locations around our property. Bottom line is that I kept the Hub 2000 and saved $200. I am now in the process of finding a Netgear modem/router with better range than my Hub 2000.

The trouble with the HH3000 modem-router is that it is proprietary to Bell and altho their website has some instructions, there is no comprehensive user manual available. If a person bought the HH3000 to save paying a recurring rental fee, owning it would be futile since it may be unusable if one switches to another service provider.

no, but you can see what devices are on the network, when, how much data is used, etc. but not WHAT you're accessing.

So I have been a bell customer for over 20 years...both business lines and home for internet and all. You're telling me I have to pay $7 a month for a router that will actually work with the setup of my house. Yet if I were to cancle all my longtime subscriptions and sign up for a new package I would get the device free? Please let me know what sense this makes...yea attracting new customers is great but what about the loyal ones?

My problem isnt speed with the HH3000, the Fibre is really really fast. But the the connection is unstable, routers freeze and must be rebooted. The guy from bell said I could plug in the Fibe receiver directly in the 4K Receiver with an ethernet jack with no additional config, but within 5 minutes it crashed the whole modem. This hardware is garbage, and no amount of firmware seems to fix the issue. But boy, is it fast. 320MBPS wireless. If only i had an internet connection up for it to work long enough.

Tony, I would recommend calling Bell and insisting they move your modem to the main floor for free. Modems should be on the main floor in a two story house.

These are not modems/routers. They are routers only. They use VLANs to direct the internet vs TV traffic which is why a regular router does not work unless you have VLAN settings and set the internet to VLAN 35 and the TV to VLAN 36. All of Bell's Home Hubs used for fibre to the home are routers with VLAN setting capabilities. They are not modems combined with a router. Not that it matters, but some might find it interesting.

It's not that much better, but Bell saved a fortune consolidating the UPS unit and having it built-in and charging for it - changing DNS is not support but the option is there ..strange you try it... Hub 2000 not an issue.

Yea I can't find a way to close Port 22 and I'm not running any SSH server. A big security issue IMO I'm on win 10 x64 check it out yourself www.grc.com the old 2000 didn't have this issue...I reported it to Bell and they don't seem to understand or care.

so far the 3000 has been giving me a huge amount of issues. we still get our download speed. but the speed is slower. when I had the hub 2000 I could download games in hours. I have had my console on for 2 days now to download a game still have to download half the game. the phones get disconnected constantly. I even plug my console to the lan right beside the modem. and it barely helps. so far the home hub 3000 sucks compared to the 2000 for the price you pay you don't get a great improvment, sure I get an extra wifi bar but it's slower.

Yukio, I absolutely agree. Bell switched every customer over from copper, to Fibre. The hub 3000 was installed a few weeks ago, and since then, my computer is much slower and now all my videos buffer for a minute or two before playing. That never happened before. Oh, and they told me the fibre wouldn't cost anymore than the copper. I told them I would hope not, since We customers didn't have a choice. So, then I got an email from Bell, informing me that Bell was raising their internet fees, by 3 dollars. Of course the bastards did. They just needed the excuse of switching everyone to Fibe. I hate this company.

Fibre works awesome until it reaches the copper wiring that makes up electronic components. Bell Fibe only has one plus: time-shifting for programs. The interface sucks, the PVR sucks due to no folders structure for dividing episodes by season, etc; channels not subscribed to, and French language and PPV ones, cannot be removed and hidden; inundated with screensaver ads and you cannot just turn on the tv to the last channel watched; the program search function is horrible as is the ON Demand menu. I also no longer receive the local public service station cable services are supposed to provide so now local played hockey games are not history. There are very few plusses to Fibe TV.
@PWingert1966
@PWingert1966 7 лет назад
There are a lot of software problems with this router. Its so bad the Bell reps are not reccomending it to customers and Bell is no longer making it the default choice for new internet accounts. As well it has a muc higher raiated radio power then the HH2000. If your in a Condo you don't need that much power. Problem is one of the bugs only kicks in when you reduce the power. Do not get this modem sicne it is still in beta testing and should not be trusted for critical environments.

Most of the people complaining about the quality should look at the personnel that’s installing your service. I left Bell when they started hiring 15$/hr people that make the job way harder then it needs to be. Creating multiple call back repairs. The good days of decent telecommunications specialists is over.

Home hub 3000 is not as good as the R3000 router I used to have. Despite the router being in the exact same location, my Ring doorbell cam and stick cams are having difficulty staying connected to the wireless network. The signal strength is lower than the R3000. So much for it being more powerful with more powerful signal. Absolutely false. My speeds have actually dropped on my PC sitting in the very next room. My speeds have dropped by 60 - 100 mbps(wireless). During installation the tech thought the hub may have been faulty so he replaced it with a another hub, no difference. Quote from the tech "Yes it may technically be more powerful spec wise, but the CRTC controls how strong a signal we are allow to put out, so we can't turn it up to its full strength". Port forwarding no longer works and I no longer have the advanced options I used to have on the R3000. DO NOT BELIEVE THE ADVERTISING OR HYPE. I do not recommend the Hub 3000. I'm getting slower speeds and a weaker wireless signal.

For some reasons, I got the same experience as you, but here's the facts. When i play on my computer I got around 20 ms online and i dont know why, but it goes around 80 ms or higher when i play on xbox 360....I tried to configure my xbox to fix that issue, but with the limited options xbox gave for the configuration i have the feeling that i can't do much about it.
