When Pete Rose asked Frank Thomas, "When I die and they decide to put me in the hall of fame, are you gonna go to my ceremony?" That hit really hard because even Rose knows that's the only way he will get in. I know it will not only make Thomas emotional, but the rest of the baseball world that knows he is more than qualified and more than due for his rightful place in the hall of fame.

Wow. I know I am a year late here, but I was a big fan of Pete Rose in the 70s, and I was a big fan of Frank Thomas in the 90s. I don't watch much baseball anymore. This was a great interview. The respect shown both ways, and the honesty about today's game, and the players expectations, is just refreshing. Thanks!

There's a lot of names that should be in the hall of fame and are not. Its system that's not fair to these guys. MLB birth what they got and then want to deny it. They made more money exploiting guys than anyone one person can imagine. People like to bring up the fact that Rose took more ABs than Cobb to get his 4256 hits , but Rose was also got to 3000 in 16 seasons, which was faster than just about anyone else. Also Rose was getting most of those hits in what was known as the era of the pitcher, when ERAs were at their lowest since the dead ball era

Hank Aaron, to me, is still the home run king! But just as you say about at bats, Aaron hit 40 more home runs than Babe Ruth, but Aaron also had almost 4,000 more at bats than Ruth. Numbers always get in the way sometimes. Hank and the Babe were both great ball players!!!

Pete didnt just bet on baseball, as Frank casually said. He bet against the team he was managing. Thats what really hurt Pete, no pun intended. He deserves his place in the HOF but when you are betting against the team you are managing, thats a serious gambling problem.... not only that, it was the Reds. Its bad news, real bad... but also something a man can be forgiven for.

It would be the greatest hypocrisy in the history of sports if they put Pete in the HOF after he died, and would be a horrible look for baseball too if they did that--which is why i dont think they will. The game of baseball has been filled with too many chicken-shits for too many decades, and none of them want to be known or remembered as "the guy who opened the door for Pete Rose to be allowed back into baseball or back in the HOF", even after he is gone. And as much as I personally want him in there, if you're going to do it, then do it NOW---before he dies. If u cant do it while hes still here, then you shouldnt do it after he is gone. If u are standing by this so-called "cardinal rule/cardinal sin of baseball" as the reason he cant get in for 40 years now, then why would u all of a sudden decide to change it or decide that its ok now after hes gone? It would only be just to not give Pete himself the satisfaction of seeing it happen. Too many of the baseball "haves", including decades' worth of spineless commisoners, are too concerned about their own asses and their own personal legacies, to ever be the one to "rock that boat". Nobody in baseball wants to touch Pete Rose with a ten-foot pole. Theyre more concerned with how they would look themselves. And lets face it: its not even about the betting on baseball thats actually keeping him out--whats keeping him out are rich overpaid billionaire baseball bureaucratic assholes that dont like the man, plain and simple! With Pete, its all personal, and it always has been from the very beginning. He was hated as a player because he had to scrap and hustle his way into a HOF career on pure blood, sweat, and guts, because he wasnt somebody who could do all of it on pure natural skill, talent, and ability! With Pete, its all about his ego and his arrogance--well show me one of these professional athletes who aint got those!!! Heres looking at YOU, SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER AND TIGER WOODS!!!! Some athletes think they are so special and above everybody else because of who they are, that they can just go barrelling thru traffic barricades that police have set up to ensure public safety--"hey, dont u know who i am? I'm the#1 golfer in the world, and i have a tee time to make, so if i gotta take out a cop on my way in to ensure i make it on time, these are the breaks"!!!! Then to top that off, to walk away from that incident "SCOTTIE-FREE"..........accountability-free, consequence-free----WOW. But Pete Rose belongs in a lifetime prison........like i said, it aint about the gambling, its about Pete and who he is, and the fact that hes not going to sell himself out to the pious baseball establishment to try to beg for reinstatement---believe me, i know how it is--i work in a kitchen at a restaurant for the same type of personality and culture: they expect u to cut your wrist and share your blood with them to prove you are on their team! No thank you---my job performance and productíon are supposed to be what counts and what determines if i make it here or not! But a big shout-out and a big "thank-you" to the "Big Hurt" himself, for having Pete Rose on his show, and for his public support of Pete and his case for making the HOF. I grew up in the 80s and early 90s, and my first baseball heroes were Pete Rose, Frank Thomas, Ken Griffey Jr, Tony Gwynn, Barry Larkin, Eric Davis---and every one of those guys were hitters and hustlers, and they all played the game the right way! One of the most overlooked, forgotten baseball teams and most forgotten World Series champions in history are the 1990 Cincinnati Reds who swept the almighty superpower Oakland A's and the Bash Brothers 4 games to none!!!! And who was the guy who spent from 1985-1989 managing, coaching, and developing those guys who won that '90 series into consistent winners? Pete Rose!!!! I dont think thats any coincidence.........and Big Frank, as they used to call u, thank u for the support of Pete--and thank u for signing my Beckett Baseball Frank Thomas Tribute magazine, and my official MLB baseball and my Fleer baseball card that i had of u in the lobby of the Westin hotel in downtown Cinciñnati--i was 14 yrs old and it was the first time i had ever met u--u were coming down the escalator inside the Westin hotel--and i was literally shaking and scared to death waiting for u to come down so i could ask u to sign the Beckett Tribute magazine--u were one of my idols and u looked bigger than life itself coming down that escalator--but being the perfect gentleman that u are, u signed my Beckett magazine, which i still have on display here at my house, along with the otber items that i mentioned, and i still love and appreciate you for all you did and have done for the game of baseball in your career. Two true legends of baseball right here--and two true HOF'ers--Frank Thomas and Pete Rose--thank you both for all u have done for the game of baseball, and for the way u have treated all the fans as well!!!!!
