been waiting for this video even though i dont need a combo rack 😅. overall it looks pretty good and its the most inexpensive ipf approved combo rack out right now
Such a thorough review and big deal breakers are the bench pad, position of the bench, colors, how wide it is! I am keeping my ghost but if I had the space for another one, I would buy the Eleiko one. Id rather keep my Ghost one!
My last comp had a wider combo (Elite FTS). And I did clip it on one squat walkout. What’s worse is I clipped it on two bench unracks. But I think you’re right that training with a wider rack would force me to have a more even unrack on both lifts.
Combo rack tip - when moving the racks in/out, always screw the tightener *towards* the direction you are going first. So when moving them in, tighten the outer ones first. When you move them back out, tighten the inner ones first. Otherwise your uprights will have play in them and move a lot when unracking/racking.
try plasti-dipping the gray parts white then hit it with glossifier. will hold up as long as its not getting bumped all the time and if you don't like it you can peel it of.
That was an Excellent review, but all yours are, although I am not a fan of Combo racks, you almost had me believing in them. Hansu is a good company but they seem to miss some major points on this piece as you pointed out. You have got to paint it white, that Grey is gonna drive you crazy. Haha Great Job
I’m constantly using this combo rack in the powerlifting gym I usually go. An issue I found is the rollers are a bit too loose/smooth for me. It affects my unracking sometimes. Moreover, there is another Hansu Combo Rack in the gym (but probably not approved by IPF). The bench for that one uses ‘pick up and drop into’ approach. I suspect that using screws is a requirement for IPF approved benches as Eleiko’s benches use screws to secure themselves too.
Sounds like they have both versions. I'm not sure about the drop in vs roll in as some IPF approved racks are still drop in but do have screws to tighten.
Agree with your review. Not the best, but with Eleiko being 2x the price, it is a great value. ZKC is a bit cheaper at $2,600 I believe, but may not have all the features of the Hansu. I've heard the bench on ZKC is long, however, so this may be helpful for taller lifters. My biggest issue with Hansu was the overall customer experience. In this day and age of e-commerce there are certain must haves like order confirmation, shipping notifications with tracking numbers. I did not receive either on my order. My plates came right away, but evidently the combo rack was not in stock and had to come from China, into Canada and then the US. All in all, it took about 11 weeks for the unit to arrive. In between I was given some run around on whether it had shipped or not. After providing information for US Customs, twice, Hansu said they 'shipped another one' to me to help expedite the process. Right - at $3K a pop, they just don't 'ship another one'. They never sent the first one but told me they had to appease me. Just tell me the truth; that would have landed better.
ZKC reached out to me about possibly reviewing theirs, but they wanted me to agree to only use their products in videos for a year, which I was unwilling to accommodate.
@@BasementBrandon right. No way can you agree to that with the volume of equipment that comes in/out of your gym. Sure you would get to keep the rack (and likely sell it later) but a one year exclusive deal would require some additional compensation I’d think.
I seriously debated buying this but I didn't like that it didn't have UHMW everywhere. I know this is a small issue but I thought it was something easy to fix for such a big price point. And like you said the grey isn't like super great lol I KNOW YOU DON'T LIKE TITAN but that's the one I ended up getting for like $600 bucks and everyone that's used it has been impressed with the quality.
This is a really tough question, I've been thinking for a few minutes on it. I think this is going to depend on your preferences a lot. An easy answer might be a specialty bar (I'm partial to SSBs), but you could get pretty creative in just making some stuff at home too, like things for deficits or block pulls. Is there anything you're finding you're missing in your day to day training?
@@BasementBrandon yeah makes sense - I find leg accessories like goblet squats hard to load etc so was thinking extension/curl machine or similar But also think maybe a lot of bang with a pulley system for lats/upper body accessories SSB makes a lot of sense too
I thought Macalister bought some from a company for his Titan J-cups? Do you know who I’m talking about? He talked about it on one of his videos here on RU-vid. I think gym walk through a year or two back?
Comprehensive. White and black would look sick in ur gym. Shame about the cost. Heavy debate about which direction the adjustment pins face on bench in your opinion? I have had dudes hit them when either re racking or aggressively adjusting the bar on the rollers pre lift and almost knocking them inside the upright tubes when the knurled fat end is on the inside.. 😅 if that makes sense..
Who do you think this product will be suited for? I think the majority of home gym owners would probably spend that money on a REP PR-5000 with a TON of accessories.
From a home gym standpoint, I would say it only really makes sense for those who compete often and want to mimic meet conditions as closely as possible.
The most overrated rack in my opinion is the Eleiko IPF Competition Combo Rack. I used at USPA nationals in competition and in the warm up room. The vinyl is like a slip and slide and it goes for $5,562! I would rather use a Texas Strength Systems rack. Hopefully I’ll get to use the Hansu combo rack someday. Thanks for the review!
the new eleiko IPF competition combo rack has a grippy area for your back. I have used it too and it works and it is sticky. I prefer the pad being completely sticky but it is a very slick design.
Your gym setup is so black and white that the vids appear to be black and white until something of color shows up and the rack just looks like shades of black and white...
Never understood why anyone would buy a Combo rack. They cost more than 2 Power Racks from REP and their spotter arms are always entirely too short. Would you walk out on a Combo rack with a 1 RM Squat weight, no you wouldn't and no smart person would so why have one. There are so many good benches with longer spotter arms out there for far cheaper than Combo Racks. I'm just telling the truth. Buy a Power rack and a dedicated individual bench with spotter arms that can actually save your life and you'd have money left to buy some bars or plates. Combo racks spotter arms are just for looks. Just spreading truth on the internet
I think the people who would get the most out of this would be people who compete on a regular basis who want as close to comp settings as possibe, for 99% of the population, they're not needed at home IMO.
@@BasementBrandon I agree 100%, if you compete in powerlifting, practice as you play and I get why competitors would want one. Matter of fact if you compete then probably you should get one.
