Mike, I’m a newer subscriber and love your take on these things. I have a set of powerblock adjustable dumbbells but recently have been building up a band/bar/platform setup. Wondered if you had ever put any thought into making a Facebook group or something dedicated to just those doing the band/bar/platform training to share all these tips and what not?

It's weird that you said that because yesterday something like that did come to mind. I actually don't use Facebook, but I'm open to it. Let me know if you of other options to consider.

Hey Mike, if you get the longer ropes such as the blue, they pair up really nicely with the thicker Harambe bands (probably even the kong) for a killer squat workout! Keep up the great work man!

Great review. I noticed that it looks like you're not using the block when slinging up the bands - it's a lot quicker when the bar is on the block as you can set up both ends at once.
@hybridresistance

Thanks for adding that tip. I did also try (not featured in this video) laying all the bands below the board as well.

I've been doing a lot of resistance band/body weight workouts lately, simply because I don't have the time or inclination to go to the gym. I get good results, especially if I pre-fatigue with the bands first and then do Dips, Chins, or Lunges. You can also set it up so that the band actually assists you in doing these exercises, if you need that or simply want to do more reps.

@@hybridresistance when you mention smaller bar to footplate distance, do you mean you like that the T bar doesn't stretch the bands outward so much because it's not as long as the K bar ? and also because the smaller footplate?

Hello Mike, nice video and very informative for those considering this system. I have the kbar bundle and have used it about a year. The app is a great feature as well. Even with the bag this system does not travel as well but it will travel. Thinking of catching the x3 on sale as i think it would be nice to have both. I see in the background a system of sorts on your wall that looks like you can attach bands to? Thinking about adding the clench anchors to my wall but just wondering what I saw on your wall?
@hybridresistance

Hi Scott, thanks for the comment. That's actually a wall mount for the Max Pro. It actually works really great for resistance bands, although it's probably not designed for it. I had a review for that product on the channel if you're curious.

I started with the X3 and eventually got the K Bar from Harambe. I also have the handles and the T Bar. I exclusively use the K Bar and handles at home. I use the X3 and handles when I travel. The K Bar is my favorite resistance band bar, hands down.

I can lace up a band just as fast on Harambe vs hooks. The wider bands are even faster. Just takes a few sessions to get use to it. Also it’s way easier to lace the band to the bar first then apply to the ground plate. The cork or foam block helps keep everything in place while resting.

Mike, You should highlight how expensive the Harambe is compared to the X3. Especially since Harambe doesn't really have good sales, compared to X3. I know you have focused a lot on the cost of the X3 in past videos. It seems like the Harambe is like "Cadillac" of resistance band training. You are paying a much higher price, for (perhaps) a more premium product, but I don't think by that much. But then again, I've never tried it... Thanks again for another great review!
@hybridresistance
@hybridresistance 7 месяцев назад
This is true. I've tried to allude to that on past videos as that might be a main issue when considering one versus another.
@TimothyWStar

Hey Mike, I have a few additional questions centered around mixing and matching Harambe parts with an X3. As much as I love my X3 and am not looking to fully replace it, I love Harambe's modular system so that you can buy what you want out of it. Does the X3 bar rest in the grooves on the Harambe block despite being a thicker diameter? Harambe band seem much thicker than my paraforce. Does the X3 bar's hooks hold the Harambe bands well when stacking them, or is it still best sticking with Series Steel bands if I wanted some shorter bands with an X3 bar? Does the app require a proof of purchase of the Harambe system, or could I use it if I wanted to add variety to my X3 workouts and just get things I'd want to do different workouts like a longer bar, footplate with multiple channel options, etc?
@hybridresistance
@hybridresistance 7 месяцев назад
Yes, the X3 bar will fit on the grooves on the block. You should have no problems fitting the harambe Bands on the X3 minus the blue Kong band which is huge and I also think you have no problem using the harambe app.

Hi Mike, if you could only choose between the X3 squat belt or the X3 performance bands which would you choose?
@hybridresistance
@hybridresistance 7 месяцев назад
If you wanted or needed new bands, the performance bands. If your bands are already functional, then the belt would be ideal.
@Mr2004MCSS
@Mr2004MCSS 7 месяцев назад
Nice video. I see that when you are trying to attach the slings to the bands, you are still trying to thread the rope through the band instead of reaching through the band to grab the rope. Reaching through the loop of the band and grabbing the rope is way faster and smoother than trying to do it the way you are doing it. I put the bar on the cork block that sits on the board with the farthest ropes already attached to the pulleys and then with my left hand grab one end of the band so that it forms a loop and then with my right hand going through the loop of the band, I grab the end of the rope that is hanging and pull it through the loop of the band and then wrap it around the pulley.

I do all the time, you just have to be flexile enough to get in a deep squat to slip it over your head.

For someone who just purchased an X3 like a month ago, is this Harambe K bar system really that much better where it’s worth spending $700 to make a move to their system? Are they similar enough to the point where if you have one, then you’re not really going to get much more out of the other?
@hybridresistance
@hybridresistance 6 месяцев назад
I'm thinking about making a video on this but most of it really is just personal preference. The Harambe has the larger bar / footplate, but you could always just get a larger bar, but then the smaller x3 footplate might be weird with the long bar. But short answer (at least for me) no, you'd be good with whatever you got.

How can you set up exercises like the lat pull downs on that bar? I don't know with my door frame if it might mess it up or the door

I do think, that harambe is the best system out there now. But I do like more the idea of putting quickly bands on the x3 bar. I do it with a Innstar Bar and Triangle Quick Links. Definately not the best option, because links are moving on the bar and not fix on the bar, but the cheapest. Gamerbody made a review on the Geku Fit Bar I think it was named, looked like a x3 bar with the hooks on the end. But sold out. For progressive overload, harambe is probably the best with their minor adjusting with these spacers. Even though some bands are stiffer than the others, I do think it does not matter so much in terms of taxing out the muscle. Comparing Undersun Bands and Rogue Bands, Rogue are definitely stiffer, but do not stretch over chest Level with my setup including The Step and Innstar Bar. They overstretch, where Undersuns dont. But in the end it comes to the muscle mind connecting, how focused you are, even if the band as the Undersuns, feel more stretchier compared to Rogues or similar brands. In the end you overload your muscles. Even if they loose tension over time, adjusting with more bands and so on is possible. Probably not the best way, but good enough. Were you able to progressively overload with bands? Dont you feel, that especially on a front squad its hard to stress out your legs, before your overall nervous system does? Having that constant tension makes it harder to go over 15 - 20 reps where on a classical machine in a gym, you could go higher before your nervous system stops you. But I experienced that especially on a front squad and sometimes on rowing movements.
@hybridresistance
@hybridresistance 7 месяцев назад
Thanks for that detailed comment. I do think the best leg exercise is the vector athletic belt. I just did a review for it recently on the channel if you want to check it out.

What's the benefit of a foot plate? why wouldn't one just stand on the bands? Isn't that easier? Seems like a lot of unecessary work equipment. Maybe i'm missing something.
@gerrya2133
@gerrya2133 7 месяцев назад
It changes the angle of the bands and can keep the bands away from you instead of rubbing against you for certain exercises (he mentions this in the video.) The other big thing is that the force on your feet/ankles is a normal straight up and down and not at an angle. The bands are advertised as going up 600+ pounds.
@lawrencel4274
@lawrencel4274 7 месяцев назад
@@gerrya2133I see. thanks. I figured that much as it was obvious-he angle of the bands being at two points the bar and the foot plate. Just didn't think it was that big an issue, i.e., if wearing clean shoes, which would give the added advantage of offering infinite angles and foot widths. It seems easier to buy low-profile shoes for working indoors so it's always clean to avoid any debris cutting into the rubber. It seems more of an advantage of you're using the bands outside on a surface that can damage your bands. I can understand the bar as rubbing forces can possibly be a painful nuissance. But still don't see the benefit of a foot plate over just stepping on the band which would provide more variation. Maybe i'm missing something.
@hybridresistance
@hybridresistance 7 месяцев назад
Once you try a footplate, you won't want to not use it. You certainly still can use your feet for lighter loads, but one simple problem is the potential for the band to fly off easier than if it's anchored under a footplate.
