Harbor Breeze Ceiling Fan Remote, Program, Dimmer and Conflict Fix

Programming the Remote on a Harbor Breeze ceiling fan is done by turning off the power at the breaker, turning on the power, then holding down the program or reset button in the battery compartment of the fan's remote control.
The Harbor Breeze ceiling fan dimmer is operated by holding down the light button then releasing the button at your desired light level.
When you have multiple fans that use the same type of remote, you may experience a conflict between the remote and other fans. One remote will operate two or more fans in other rooms. To solve this problem, simply reset and reprogram the fans one at a time and take care to get the remote that is being programed as far away from the other fans as possible, but still able to control the fan you're trying to program.
Special Note: just because the light on the remote lites up does not mean the battery is good, it may not have enough juice to control the fan... so if you are having trouble programming the remote, test your battery!

*Love it! Keeps the room very **Fastly.Cool** . The manual states it comes with a year warranty and 5 year part replacement. The compressor makes the typical sound...small price to pay for AC.*

Thank you for this video! You helped me fix our fan and light. Wonderful help on your video! Tip: I also needed to put in a new battery into the remote because although the old battery made the remote-control light up when holding the "program - reset button", the old battery was not strong enough to sync the remote-control with the fan and light.

I have 2 fans wired to the same wall switch in my living room. When we installed them, they worked perfectly on our separate remotes. Thanks to the battery getting weak, one quit. I found another video to reset it, but it caused both fans to reset! Thanks to this video, I realized I'd have to get far enough away to only reset one. Thank you so much!

Thanks for your response back. We have tried to turn switch power off and turn switch power on and for some reason or another the fan is still on with the same speed.

Looks great, and with a brighter bulb installed that’s all the light you need. ru-vid.comUgkxWF88GpljEn-0o34vtLFazEQ5h5Q33SjU As far as ease of installation- this was my first ceiling fan and it took about 3 hours because I had no idea what I was doing and also it’s helpful to have a second set of hands and a magnetic drill bit. Works great.

Your video inspired me....after 6 months of dealing with problems trying to get my Harbor Breeze SLINGER fan to start properly (it has a back-and-forth dance it has to do prior to getting up enough speed to start) I tried to re-set it, BUT had forgotten to turn off the power AT THE BREAKER BOX. Seeing your video reminded me of that important step and now my fan is working properly again.

AWESOME! Thanks so much. I have a completely different remote but you're talking about reset got me to think. My remote has the reset button, didn't work with switching that off within 30 seconds but there's ALSO a "learn" button. I flipped the light switch off and then on and hit the learn button, worked right away. Never would have thought if that without you, thanks!

I have a new Harbor Breeze and my remote is not working properly. I have tried the 'learn' button about 5 times now. It works for about the first 5 minutes and then the light blinks and remote stops working! Go back to 'learn' and it works again for 5 minutes, light blinks and on we go. Any ideas what might be causing this? Only fan in the house with a remote! So don't think it's interference?

I have the ones (5 of them) with the dip switches, an older model I take it. They are the prettiest fans you can find for the price I think. Obviously the switches on the Sender (the remote) have to match the ones on the Receiver, which unfortunately in in the very top (near the ceiling) of the fan. You have to take off the collar and then find the black box with the switches on it. I've have dealt with this problem a lot, since we live in a condo building where 15 other units have the same fans (3 in each unit). If you know a little about binary math, we have 4 switches each with an on/off position. That gives you 2^4 combination, which I'll do the math for you is 16. You can probably figure out that we had lots of conflicts especially since the remotes are very powerful. A person in one unit can turn on/off the lights in a unit three doors down. So we have mapped the building and tried to coordinate everybody's fan codes to space them out as far as possible. We still have one or two problems. Here are two caveats that I ran into. One person here complained about the light not working. Obviously the first thing to check is the bulb (and they burn out often). A long halogen bulb (100w) with two end connectors on opposite side. Use a voltmeter to check for continuity or visually inspect. The glass canopy around the bulb can be hard to take off, you need to twist it to the left (counter clockwise) an inch or so and then it comes off. Add some grease like Vaseline so next time it'll be an easier task. Caveat number 2: I installed a new fan on an existing switch which happened to be a rheostat (a dimmer). Apparently the dimmer switch that was installed would not let all current through, even in the full position and you get very strange results like flickering lights and a hum from the motor, but no movement. Hope this helps some of you. --Martin

Putting a smart fan with a remote on a dimmer is like turning your computer off and on every second -- it won't finish booting up and won't work right.

I have this exact Harbor Breeze fan remote, you'll notice there is no REVERSE button. At least for mine, there is a secret code to Reverse the fan direction, press these buttons in succession - OFF-LOW-OFF-HIGH-OFF. If you hear a relay click in the fan, you'll know it worked, and the fan blades should turn in the other direction next time it is turned on.

I have this exact remote. Electrician installed the transmitter for it on my Hampton Bay ceiling fan. I bought a second remote just like it so I have one for the living room and another for master bedroom. Getting the remote to "Learn" isn't as easy as shown in this video - at least for me it wasn't. I think the trick is to make sure you 1) turn off the power to the ceiling fan for at least 15 seconds 2) have a brand new battery in the remote 3) stand as close as possible to the ceiling fan 4) when you're repeating these steps trying to get the damn remote to work, take out the remote's battery too, so both the remote and the fan are power cycled. But I got it working - so I can testify that you can buy two remotes to work the same fan if you want. But I'm not sure if I just got lucky or not - it may be that the remote has a frequency that matches the fan and it won't always work. Good luck!

+Ben Morris for the one in this video, I called the number in the user manual and they sent me one for free. I just ordered another from a website for $20, I haven't tried it yet so I am hesitant to recommend... search the FCC ID code on the back of the remote and you will see some online retailers. The remote I ordered has the learn function and the dipswitches
@benmorris2070
@benmorris2070 8 лет назад
+ZipZapDIY , the problem is the fan came without a remote and the user manual number people told me the fan was discontinued. The FCC ID is L3HFAN35T2, and I've searched that everywhere. No luck at all.
@ZipZapDIY
@ZipZapDIY 8 лет назад
+Ben Morris I Searched my FCC ID (fcc id kujce9603) and yours.. L3HFAN35T2 looks to be the "same" search mine and you will see some buying options, and notice that the model number of the remote matches your id. make sense?
@benmorris2070
@benmorris2070 8 лет назад
+ZipZapDIY the difference is kujce9603 is FAN35T, mine which is FAN35T2 has 6 buttons, plus the middle light button. The reason for the 6 buttons is that this model has a down light, and an upper light, both which are dimmable. The generic replacement at Lowes is your model, but Lowes doesn't sell, nor can I seem to get a replacement for the 6 button model. I really appreciate your help on this though.

You do not need to walk away from the fans when you have multiples... The right way to do it, is to use unique combinations on each remote, then ONLY turn on the fan you want to program, once a fan is paired with a remote, it won't respond to another remote. If your fans are behind wall switches, then just turn all switches off except for the one you want to program and repeat for every fan/remote pair. If your fans are directly connected to the electric wires, then program/pair each fan immediately immediately after it is plugged into the circuit.
@ZipZapDIY
@ZipZapDIY 4 года назад
As described in the video, in this situation the fans are on the same circuit, as it is in many small condos. When the power is turned off and on again, both fans are now ready to be paired with a remote, causing a conflict. Also, this make / model of fan is not designed to be used on a wall switch.

Can anyone help. My remote when I dim the light, the blades slow down. When it's on full light, the blades speed up to high. So not only is it too bright but too windy! I keep playing with the remote as it's out of wack but nothing is working right. I don't have a reset button.

Here's a good one for you....... I have a Harbor Breeze fan with the remote that looks identical to the video. We had a power failure last when power came back the fan was on the fastest speed and would not respond to the remote. I can only shut it off at the breaker box. I installed a new battery - it didn't help. So I took off the back of the remote - it has only the 4 position dip switch, no "learn" or "reset" switches - none. What do you suggest? It's Ok I'll wait. I've got the time.

My remote has the learn button and I've went through the process several times. last abou 5 minutes, light blinks and remote stops working all together. Won't turn off fan or lights until go back through the 'learn' process. Then, again, only last for a few minutes. Any idea what might be causing it not to hold the signal?

When you turn the power on withing the first 30 seconds hit the reset button. Do you mean when I hit a button on the remote to turn the power on? The fan is wired hot with no other switch besides the breaker.

you will need to switch off the power at the breaker.

I have A Harbor Breeze remote (KUJCE9805) that was programmed to the wrong fan in a nearby room. Your video explains how this happens, but does not go into enough detail about how to reset the remote so that it no longer communicates with the undesired fan.
@ZipZapDIY

You have to reprogram one or both fans, keeping the remote out of range of the other fan when you reporgram. In my case I had to go out into the hallway of the condo building to get away from the other fan.

Do you happen to have the manual for this particular fan? I have this fan and the light burned out, but I don't know how to change it. It's LP8071 but I can't find it online and Lowe's no longer sells it.

I recently moved into a new home with a H.B. Exeter ceiling fan with a missing remote. I believe this fan is older (maybe 6 or 8 years). I bought the same remote kit you have in your video. I tried everything you suggested, but the fan would not rerspond. The remote kit I bought came with a new reciever. Do you think the fan has one with DIP switches and this newer remote is incompatible?
@ZipZapDIY
@ZipZapDIY 9 лет назад
To the best of my knowledge, the dip switch fan works with the dipswitch remote only. The new remote only works with a new fan without the dip switches. You have a couple options, install the new receiver that came with the kit you bought or buy an older fan remote that has the dip switches. If it was me, I'd probably source the correct older type remote.

Anyone run into the blue light on the fan failing to turn off? None of my buttons are depressed and it functions normally.

Is there a switch on the remote that changes the direction of the fan?

Just curious - what if my remote doesn't have a reset button - the front looks similar to yours, but the back doesn't have a reset button like yours. There are four little sliding switches on a circuit board-type board that says "On" above switches 1 & 2, and "Dip" above switches 3 & 4

you'll have some dip switches on the fan as well, you'll need to find them, usually on the top and set them to match your remote. Good Luck!
