Always works flawless the first few times. On mine the switch became fussy and after some careful prying got it to work only to get stuck again. I think I got another one and reinforced or changed the switch out. Careful how tight the battery cap goes on, that's another possible buzz kill. Functional other than that.

For twice the price, Tera Pump makes a version that has automatic stop when the tank is full. However, after a year of use, the automatic stop has failed on me a couple of times... Resulting in a fairly substantial gas spill. Now I'm paranoid and have to monitor the fill process closely anyway so I'm not sure it's worth the extra money. YMMV

I love these kinds of reviews! I bought one like this when they first came out, maybe 20 years ago or better. I never could keep a set of batteries in it and ended up tossing it. I think I payed about $25 for it then. It worked somewhat well. But what good was it when I had to change the batteries constantly? Or at least that's what I thought when I went back to a gravity siphon. I'm glad to see they have improved! So much so that next time I go to HF I'm buying a new one. Never again will I have get full of oil or make a mess when transferring used oil!!!

I got one of these pumps and on a test with water in my kitchen sink it worked very well. But my problem is that I have about 15 gallons of gas in one of my truck's gas tanks that I would like to get out, not in. The pickup nozzle is too fat to fit into my truck gas tank to pump out the old gas. It would be fine if I was pumping gas into the truck.

Does anyone know the OD of the output hose on this? It tapers to a smaller end, and I want to put a hose extender on it. I had one but it was stolen, and I'd like to get a new output hose extension. I usually fill my pickup out of my neighbor's semi. Works great, but needs a longer output hose. Also, when his tank gets low, I can put a handle on the pump and lower it into the tank, but need an even longer extension on the output hose. I remember I bought a length of hose at O'Reilly's. I just don't remember what size.

I use the one in this video for gas only, I just let it drip dry. I was using one just for transferring water, but it stopped working. I took it apart and the motor was locked up. Not sure if it was because I was using it for water or not, but the advertisement said it was ok.

@@1D10CRACY Thank you very much for the response. Sounds like what I wanted to hear. I use it for gas, and after each use I run water throught it, and let it drip dry. When I go to reuse it, I fear that it will purge some water somehow, so I waste the first little bit of fuel pumped through, to make sure there is no water mixed with it. It's a complication that I would rather avoid, and it sounds like I could avoid it. I guess if worse comes to worse, and not rinsing the fuel out damages it, it's not that expensive, anyway. A better solution is a pressurized tank. It's sealed so no leaks or evaporation going bad. All you need is a foot pump resistant to fumes and a sealed gas can. Takes only a few pumps to pressurize the tank. There is good fuel handle to dispense liquids just like the gas station. the pressure pushes the fuel out. No batteries. You can pressurize a tank in a shed and feed the hose outside for filling machines. I see garbage applications of this idea. It's so simple. So don't understand how they keep *ucking it up. I rigged a system up that works amazingly well for the past 5 years but unable to find a rubber foot pump resistant to gas fumes. i'm working on building a leather and wooden one. The tank has a one way valve for air so the pump can leak a little without the tank leaking.

I have purchased about 7 of these over the years. Lately, they have become more expensive. They have also changed the design FOR THE WORSE! The hose is flimsy and won't reach the bottom of a Blitz-style 6 gallon gas tank. The black metal ring that "clamps" the hose onto the device leaks, and is not vey tight. I bought two of them at the same time. One did not work at all! The motor made noise, but did not pump a drop of gas. The other one works at the moment, but leaks. Terrible design. The motor/oump is at the bottom of the device. JUNK!

@@1D10CRACY You are a good example of somebody who has no idea what they are talking about. I am a nomad. I live in a vehicle and need a pump because I am disabled and find it extremely difficult to lift a 5 gallon container. The ONLY pump at a small price that says it is ok for gas is this one. They are all garbage. I have tried various brands. All the same. The last one I got for free from HF. I am constantly building and have not had time to address this problem. The exception being at the beginning I made a constant fuel line for my Honda which will draw fuel from a tank. The Honda became very unreliable so I ditched it in favor of 2 x Champions which cannot pull gas. The stupid pumps in your video I have had to consider "the cost of doing business". So I have been buying and then throwing away after a month or however long it lasts. I have been cannibalizing the parts to try and get one working. At the moment I have 3 non working pieces of S in my truck. Yesterday I decided to attack the problem head on after putting it off for 4 years. So I spent over $60 on a pump and got a ammunition case from HF. Today I shall make a fuel pump that works on 12v. These pumps are absolute garbage. Unfortunately for $13 and being portable they are all that is available unless you make your own. I hope you got the clicks you wanted. You have no experience in real life just another dumb YT channel.
@1D10CRACY
@1D10CRACY Месяц назад
Thanks for the positive comments! I like to keep the comments light and funny and I'm glad you caught onto that! You really didn't have to spend the time justifying yourself. As for the RU-vid channel, it's just a fun hobby and I do it for myself because I enjoy it, not for the clicks. I love to see people making their own devices! Sadly as crappy as today's products have become, it's almost a necessity! Maybe a 12 volt transfer pump and some clever plumbing would be a better option! Unfortunately these cheap Chinese pumps are pretty crappy and the really good stick pumps are overpriced.

Sure hope so! I'd wanna "transfer pump" to suck! I don't think you're supposed to used them for "volatile" fluids that could be ignited by the lil' electric motor (right, 4 years workin' at a filling station and the "driveway boss" had a lit Phillip Morris in his hand ALL the time, or a lit Zippo like we all carried to light customer's smokes-Charlie only had fingers on ONE hand!).
