Excellent! I built one and it is hard to extrude the tubing through it, but by you extending the 2 opposing rollers outward is GENIUS! Thank you for sharing, I will be upgrading to your design.

The swag kit definitely works as advertised. Bought one late last year for my son's 4H Ag mechanics project. He was able to assemble the setup himself in about 4 hours. He bent over 60 ft of 1.5 in schedule 40 pipe. As one of the suggestions below said, have a second person use a pipe wrench on the end to keep it from twisting.

Use a pipe clamp,welding clamp,or Vice-Grip on the pipe from the start at 1 or both ends so you can keep the tube from twisting,as you'll see when it tries and correct it.Thanks for showing that kit.I hoped they'd motorize it easy.

ive had one for 4yrs now. the first failure you will have is stripping the OEM allens in the larger dies. the biggest ive done is 1.5" aluminum sch40 it will almost let the smoke out of that pipe threader if you apply to much pressure with the bottle jack. i took my OEM dies and drilled the shaft on both sides to take a grade 8 1/4" bolts to lock the dies to the shaft. there is so much torque on the driving die i have sheared grade 5s. i also have seen the "anti rotation lever" fail and wrap that spring around and flip the pipe threader over. Make no mistake this is a dangerous tool if you over load it. The keyed swag dies and shaft are way to expensive. i bought 3 other sets of harbor freight dies and turned them on a lathe to make different profiles for square tubing. best thing you can do is make a stand so you can roll it outside as you already know a full stick of material will easily hit the ceiling in any shop.

The video is very helpful, thank you for doing this. The pipe twists because of the set screws causing a wobble as it turns (according to swag) they sell an axle that is supposed to eliminate the wobble, and the twisting. I just got mine in along with my electric drive kit, I’m excited to see how it performs with the mods!

Great upgrades for price and i mean it works :) - still the investment for a proper mandrel type bender is worth it if doing more frequent or intricate work IMO. Then again some people don't even need tools to get the job done

Local company said they will lazer cut all the holes and materials for like 15 hundred but the holes will still need work and that's alot of holes .now I need to find a shop after they are cut they could ream them to perfect size and work with that size material. It might be cheaper to buy .lmao .

Did you weld that billet hub 4 1/2 from the top or 4 1/2 from the bottom? I did it from tip to top of the billet hub and I don't have enough room. Guess I'll be ordering another lol.

More of a question, do you feel this will handle square tube if prober dies are made to accept and guide it? I’m figuring 3/4”, 1”, 1-1/2”, possibly 2”. All no greater than .125” wall.

What is used to keep the center axle from either rotating or or sliding in and out.. ie the other axles have cotter pins to keep them from moving whereas the center axle has no holes for cotter pins?

It looks like a Siegmund welding table to me. But just the table is extremely expensive and if you get past that pill the real money is in the fixtures and clamps. I'd suspect you'd need to drop around 10-15K to have a table like that and just a handful of clamps. I'd personally recommend the buildpro table for a normal high end home gamer versus the Siegmund. But if you're doing professional grade fab work for high end clients then I suppose you could go with the Siegmund. But if he's got this welding table my question is why is he trying to save a couple hundred busks reworking the roller set than just buying a high end set?

What I really want to know is how much easier the wings make it to bend tube, but no one ever uses the roller first, then adds the wings and uses it. Does anyone have experience with using the roller first then adding the wings?

Rule number 1 with this tool. Take the bag/box of bolts that come with it and throw them in the scrap hopper. Replace them with grade 8.

I just bought this tube roller this evening...and true to Harbor Freight, it broke in 5 minutes (stripped out the shaft locking screws as I rather expected it would) so I looked into this cool modification. However, making a $200 roller into an $800 roller? Here is what I am looking at: Harbor freight tubing roller I just bought: $250. The Swag kit: $256. The Harbor freight bottle jack: $40. Harbor freight pipe threader $229. Total is $775. Then there is tax, shipping, and my time to fabricate using the pile of parts. In the end, like SO many of my projects, I end up with a very expensive, device of questionable quality. I may be able to fabricate the Swag plates and shafts, but the pipe threader I would need to get used. I do have an extra mini winch. Maybe there is a way to use it? Either that, or return this thing and buy the hydraulic pipe bender.

The problem with the Harbor Freight tubing roller is the bearing suck maybe they're okay with smaller diameter but with two inch aluminum the bearings were going out twice

So a grand total just under $500, isn't bad. If I had a house and garage, I'd would totally buy the bender and this kit. Looks like they made the kit with close to 1/4" plate. Seems like it'll last a good number of years of use and abuse.

I hear you I'm setting up my small fab shop right out side my door in a really small spot. I'm making a pedastool that I can set mutable stuff on it and when the stuff is not in use it could be pulled off and set aside. I like the craftsmanship work I make due with what I got and area to work with. It would be nice to work in a garage out of the weather.

By the time you add in all these upgrades the cost skyrockets way past the cost of a better brand tube roller - Tube roller $200 NOT INCLUDING STAND or modifying the set screws which will soon strip out - wing kit $100 - bottle jack kit $80 - Electric pipe threader $200 - SWAG Machined Drive Hub $40 - 3 plus sets of dies $ plus $170 for each additional die set - foot pedal $14 - This is not including tax, welding, etc - current total $1,130. Cost of tube roller and just upgrade parts without the power drive is closer to $450, This is not including tax, welding, etc.. Is this still cost effective???

Im trying to make a jack shaft for my go kart, I have the shaft, and pillow bearings, I cannot find the sprockets anywhere...everyplace I called says they dont know what Im talking about or they dont have sprockets that big. The size I need are 5/8 ID 21 tooth. 1 is a 520 pitch, the other is a 530 pitch. If you can point me in the right direction, that would be great, Thanks

@@elifernandez3044 because I had to take the stock motor out, I blew it up.. Im putting a 1984 3 wheeler motor in it. The wheeler motor has a 520 sprocket. I measured the go kart sprocket, I believe to be, 530...so any idea where I can find these sprockets? They dont go by pitch, so how do I find them?

LOL 200$ tubing roller make it work like a 800$ roller... Base pipe roller 200$ the Electric pipe threader 200$, bottle jack 20$ and Sawg kit 254$ Total:675$ Pretty close to 800$ if you ask me...

@@christophermcmahon7920 metal fatigues. mine didnt but if it did, not hard to fix with a welder and some time. all tools are like that these days. they probably beefed it up by now tho. check my channel, i have quite a few vids of it in use and the results.
