Hard drive data recovery on a 500GB Western Digital drive. This is actually a follow up to this video: • Hard Drive Freezer Tri... where we demonstrated why the old "freezer trick" diy data recovery method is not a good idea. This point was demonstrated perfectly by the fact that the heads were damaged almost immediately after powering on the drive. Upon opening the drive we found that microscopic ice crystals had started to form on the platters and there is no doubt that this is what killed the heads.
So we thought this was the perfect opportunity to do another video where we actually repaired this same hard drive and accessed the data on it. This doesn't go into any real detail about the critical steps that are taken during the head swap, mainly because these videos are not meant to be tutorials. They simply highlight some of the procedures that we do when we repair hard drives.
